hey all,

I was drivin in my na r33 which doesnt seem to be all that bad.

I regulary thrash comodores, falcons, lancers and the odd integra. What i dont understand is why i couldnt even hold the line with a mitsubishi gpx fto???

I thought they were meant to b relatively slow. Not to mention the fact that he was carrying 3 passengers, (4 including himself) and all i had was my sister.

I have and free flow exhaust and k& n pod filter and his fto looked very stock with nothing more then a muffler.

I was SHAMED.

Next time should i not even try? :bs!:

Have a look at the HPI DVD volume 5 when their testing their R34GTT at Wakefield.

With boost up and exhaust etc he only just pulled past an FTO.

Sorry champ, NA33 = not a fast car

Yeah! Falcodores and 1.6 lancers + mum in her integra.

But please don't expect to beat XR's, SS's, EVO's or Type R of any Honda model!

You will be shamed again.

-joel- is on it , put simply , more power, much less weight = no chance for the poor old non turbo whale...

That said, the FTO's are a bit gutless torque wise and I can get away from one in my R31, but they do catch up once they get the revs up and start hauling, its just the RB30E gets out of the hole well with all the bottom end power it makes. In perspective, I'd say on a quarter I'd get away off the start but it would be past by half track and pulling away.

Timmaaays R31 5speed ran a nice lowish 15 sec 1/4. Some where around the 15.3 I can't remember exactly. Under tha half anyway.

Damn good I thought. Especially when you consider a 5ltr Auto VS runs the 1/4 in around a mid 15.

There's a big difference jumping in to a GTST. :D

I don't even bother with Commodores or fords unless they have some sort of 250kw+ badge hanging off the side of them. :)

Chopped a 285kw Auto VYII Clubsport a little while back with the rb20t.

Only by a bee's dick, but a bee's dick is a bee's dick. :)

Sure it was only a stocker but still not too bad for a 12yr old RB20t with 16psi, fmic and exhaust.

Did FTO's ever come out with a turbo engine? I was reading in some random car mag about an FTO owners club cruise, and they had a run down on a few of the vehicles, and one or two were listed as turbo and looked pretty stock aside from exhaust.

No, but the FTO 6A12 would probably be easily modified to the same 6A12 twin turbo running in the JDM E84A VR4s I guess. The standard 6A12 TT engine makes about 250ps/31.5kgm...wouldn't be too bad in a FWD FTO.

Theres always gonna be someone who'll chop ya. Brutus hasn't been chopped yet but as soon as that modified GTR or exotic comes along I'm sure he'll be put in his place. At the end of the day it all comes down to who's got the biggest wallet in drags methinks.

its got nothing to do with wallet size, its whos got more brains. Without naming people, ive seen 100g's thrown at a car that only runs 10's, with that much money i could build a full drag car or to put in more into perspective, with 20g's i could make most cars run a reliable 10 all day long, its who you know, what you urself know and can do. if that makes sense. money beleive it or not is not everything in this game.

its got nothing to do with wallet size.

............Bollox. Really don't wanna argue but logic says that someone who is interested in drag racing but can only afford a $5000 IS going to get chopped by someone who is interested in drag racing who pours $100 g's into a car. All other factors being equal. Nothing means 0 and it is not 0.

There are no factory turbo FTO's, but I've heard of a few aftermarket jobbies or EVO / VR4 swaps being done.

FTOs are a bit slow off the mark, but once MIVEC kicks in at (factory setting of) 5500rpm, they pull pretty well. I daresay with a exhaust and MIVEC controller they'd do good against a NA skyline. Probably come down to the driving and shifting (FTO tiptronic is sweet!)

As for a 'DET against an FTO - FTO has no chance..

Tis ok. Come and tell them to visit Brutus or another GTR with mods. I went from an RB25DET to RB26DETT and I can tell u these things pull harder and much longer. I still haven't pushed the limit to scared stilll. We can restore ur Skyline pride lol. I should not drink so mutch vodka.

I can still say post RB26DETT that an RB25DET is still a great engine esp for street drags with much potential. Ramble on.

    • So, version 4 intake is on its way I was looking at these a while ago but at around $200 or more it was a little pricey for something that might not work, but, I had it in my watch list, but, I got a message saying it was on special, and I had a code thingie to use, it eventually came in at $120 delivered, so BAM, BUY NOW.....LOL I'll need to have a look when it arrives but I feel it will "look" better than what I currently have, as it comes with a PCV fitting, so I will be able to get rid of the alloy pipe that goes to the throttle body with the PCV fitting  Well, that's what the voices in my head are telling me  Oh, and this happened today Yeap, it was a Trojan, and it was cheap, so I headed back to the hardware store and actually spent a little bit more on a heavy duty,  one that was actually recommended by a plumber mate, a Cyclone one with a fibreglass handle that is actually rated for clay The broken shovel will eventually be "modified" into a short handle shovel
    • When you pulled it off, there is no signs of blown head gasket? Is it possible you have some other issues going on? Possible cracked blocked? Or do you think it's straight up lifting the head? Did you check what the head was torqued to before pulling it down (To see if possibly they're stretching, or starting to break threads out etc)?
    • Seems like a decent result for a modded JZX110. They are bulky in comparison to the 100 and 90 models (which I'd prefer myself) but they are getting very few and far between here in JP these days. Thanks for the detailed review and the import process into the UK. I also have a car which I'm hoping to export from Japan at some stage so it's good to know if someone from the UK was interested in it. By the way the corrosion underneath is par for the course for cars which were located in/near the mountains or along the Japan sea coastline. They get huge amounts of snow every winter and the sodium chloride is used on the roads. Many cars have some kind of rubber like treatment underneath but they tend to limit it to the wheel arches underbody and fuel tank. Suspension arms and sub-frames will have similar corrosion to your JZX110 which is a common sight. See it all the time and car dealers here generally don't even mention it unless asked.
    • If the sound goes away when you clutch in, the 1.5/2 way diffs are just shit, and you are a normal person. The diff is likely "fine" but driving at anything under 30kmh is a violent horrible experience. It would be exaggerated with solid diff bushings and subframe bushings if you have those.
