Yeah I thought it was a community thing too but obviously not.

Nah it's a lemon... let's see whats gone wrong so far...

air inlet pipe not screwed in

steering rack boots broken

cat not screwed in tight (exhaust doesn't fit right, it scratches/hits a bit of the underside of the car)

clutch slave master secured with one bolt half screwed in (yes really it was hangin off the side of the gearbox)

engine not secured (yes really it wasn't screwed in AT ALL)

rb20 loom still all over the place (it caused a fire)

intercooler welds have drips on the inside of the pipe of welding

turbo oil return line not long enough and made out of bent improvised hot water pipe or some shit (it fell off when i was driving, almost caused a fire, and when the mechanic looked at it he said i should buy a lottery ticket cos he was suprised my turbo did not blow up with that pipe on it - it was hose, pipe, hose all in one)

gearbox leaking (and syncros ****ed)

engine leaking from multiple places somewhere (tba)

3/6 sump screws had broken heads (ie they just screwed the sump on, broke the heads, knew the screws were useless and not holding it in and just left it)

rear brake pads were pure steel (burned holes into the rear rotors so large chunks of metal were actually missing)

front pads non existant ("DO NOT change your pads they will last you for a long long time" the point was actually made when i didnt even ask..)

RHS wheel bearing done up so tight it ****ed the hub (had to buy a new one, this wasn't old, the people who put it on just did it up waaay too tight..)

LHS wheel well not watertight (after they shoved the loom in, this still leaks in the wet)

multiple T connectors with a screw shoved into it as a "poor mans straight connector"

injectors = ****ed (caused pinging, they've been resprayed a different colour too for some reason)

intercooler piping joins frayed and getting rubbed through on the body

air con condensor left in car with fan still on/attached when there is no functioning air con (ie they removed half of it and left pipes in the engine bay)

exhaust leaking in multiple spots (they didnt use gaskets)

multiple wires I've had to replace that have been about 1/10th of the current load requirements of that circuit

not to mention the numerous other dangling tubes/cables/wires

That's just what's happened to the car since I've owned it so really I'm the ****wit that bought it so it sucks to be me haha I'm dissapointed really more than anything but it just goes to show some people would sell their own grandmother if they could.

As for the previous owner he reads these forums so far he hasn't said much since things started to go wrong. Most of the guys helping me have been especially ceffo and too_much and everyone else who has suggested things and given me advice/info.

I mean I have to look at the positives ... I can say I was in a car going about 260kmh without the engine being bolted in.. can you say that?

Jesus...thats a sorry list of probs:( I take it you didnt get the car inspected? If not i perhaps understand why:( Shame im not in the same position i was in 12 months ago, unemplyed, bored in Sydney with tripple garage:(

Again all the best getting it sorted...half the battle is sussing out the probs, and it sounds as though you have your head around the probs...again good luck with it all:cheers:

Thanks mate - I hope you're now employed, not so bored but still got yer triple garage :)

So far yeah with some help from peoples here and there and generally having problems fall out (in some cases quite literally) I think there are most of them. Off course I'm not listing the ones that aren't really problems at the moment like the exhaust knocking on the car when you're travelling and minor stuff like that but with any luck we'll have a nice clean reliable car in the near future!

Well its pretty obvious that there is not a lot of bad luck in that list.

Damn, i had no idea it would be that bad.

Mate, if i had enough knowledge i would love to help out.

Its time, i got off my ass and got my cefiro registered (hopefully i wont have quite the same troubles as you) and then i can join in the cefiro team drift. :)

I'll take your turbo, and your rear bar..

oh wait, I already stole your rear bar, and i'll just drive behind you one day and pick up your turbo after it falls off :P

OUCH....that was rough.......lol......I suppose you are allowed to say that considering you have been helping with the issues ;)

Actually i wouldnt mind a new gearknob.

Whats your address again?

Let's all share I say heh heh :hippy:

Actually hopefully I'll get this thing stitched today and show ya how it turned out - if it goes good then everyone else will know how to fit Jays r32 gearstick+handbrake boots fit a cefiro :P

heh :bahaha:

My car has probs hahaha.

I have the dreaded 4000rpm miss from the coil packs, mega play in the steering, exposed wires in the wheel well, gearbox mount is gone etc etc... its all good though. Im happy its finally registered!

Well hello there CC, seems we have a one-sided post here, lets enlighten the rest of the group shall we?

No I can't recall this myself, but when was the last time I didnt answer your call? Or any of your calls for that matter?

Now for the car condition, the car was driven for 6 months prior to your ownership and yes, 2 times, there was an electrical issue which I was assured was fixed. Perhaps a word to the autoelectrician is in order. Most of the issues you are talking about really are minor and to be expected in any older vechile, except for the turbo oil line which was fitted by ice performance when I supplied braided lines.

With regard to the aircon, I had already mentioned to you it would not be worth retro fitting. Not happy with the gearbox? Well I did throw in a Bride seat that was not part of the original deal and is worth a pretty penny.

You make no mention of the $200 I gave you for the supposed stuffed steering rack which wasn't stuffed at all but only needed a new boot (for the princely sum of $15).

Do you even recall what I told you to do when you got back home from picking up the car? Here's a reminder, get it put up on a hoist so you can check it out. Check the brakes, suspenion, undercarriage as I hadn't had a chance to do it and most cars that are 15 years old do have some issues. Is this the first thing you did? The answer to that is quite obviously No.

I sold the car in good faith at cheaper than the market value because it was in "as is" condition. Had I done the work required the price would have been easily $5-7k higher, more in the realm of where Riverside and Ni are selling their cars. You were aware of this and accepted as this gave you a chance to do the things you wanted to do and have a car to drive.

You have bought a car with proven performance, lots of name brand parts, an 8 page feature car in a current magazine and drop dead traffic stopping looks for an absolute steal.

Judging by your comments and expectations, you would have been better off buying a new or nearly new car. Reading some of your posts where you said you might have been better importing you obviously havent seen some of the issues and costs people have with importing highly modded Cefiros.

Meggala.

    • I wasn’t able to replicate the sound anymore. It was a one time sound so maybe it was just coincidence but it was like small pebbles being dropped in a coke can.   should I try cleaning the MAF? It could be it’s functioning but dirty? I don’t know.
    • Update 4: Hi all. The car drives again! Haven't driven for long, only to store it in the garage again, but the test drive was successful. The coolant and oil leaks seem to be fixed for now. Temps on the engine were also very good, while moving I never even saw 80C water during the approx. 30 minute drive. Ate up all the coolant in the reservoir though so will have to fill that even more when I go to the car next time. One thing that pisses me off is that the RPM gauge is still f**ked, I even resoldered the board twice and used copper paste on the silly screws that are used as connections. Next time I take it out I'll take apart the board and fit new components, I'll see if I can get a replacement IC for it.  I have an appointment set for 22nd of September for the engine tune to 370hp. Alignment also still needs to be done. My hope is that I can get all the legal stuff over with by the end of this season. Anyone of you have advice regarding intercoolers? Currently there is an APEXI core fitted, one of those weird hybrid ones, 600x270x76. I don't think it's bad but it's not new and now I still have the chance to change it now to legally include it in the paperwork. Only issue is that the only options that would arrive in time are a HKS Type R intercooler or generic Ebay spec intercoolers comparable to a JustJap one. Ideally I'd order a Plazmaman but it takes over a month to receive which would mean making the car legal has to wait until next season. Would love to hear some input on this. Same story for my injectors, the previous owner was a nunce and put ID 1050x on the engine. They work but are obviously not ideal at "normal" power levels. But I don't see a reason to change them unless the tuner says it's necessary. I read online before buying a different exhaust that the top secret style rear diffusers won't fit due to the size of the rear resonators. My buddy and I made it work by slightly "adjusting the shape" of the mounting bracket and making some spacers out of 3d print for the mounting bolts. Fits like a charm. Just putting this here in case someone has this problem. Even the hefty HKS Silent Hi Power rear can fits without hitting anything.
    • Well they got my money but they are not getting my gearbox !
    • It's needed for rolling idle up, and I think it is a decider on VCT also.
    • I mean, not really. Link ECU's can absolutely still have errors from the ECU thinking it's getting a sensor it's not expecting. I would imagine the speed at the ECU level in Nistune does absolutely nothing anyway? I assume the ECU does not do any fancy TC stuff with regards to front+rear wheel speed or anything of that like anyway. Someone who uses Nistune may be more fluent in it.
