hey guys...

how much would this conversion cost ( rb20 in a 180 )  say from a r32 f/c or a cefiro f/c & i'de be selling the sr20det + gearbox...

any are there any issues with this conversion ??? thank you!!

A 5 speed manual RB20DET 1/2 cut with the front brakes sells for $2400. You should be able to sell your motor + g/box + loom + ecu + afm etc for around the $2000 mark.

The motor physically bolts in, you use the R32 radiator, crossmember, g/box mount, power steer pump. While you are upgrading the motor, I would suggest doing the 4 pot caliper upgrade to the front.

You can't use the engine fan as there isn't enough room between the fire wall and radiator support, so thermo fans are used.

maybe seeming you will get some decent $$ for the SR20DET, get yourself a rb25det...

but going from sr20det to rb20det, same as above... why?

I am currently doing the conversion myself.. from sr20DE to rb20det any questions... let me know

Not an rb20 please. Get something decent like an rb25. Or better yet dont do a conversion. The sr's are well known for their ability to double their power with bolt on mods. with over 2 grand you could get a few parts that would go on that would make decent hp, like a frount mount and a new turbo, possibly injectors though you would be streching your budget.

the issue..

why the hell would you swap out an SR20 with an RB20?

the SR20 kills the RB20 hands down, and your 180 will be waaaay to front heavy with an RB20 anyhow.

I'd stick with an SR20 all the way

I have a RB20 in my S13 hatch... great motor and the car has excellent handling with my Kei Office Type XT footwork... don't mind what people say about the RB making the car front heavy. Check my signature to see the details on my car.

Granted... if I had a SR in my car originally... vs my original KA24DE truck motor... I'd just sell my S13 buy a used GTR.

    • Yeah I also looked at Plazmaman, but, it ended up alot  cheaper getting black ones through EFI when you also added in the delivery cost
    • Nice shot! They look super clean. The roof rack delete on the black one is interesting. Would like to see more pictures from different angles. It's subtle but could make quite a difference to how the car looks in profile.
