Actually guys and gals we don't legally have the choice not to vote (unlike the US.) If you are over 18 you have to register and vote otherwise you can be fined... Of course you can just not turn up and risk the fine, don't think it's very much from memory..

Also even if Mz Roberts was ousted do you think the Hoon laws will change or disappear???? Doubt it somehow...

Brett, Your correct on both accounts, most likely the law would stay in-place, but doesn't mean we have to leave the bitch there to come up with other ways to make our lives worse. She has plans to add additional restrictions to the anti-hoon laws, including exhaust note and loud music:(

some religons it is their choice not to vote - and i was brought up in one of those religions (yes a long time ago)

I know legally it is required and if they do catch up with you - you do get a fine ..... but usually if you write a letter explaining your religious beliefs they let is slide.

And as Magic1 said, 100% of you will be voting against her since she is a minister for labor.

Vote for liberals, send Colin Barnett letters regarding it as HE is the one to gain from it (since he is the opposition)

The most worrying part about it is Michelle Roberts is trying to pass an amendment which allows people to dob in hoons, rather than it only being up to the police who physically witness the event.

Another scenario: Mr X's girlfriend leaves him for Mr Y. Mr X is PISSED, phones up the police and says he and his mates saw Mr Y doing a burnout in some carpark (with loads of old burnout marks to cover it)

Mr X has other people to back up his story; Mr Y is screwed.

This is a PATHETIC idea (why are we paying them good money to come up with such spastic responses to hoons????), and the current hoon law is a joke when it comes to, as said, peoples 3rd chance. Of course they should stop, but in the heat of the moment they might think they can get away with it, so will try and drive dangerous ly to do so.

Out with Michelle Roberts.

By the way, a mates car got stolen last week after the theieves did a ram raid on a bottlo ... got caught up in a police chase and were throwing bottles at the police cars. They got away because they drove up a one-way street and the police weren't allowed to pursue. If it's as easy as that to get away from police, then this is going to be an added incentive for the perpetrators to just run.

I really dont think voting should be compulsary anyway.

Lauren, that's something the Liberals would also like. Basically because political apathy is far more prevalent among the less socioeconomically fortunate.

If voting were no longer compulsory we would not get the same result with less votes. The result would be totally different.

I'm not, because people who have no idea what's going on with the governments (most of Australia) generally don't follow politics

Therefore if it weren't compulsory, then only the ones interested in politics would vote, and we'd have a government whose policies are most important for society, rather than the one who has been in the least embarrassments (which they'll read on the front cover of a newspaper and therefore sway public opinion)

That would mean that the government would only represent the few that voted, as much as I hate that dumb people are allowed to vote, I still think it is the better system.

Without wanting to get off track, I'm voting against labour cause I don't want this bitch to have any more say:D

I agree there's people out there that have no idea who or what they are voting for anyway.

What other countries are there where voting is compulsary? i dont think theres that many left.

I think we should all enter a dictatorship and make me your leader! :)

if that makes any difference to the laws she's put in place i'd be very suprised - she'll just be replaced with another bitch ...... i dont think whoever gets voted in is really interested in the minority groups and what they want .... they just want to appease the bigger groups like families and the older generation that makes up most of the voters by painting a picture that the youth of australia is out of control with their hoon cars and going into clubbing areas at night ..... and they are going to put a stop to it for the good of all. :)

Politics is just marketing ...... its like macdonalds series of ad's trying to paint a picture that its healthy to eat maccas ...... the politicians are trying to paint a picture that thier poisonous laws are just in the countries best interest to swallow.

So Niz what you are sayin is dont vote for females?

LOL male politicians are even bigger phuck ups ..... example: George Bush

In fact i think politicians are a species of their own from a far distant planet to make our lives miserable.

Up comming election is federal not state, state is at least 6 months away.

If you want to do something target public servants who think these policies up, or police commissioner etc

Michelle roberts is just a figure head puppet.

Liberal labour wouldnt make a lick of difference with a law like this.

breathe in breathe out drive sanely in sane areas.

a petition with 50 000 names would be alot better as an idea to show the idiocity of these laws

Tom

Agreed, A petition should be done now, shown to Ms Roberts, if nothing is done (likely) then if Liberal gets in in the state election then show it to them, then there would be a slight chance of getting it changed, more chance than if Labour stayed in. Worth a try.

I was having a walk at lunch time, and some tool in an ALP shirt was delivering ALP flyers for Kim Mackies "Making a difference in Swan" on a scooter. This dick proceeded to break almost every know road rule in delivering this junk. Where are the cops when you need them. Be funny to see one of there own being done for his hoonish antics:D

    • Seat of the pants assessment of the new intake: The car is way less "doughy" when hitting the loud pedal, especially off idle when stopped or in traffic, I did use a cheapo lazer thermal thingo to measure the temp around where the pod filter got its air, it was between 55 - 60°C, in saying this the car was shut off and not moving, so the OEM intake pipe was not supplying any fresh air to where the pod was when the car was at least moving A weird bonus was induction noise on the throttle in the cabin increased a bit,  I was worried that I was actually going to lose some of that induction noise I love so much, outside though, when I got the daughter to do a WOT drive by pass for me, the induction noise has increased alot when on the throttle, not quite ITB doort, but well up there I'm extremely happy with the results and have been exploring the country roads in the region  As for house mods: 1.New front fence is up and is awesome, it really upgraded how the joint looks from the street, and the added security is nice 2. Electricians have replace some interior lights, and with more lighting in the garage, a few new motion detecting lights out the front above the garage, front room, and at the front door, which I have already found heaps helpful coming and going, also now has fancy pants CCTV all round the house The only hold point for power though is the solar and batteries due to supply issues, although this will happen over the next few weeks 3. I have done a heap of landscaping out the front and I'm almost ready to do a new small retaining wall with some nice blocks to replace the brick and cemented in rocks around the raised garden beds cemented in river stone "was the fashion at the time" the house was built. I currently have a pallet of retaining wall blocks and 2 bulka bags of 20mm blue metal to replace the wood chip that is in the raised garden beds around the house 4. I now have 3 big raised garden beds for out the back to grow some vegetables, about 70cm high, 200cm long and 100cm wide 5. My 2 compost bins are already pretty full with brown, green and kitchen waste from the landscaping I'vedone so far, but they will probably take a few months to break down, so anything else that gets chopped, trimmed, and kitchen waste will just start filling the base of the raised garden beds to about 30cm before I start throwing 40cm of good compost, and stuff, for the vegetables to grow in, I'll need a few ton of compost and soil, but the local supplier can sent me bulka bags of the stuff Basically the logs, wood chips and a few strategically placed rocks for drainage, will give the beds some good organic materials down low to break down over time, and they will hold moisture during the warmer months to save the water in my big arse water tank if we don't get alot of rain So, all in all, the car and house mods are going well, and I'm really enjoying being retired, I sleep in too 0700 and slowly plod around inside until I feel like actually doing anything, and only work in the yard for as long as want, which has actually been alot over the last few weeks,  although when you look at it, it seems that not a huge amount of work has been done,  until I look at the before I started the work pics Happy days and good times indeed
    • hahaha yeah. Plan is to get side skirts and probably just rear pods. But going to do them one-by-one. I've got a set that I really like from RHDJapen, but that one isn't shipped to AU. So need to find someone who can get it for me
