Hi Everyone,

New to SAU here and I'm currently in the market for a Series 2 R33. I've got my eyes set on a really clean example (low Kms too) that was imported back in Jan 22.

Is there anyone on here with experience in pre-purchase inspections? or can point me in the direction of a reputable/ knowledgeable person to carry out one for me? $$$

Ideally I'd like to have a compression test done as well.

Located in Sydney.

Any and all help is much appreciated.
Thanks!

So unlikely to be true that it barely deserves discussion. These cars have all had odo haircuts. What really matters is the actual condition. And so on to your inspection.

I'm not from Sydney so don't have a recommendation for you. Hopefully someone will pipe up with a useful recco for you. But also keep in mind that there is a large number of famous Skyline/GTR performance shops in Sydney. Mostly in the western crime zone. Consider them a fallback position. They do know a lot about Skylines.

I know, it definitely seems too good to be true man.. However, It has original Japanese service history that matches up. Numbers on the odo are straight as an arrow. Interior/ Exterior condition is almost immaculate.

Thanks for the pointers GTSBoy; I can definitely use that option as a fallback.. gonna have to do some extensive research into this.

I did see a really detailed pre-purchase checklist thread on here from a guy named @Merli. Anyone know if he's still active?

If I needed someone to check out an import in Sydney, I'd get Just Jap to do it. They have a mechanic who has worked on a billion of these. Not sure if they actually offer the service but it would be worth calling and asking

Well, these days most of their presence is parts (from both Japan and China), but historically they are an importer and broker. They also do and support a lot of racing (not mine sadly!) so they have plenty of real world experience

Low km and grade 4 to 5 for $30K

I would like to see that tbh......when you look on Car Sales and other sites these days they are asking sheep station numbers for them.  Is Mr L or any of his protege's still in business?

TBH I am highly skeptical.

    • It is a kunfine Android screen . Does anyone know the wirering diagram of the fuga ??
    • just an update to this, poor man pays twice  Tried sanding down the pulleys but it didnt do the trick. Chucked another second hand alternator in the na car which I got for free off my mate and its fixed the squelling. Must have been unlucky with the bearings.    As for my turbo car, I managed to pick up a cwc rb alternator conversion bracket + LS alternator for 250 off marketplace, looked to be in really good nick. Installed it , started the car and its not charging the battery.... ( Im not good with auto elec stuff so im not sure if this was all I needed to do but I verified such by using a multimeter on the battery when the engine was running and I was only getting 12.2v )   I had to modify the earth strap for the new LS alternator , factory earth strap was a 10mm bolt which did not fit the bolt on the LS alternator which was double the size so I cut it off , went to repco bought some ring terminals that fit, crimped it onto the old earth strap and bolted it up to the alternator , started the car and same issue. Ran like shit and was reading 12.2 at the battery.  For a "plug and play" advertised kit thats not very plug and play but alas.  My question is , am I missing something ? Ive been reading that some people recommend upgrading the stock 80 amp alternator fuse to a 140 amp but I dont see how that would stop the alternator charging especially at idle not under load.  Regardless ive pulled it out and am going to get it bench tested by an auto elec tomorrow but it would be handy to know if ive missed something silly or have done something wrong.
    • My wild guess is that you have popped off an intake pipe....check all of the hoses between the turbo and the throttle for splits or loose clamps.
    • Awesome, thanks for sharing!
    • To provide more specific help, more information is needed. What Android screen? What is its wiring diagram? Does the car's wiring have power at any required BAT and ACC wires, and is the loom's earth good?
