with the short shifter, do you have to reach lower as well after it's installed?

nope, not at all,

it reduces the throw, i.e the distance between 2nd and 3rd etc. If you take your stock shifter and put it next to your c's youll notice their exactly the same size however the angled bit at the bottom is angled more thus reducing the time it takes to enter each gear,

A short shifter is a must for everyone, every other gearbox feels no way near as solid as a gearbox with a short shifter when shifting gears.

well i am definitely not someone who is very mechanically minded but i put mine in yesterday by myself and i did it in just under half an hour, if i did it again i could do it in half the time! Would definitely recommend buying one, love driving the car even more now!

Yep the C's short shifter is awesome fitted mine in about 10 to 15mins very clever design and i'm very happy with the reason on my gtr r33 :P

so you guys all have genuine C's short shifters? cos i've heard there a few knock-off abouts.

may i ask the price of these? can you get them for R34 GT-T's?

these aren't bad for the gearbox are they?

well mine came in the c's box and the warranty card and i bought it well before the cheap replicas became popular

Yes u can get them for 34's, the price varys as c's have stopped making short shift kits ages ago as they are bankrupt.

Yes they do **** your gearbox over time, but its worth it

i'm to came the same (dam big box for a shifter)

i got mine through a contact in japan (workshop)

if interested pm me and i can pass on his contact details

pete

Real C's shifter wasn't cheap tho (top notch quality)

You say they **** your gearbox, but by what sort of span are we talking about here, and how exactly does the kit actually stuff the box up?

I have been interested in getting one of these into my r33 gts-t but i dont want it blowing my gearbox up.

short shifter will not damage a gearbox it only shorten selection which will not effort internal working at all.

as the short shifter reduces the travel between gears, it definately increases synchro wear, as you are shortening the selection, the synchros have less time to work, and more wear occurs.

    • just an update to this, poor man pays twice  Tried sanding down the pulleys but it didnt do the trick. Chucked another second hand alternator in the na car which I got for free off my mate and its fixed the squelling. Must have been unlucky with the bearings.    As for my turbo car, I managed to pick up a cwc rb alternator conversion bracket + LS alternator for 250 off marketplace, looked to be in really good nick. Installed it , started the car and its not charging the battery.... ( Im not good with auto elec stuff so im not sure if this was all I needed to do but I verified such by using a multimeter on the battery when the engine was running and I was only getting 12.2v )   I had to modify the earth strap for the new LS alternator , factory earth strap was a 10mm bolt which did not fit the bolt on the LS alternator which was double the size so I cut it off , went to repco bought some ring terminals that fit, crimped it onto the old earth strap and bolted it up to the alternator , started the car and same issue. Ran like shit and was reading 12.2 at the battery.  For a "plug and play" advertised kit thats not very plug and play but alas.  My question is , am I missing something ? Ive been reading that some people recommend upgrading the stock 80 amp alternator fuse to a 140 amp but I dont see how that would stop the alternator charging especially at idle not under load.  Regardless ive pulled it out and am going to get it bench tested by an auto elec tomorrow but it would be handy to know if ive missed something silly or have done something wrong.
    • My wild guess is that you have popped off an intake pipe....check all of the hoses between the turbo and the throttle for splits or loose clamps.
    • Awesome, thanks for sharing!
    • To provide more specific help, more information is needed. What Android screen? What is its wiring diagram? Does the car's wiring have power at any required BAT and ACC wires, and is the loom's earth good?
    • So, now all you need to do is connect the 2 or 3x 12v feeds into the unit to permanent 12v, ACC 12V and IGN 12V that you can find in the spot behind the stereo, and the earth, and then it will switch on with the car.
