As one of my mates put it, Welcome to the world of Government Bureaucracy.

The NCA have contacted me this morning and require public liability insurance on my behalf before they will approve use of the car park. This puts a major dent in the plans of the cruise. I have contacted an insurance company that deals with charity organisations and unfortunately the cost will be around $600 as a minimum. They advised that we an event this big I am taking a massive risk of being sued should something go wrong.

A disclaimer can only go so far, so my options are...

1. Up the cost of the cruise from $10 - $20. Being an upfront fee to be paid before the event so I know who is attending and part of the cruise (and to pay insurance).

2. In the event that I am able to pay for public liability I will have to use/start a non-profit organisation.

3. Cancel the cruise

4. Any ideas?

Ah, the joys of organised events...

SkylinesAustralia is a CAMS affiliated club, isn't it? Therefore, it must be an incorporated club, and this club can take out a public liability insurance policy for club events.

However - given that members don't actually 'join', there might be some issues.

Worth chasing up.

FU*K I AM GETTING SERIOUSLY SICK OF OUR GOVERNMENT!!!!!

answer is simple, move the meeting place, cotter is reasonable, but there are better places, questacon carpark, or just next to it at reggatta point? any other suggestions?

i wont be paying any more than $10 to do the cruise and i think you'll find alot of other people hold the same oppinion so the numbers will dramatically drop.

very very angry at our govermnment at the moment!

dude dont cancelllllllll no chance everyone is so looking forward to this. move the venue to somewhere else. why doesnt each car group meet at one point and the cruise together down to the cotter?? will be plenty of parking and the money can be given to a single person in each group. just dont cancel

Dont bother with the NCA, no-one else ever does when they organise a cruise. The way you have been setting this up, I assumed you were part of a CAMS affiliated club and could get all the appropriate insurance organised through them??

If youre just organising this of your own free time, not through an incorporated club, dont bother with NCA etc. Just list a time and place and people will show.

Just sent Ewan an email, Duncan a PM. We arent gone yet, Jayce and I are trying everything to keep this going.

For the record, even if we move the event somewhere else I am still liable as the event organiser should someone want to sue. If there were 20 or so cars I wouldnt be worried too much, with around 100 or so I am its a big risk. After the bloody approval process I have been through its bloody ridiculous that the NCA come back to me a week before the event.

We will have to make this happen!

Skylines Australia NSW is a CAMS affiliated club and has access to public liability insurance under them, but the amount of paperwork required prior to an event would push it back by weeks/months.

If you were running this as an official/CAMS event then you would bother with NCA approval etc.

Just run it as all other clubs do, name a time and place and people will show.

Amaru - Not sure what the situation is with SAU NSW and who they normally arrange public liability insurance with but I have been in contact with Community Care who are able to provide public liability insurance for non-profit organisations fairly quickly. The approval is processed online and I have someone that will look at it straight away should we have an organisation ready to go.

The problem is, if I name a time and place, I am deemed in a court of law, the event organiser and am potentially liable for any law suits. With 100 cars coming its a possibility.

This may come down to me registering as an organisation. Its pretty sad this is required to raise funds for a good cause.

I feel really angry ATM, like I am certain all do. However there are enough good pple working to make this happen that I have the confidence it will go ahead.

I'll be there on the day, no matter the outcome. As an individual (in a large group of ppl trying to do some good).

EDIT:

Public Carparks are PUBLIC by nature of definition?

Motor Vehicle accidents that occur either in PUBLIC carparks or on PUBLIC roads are covered under compulsory Motor Vehicle registration/insurance ?

Am I making sense ?

I can understand the issue of public liability:imagine if someone held you responsible for damage to cars and/or people:any of you prepared to lay the rest of your life paying off a bad judgement call? I can't,and wont, blame Glenn for getting nervous! I'm more pissed at the individual/s that must've known this would be required, and left it 'till the last minute(deliberately?) to spring it upon us.Niiiiice work, morons! But,as stated,we're not beaten yet! And can anyone give me the name,so I can query him/her after this cruise is done,of the person that did this? Serious doubt must arise as to their sense of timing and their understanding of their job description...

OMG!!! WTF!!! this is bullsh!t!!! we are not cancelling cruise, this was like my highlight for the month!! i wouldnt be happy to pay $10 but if i had to i would, there is NO WAY we are cancelling! ill be soooooo pissed off if its cancelled! atleast we have other options, it better not be cancelled for good. but as of location, im down for anything.

This may come down to me registering as an organisation. Its pretty sad this is required to raise funds for a good cause.

Would it be possible to get the red cross to sign on as the not-for-profit organisation, as they are where the money raised is going?

    • What 1.5 way? There's no such thing really as a 1.5 way, just different ways of explaining 2 ways with different ramp rates. HOWEVER. In any driving in a straight line your 1.5 or 2 or 1.7 way should have no clunking at all. With the clutch fully depressed the diff should be silent (unless it's welded but I'm assuming it's not). Something aint right here.
    • Clutch is a spec brand, new clutch system,( PP, flywheel, friction disc, etc. pull type) installed 100 miles ago, with no problems.
    • looking for some help and maybe some insight on others experience with a new LSD. R34 GT ran and drove beautifully, but always alot of grip loss due to the open R200 rear end, so I just installed a new 1.5 LSD way into the stock open R200 for a ER34. Simple. Everything seemed right. I test drove for the first time this weekend. as I started to back out the garage the first time slowly with tires straight it sounded and felt like I had a loose or half disconnected drive shaft...that was clucking around loose and shaking entire vehicle, and making it feel like the trans clutch was spontaneously slipping then grabbing very roughly while just letting out pedal slowly. I backed it out went to pull forward with the same noise, shake and slip grab feeling with hesitation, I turned the tires to back out more and then pulled ahead some same thing but worst because of added wheel resistance (which that I expected) puzzled … pulling it back in checking everything over and finding nothing wrong, I tried it the next day. same thing, couldn’t believe how it shook everything again making a terrible noise and making it feel like the trans clutch was slipping and grabbing, but I got it out of garage into the driveway, got it straight, drove forward and then reveres a few times in a straight line everything shaking , causing what felt like clutch slip and grab every time, sounded like right behind front driver tire and I could feel it in the floor board with my feet,... worst right when beginning to let clutch pedal out to engage slightly, shuttering and sounding terrible along the way…I managed to slowly get down the road, babying it the whole way, once I was rolling (out of 1st) seemed to be better and between shifts, then clutch felt closer to normal…not slip/ grab etc., but back down to any stop, straight road or turning, same thing. Made no difference if all tires were straight or if I was turning. All other gauge read out correct. with in 2 miles as planned I reached the empty parking lot and performed the break in procedure that came with lsd, essentially to drive in a figure 8 a bunch.  Did this, binding chattering, and shaking the car the whole way. I drove it back home seemed somewhat normal once I was in straight line and past 10 mph or so, and I know it will “bind” on corners and cause some tires squeal when turning especially from a stop, but when I begin to move it still causes what feels like the trans clutch to slip and jerk badly as well as shaking the entire car, and sounds terrible, that I didn’t expect. I used the fluid they supplied with LSD kit and did the breaking, planning to change fluid as they suggest after breaking, but wondering will it get smoother or less aggressive with use? maybe a 1.5 is just too aggressive for normal road driving?   I have a LSD that I put in my 71 cuda when I restored it, with amazing smooth , quite yet effective results. Different style LSD but that ones a joy to drive. maybe expecting too much from this R200?
