So a friend tells me Aldi sell PC's, and i'm like yeah shit ones, but i dunno, this looks pretty good??

Most you forums geeks :D probably remember my other thread, bout building a Monster 3D PC, within a budget, what about this one?

Could i build this PC for less? Would it be good for 3D? You think i should buy it?

Obviously no monitor, and only 512mb RAM, but you think with a bit more RAM could have a go-er?

cheers y'all

I've seen that in the paper.

It would be a rocket ship, but without a screen it's pretty high priced.

I guess you could take the add down to CPL and get them to make up something similar and probably faster for less money.

one thing... they normally get their electronics in and on sale on thursday... theyre normally sold out within half an hour of opening if ur lucky.

so if they arent already sold out... u had better hurry ur arse up and get in there :D

well dude from what i can see looks to F***** good lol.. only thing i am unsure about is that the P4processor 550. 800 MHz Front side Bus... stands for.... other than that good deal.... but dont appear to come with a monitor. :D

im building a P4 3.6 with 2GB of RAM and dual 250GB drives with a 256MB raedon with dual 19inch monitors... so far the whole thing comes to a little over 3k.

im sure if u cut down on other bits u could build an entire PC to same specs if not better for little over 2k

so i could build one cheaper??? If i could build the above cheaper, then i wouldn't worry about it... i just thought that this might one of those ones which you COULDN't build cheaper.

Also has everything i wanted. 16x DVD-RW, TV Card, Dual monitor gfx card, and really good CPU. Oh and looks like good audio too. I might give CPL a call, and see what they can do. Cos i still want a couple of monitors, and DON'T need things like fax modems, etc

cheers.

inark, why would you choose a p4 over a amd 64? especially considering 64 bit windows will be out early next year, and the p4's over 2.8ghz run hotter than hell ?

you seem to want to spend bucketloads of money, so,

if you wait about a month, you can get a nforce4 chipset socket 939 m/board that has SLI on it that can have two of those fancy video cards you want. ( you can start with one then get another later if money is a constraint )

how would dual vid cards with your nice (and expensive :)) dual 19" displays !!

eventually you could add two more 19" diplays to the mix and have 4 monitors running off your machine. !!

YOU COULD READ 4 SAU THREADS AT ONCE, FULLSCREEN :)

I'm not saying the AMD isn't a great CPU it's just at this stage there is no support for it. Yes Longhorn is set to be released "early" next year but so was the V35 GTR if you get my drift?

AMD and Intel both make very good popducts. I'm also looking for a new PC but waiting for the release of the new version of Windows.

the 64 bit windows beta that is already available will be properly released early next year afaik, this isnt longhorn, its just xp with 64bit support.

isnt longhorn still slated for 2006?

if your looking to upgrade or buy in the next 3 months and you plan on playing games at all i would recommend athlon 64's atm especially nforce 3 chipset boards, and nforce 4's if they are out when you buy.

lol 4 monitors.... then i could play flight sims with a monitor for almost each window haha

nah i'll stick to me P4... had AMDs before and they just didnt cut it for me... nicely priced but thats about all they really had going for em... its like jap vs euro where jap is AMD which is way better bang for buck but euro is always just that little better in build quality :)

chinny... go to www.msy.com.au and get a comparitive price from there... generally found them cheaper than CPL.

ok... u can build one with better parts for less but without all the gimicky crap u probably wont need...

do u need a:

-56k modem

-Wireless

-Bluetooth

-TV Tuner

-Card Reader

Motherboard

G-B 81925X-G $245

CPU

P4 3.4Ghz 800FSB $385

RAM

2 x 512MB PC3200 DDR400 $188

HDD

WD 250GB 8MB IDE $159

GFX Card

Winfast PCX6600GT DVI Express PCI $345

DVD ROMs

LG 16x DVD ROM $35

LG 16x DVD-R $92

Case

Coolermaster CAV-T01 with Silent P/S $175

Thats 1545 so far...

Just add in a decent sound card and a nice wireless keyboard and mouse and wireless network card and its about the same but with more RAM and a better GFX card and way better case.

    • Hi GTSBoy, Excuse my ignorance but what does a "Bad" Knee point mean ?
    • HFM BM57 has a "bad" knee point, IIRC. It's not the same thing as the later R chassis MC.
    • The ATTESSA is functionally identical to R34; there were a bunch of JDM models that continued ATTESSA including Fuga/Q70, Skyline/Q50, Cima etc as an option. All with Auto only and I think mostly for snow regions. AFAIK there were no AWD VR30DDTT sold in Australia - it is on my to do list to check regs for racing a LHD car in Targa/ATR/AASA/CAMS events because if I can get the auto to work it would be interesting to run a 4wd car The Ecuteck TCM tuning is the same model as their ECU tuning, they already have it for R35 and Dose's favourite, BMW. You buy "points" to allow your computer to be tuned, buy either a bluetooth (phone app) or bluetooth+USB+Key (phone and PC) dongle, and pay for a tune that will be locked to your tuner ( ). You can also access the tuning software yourself but 1. it is mega expensive and 2. these computers have a billion parameters that intersect, so how could you ever spend enough time on it to get a decent result.
    • Or, is it a case of what it is like owning an R series Skyline? NFI what the previous owner has done or fiddled with... Ha ha ha After reading through this thread, I went on a bit of a research about the Q50/Q60. Now I'm quite intrigued by them! Is the AWD in them more like a WRX where it's always AWD, or is it more like the ATTESSA in the GTRs? By the sound of this TCU tuning, this sounds like a case of someone has made some real software for it, and you just need the right piece of hardware, and then you license that specific vehicle/TCU. Or is this a case of the software will be really expensive so only a few tuners have it, and you still have to pay a license per vehicle?
    • By popular demand.. it was a coil. Got my hands on 1 new OEM coil, replaced with the one that made the less noise difference when I unplugged it while the car was running and started the car up. No stutter and the engine light was gone. I guess I’ll buy the other 5 they have lol
