I have an R34 one in my 32, but that is because the other end at the fuel door broke (plastic in 32, steel in 34).

Is the 2nd pic a temporary fix?

I think it is repairable, I'm not sure of the method but it would be worth either checking around or getting an instrument repairer to look at it

Some advice, i realized that the cable broke, because there is a big ass washer on the seatbelt thing and it was squeezing the cable causing it to have extra tension. Make sure that big washer isn't sandwiching the cable.

Yeah he tried a fix but it broke again. The cable is the exact same length and connection between 32 and 34, in other words no other modification is needed? The 34 cable is available for sale

The R34 cable is longer but it doesn't matter, because as long as the ends are in the right place there is just a bigger loop in the rest of the cable.

I see a worldwide shortage of 34 fuel door release cables starting very soon. Australia's stock already sold out 3 months back

I'm confused honestly by this, as far as I can tell isn't this basically all repairable using off the shelf bicycle/motorcycle components? Other than the inevitable injection molded plastic bits. The T end piece is a very common bowden cable part that just requires the right crimper to replace, etc.

thanks Josh, that is exactly what I was trying to get at, I just wasn't aware of the term or method.

Please fix this one instead of reducing the parts remaining in a small pool!

Edit: sorry, to be clear, the fuel release end in the 32 is a plastic catch in a plastic thread which cracks....I could not see a practical way of fixing that beyond 3d design and printing which is outside my skill set

I'll bet the 34 one does work in a 33 if it worked in a 32, like a throttle cable the only things that matter are the connection at each end and the cable not being too short (too long is OK).

The good thing is the 34 is sintered metal while 32, and I think I saw 33) are plastic ends so likely to last longer.....if you can find one,

    • Sorry to hear your HFM BM57 was faulty,  did you contact HFM I would hope they would be at least grateful for the information if there was some sort of manufacturing fault, you would hope they would be sympathetic even if your item was 2 years old if it had never been fitted. May I ask where it leaked from ?
    • Cats are called Bella, and Donna...  Like that poisonous plant And I remember your 2 monsters, I remember making a little bit of wee when you let them out... LOL I have already installed cat doors into the laundry where their kitty litter is, and the sun room, apart from the cat doors there's not going to be any permanent mounted stuff on the interior walls (interior doors are cheap and easy to replace) I will get a outdoor cat cage thingie once I finish the landscaping out back... https://catnip.com.au/ The only off limit areas are the main bedroom and the gym room....but, currently the cats are curled up in bed, in the main bedroom with the Mrs.....LOL, the off limits for the kittens to the main bedroom lasted about 5 minutes with Jackie I currently only have 1 free standing huge cat tree multiple level scratching post thingie in the lounge room, but, I will be getting another one soon now that I'm happy with the furniture layout in the back room and have a perfect spot for it
    • All of this is making it seem clear that running the Coppermix twin was definitely the way to go, especially in hindsight with how insane tariffs have gotten and the strength of the USD vs yen at the time.
    • That sounds like no chance of even importing one for road registering then Now I see why Duncan wants to check LHD rules for Targa...   I wonder how "bolt in" the AWD would be if you got one imported from the US and swapped it to an AUD one
    • Not to mention they drive like a bucket of bolts! yuck!
