I believe Consult-2 also works. Unfortunately Nissan did not implement a way to manually run the ABS motor by jumping a wire in the diagnostic connector or put a bleeder on the module block itself. Someone else can jump in if I read the FSM wrong but there is only mention of how to clear codes without a scan tool. So if you don't have a scan tool you need to somehow jump pin 5 on the ABS actuator module to ground without disrupting the other connections with a momentary switch:

It would have been nice if the consult-3 could talk to older Nissan's with some sort of adaptor..

I'll just have to see if I can do the old jump on the brake pedal to cycle the solenoids or reverse bleed the system but I'm worried reverse bleeding will just fill the master with air instead haha.

There used to be a PC program you could download called conzult that covered all models in the consult scan tools and gave you entire access of all onboard computers just like having the real unit but they ended up settling it's use for the 300zx only, due to not enough sales. I'd pay $300 for that in a heartbeat right now.

Reverse bleeding probably won't work as well as one would hope, you need absolutely zero air around the threads of the bleeder and at the entrance into the bleed nipple as well or else you're going to be pumping air bubbles through the lines. I don't know if the ABS module needs to have the solenoids activated as well, I figure if the older R32 could just be bled passively you probably can just use the motor + pressure in the master cylinder to flush bubbles out with sufficient flow velocity. Really is a shame more cars don't have something like the Toyota Prius' invalid mode which triggers the ABS pump for you when you press the brake pedal for thorough bleeding without a scan tool. ABS pumps also flow a ton of fluid compared to just simple pressure at the master cylinder.

Also, if you really want to pay for a scan tool supposedly the Launch X431 scan tool supports the Skylines if you get the 14 pin OBD1 adapter, I would try it myself but my car is hundreds of miles away from me at the moment:

I've always gone and slammed the brakes and pull up the handbrake a little to upset the ABS computer causing the ABS motor to turn on.

Get it to run a couple of times and re-bleed. You should be good after that.

Lets say I wanted to buy this, specifically for this purpose.

How do I actually perform the function. Can I still buy a Consult-1?
Am I about to be burned by the fact my car is a 2000 model Series 2 R34 and thus will be some stupid other system?

And with what software?

I didn't actually try it at the time but a Launch X431 with the appropriate software licenses/upsell will have the ABS bleed function. The Consult II you can still find some old sets of equipment but they're really, really expensive: 

 

I am truly amazed someone on this planet was able to cycle the pump using a scan tool.

I've always ghetto cycled them on Nissan 90s shit boxes by slamming the brakes and pulling the handbrake to agitate the rear wheels enough to cause a speed difference

The downside of this is when you try to track the car, as soon as you hit ABS you get introduced to a unbled system.

I want to avoid this. I do not want to bleed/flush/jack up the car twice just to bleed the f**kin car.

This is how I last did this when I had a master cylinder fail and introduce air. Bleed before first stage, go oh shit through first stage, bleed at end of first stage, go oh shit through second stage, bleed at end of second stage, go oh shit through third stage, bleed at end of third stage, go oh shit through fourth stage, bleed at lunch, go oh shit through fifth stage, bleed at end of fifth stage, go oh shit through sixth stage....you get the idea. It did come good in the end.

My Topdon scan tool can bleed the HY51 and V37, but it doesn't have a consult connector and I don't have an R34 to check that on. I think finding a tool in an Australian workshop other than Nissan that can bleed an R34 will be like rocking horse poo. No way will a generic ODB tool do it.

The team at OBD2 Australia are pretty good, shoot them an email and ask them. I've dealt with them before for work stuff.

I'd be shocked if it didn't work, so long as Consult can activate the ABS. But you might need to use KLine for it which would be the stopper, as I don't think that piece does KLine comms.

Also, I don't know the actual ABS system on the skylines, but a sneaky thing could be a piece of electronic equipment that makes the ABS think you're moving, and then same piece can send a signal for a locked up tyre...

Activate ABS without slamming brakes...

I downloaded the apps (for windows) and Consult 1 doesn't have this function on it for the Consult 1 plug which I'm pretty sure all Skylines have.

You would think someone would have a workaround after 30 years for all Skylines which have ABS.
