I got in trouble for saying all the truth I said about SM last time.

I just blatantly retold the story of what happened to us and how dodgy our car was... and I got introuble saying "They read this you know" Like some kind of threat that they were going to come and kill me or something ...

I bought my car from Auto J Mart (or AJM) about 15 months ago and I have no complaints. I have done 30000km since then and haven't had a problem. The only money I have spent is on fun stuff, and thats the way it should be.

But I will say, like all sales people you still have to watch them. They are there to make as much money as possible and at every opportunity they tried to get me to sign on the dotted line before they completed the things I asked for. Thats normal though. Just do alot of research. I only wish I knew then what I know now, it would have made purchasing, and more importantly bargaining much easier.

Agreed, don't go there. Import it or buy second hand - which luckily enough, mine is for sale

Cheers,

Any reason why? A mate of mine bought one through there and it seemed ok. Feel free to PM since you cannot really post on the forums.

Thanks.

My mate bought a 180SX through AJM and had a few problems with it, I wont go slagging off a company here as other people are saying they've had good results though them, needless to say $1300 later his 180SX is now going great. PM me if anyone has questions about that. I think the best thing you can do is a sh1tload of research, take your time because knowledge is power, and the more power and knowledge you have the better you will come out in the end, even if it does take a little bit longer.

Try Special vehicle imports SVI.com.au in Virginia

I recently imported a mint r33gtr v-spec with 40k on it and the whole experience was effortless.

Had no problems with car so far and am very pleased with it.

They are good people . Just specify our requirements and they will do the rest.

all da best

Ike

hey all i bought my 95 r33 gts25t from a dealer called gold star autos with 108000kms for $13000 had a cpl of tiny problems like about 2 weeks after i picked up the car the speedo started to play up a bit and one of the switches for the headlights stopped working, however was fixed within a cpl of days no problems at all. the car had been in aus for a cpl of weeks and just finished getting complied the day i looked at the car. he would have to have atleast 20-30 skylines in stock at anyone time. his website is http://www.goldstarautos.com.au/ all the contact details are there. also when you go to view a car he will put it up on a hoist for you to have a look underneath it.

I'm closing this given that the majority of the info is very old and therefore of little use, and the fact that it's been dug up more than once.

Thanks for posting your experiences guys but please try to find a more recent thread :D

    • The rain is the best time to push to the edge of the grip limit. Water lubrication reduces the consumption of rubber without reducing the fun. I take pleasure in driving around the outside of numpties in Audis, WRXs, BRZs, etc, because they get all worried in the wet. They warm up faster than the engine oil does.
    • When they're dead cold, and in the wet, they're not very fun. RE003 are alright, they do harden very quickly and turn into literally $50 Pace tyres.
    • Yeah, I thought that Reedy's video was quite good because he compared old and new (as in, well used and quite new) AD09s, with what is generally considered to be the fast Yokohama in this category (ie, sporty road/track tyres) and a tyre that people might be able to use to extend the comparo out into the space of more expensive European tyres, being the Cup 2. No-one would ever agree that the Cup 2 is a poor tyre - many would suggest that it is close to the very top of the category. And, for them all to come out so close to each other, and for the cheaper tyre in the test to do so well against the others, in some cases being even faster, shows that (good, non-linglong) tyres are reaching a plateau in terms of how good they can get, and they're all sitting on that same plateau. Anyway, on the AD08R, AD09, RS4 that I've had on the car in recent years, I've never had a problem in the cold and wet. SA gets down to 0-10°C in winter. Not so often, but it was only 4°C when I got in the car this morning. Once the tyres are warm (ie, after about 2km), you can start to lay into them. I've never aquaplaned or suffered serious off-corner understeer or anything like that in the wet, that I would not have expected to happen with a more normal tyre. I had some RE003s, and they were shit in the dry, shit in the wet, shit everywhere. I would rate the RS4 and AD0x as being more trustworthy in the wet, once the rubber is warm. Bridgestone should be ashamed of the RE003.
    • This is why I gave the disclaimer about how I drive in the wet which I feel is pretty important. I have heard people think RS4's are horrible in the rain, but I have this feeling they must be driving (or attempting to drive) anywhere close to the grip limit. I legitimately drive at the speed limit/below speed the limit 100% of the time in the rain. More than happy to just commute along at 50kmh behind a train of cars in 5th gear etc. I do agree with you with regards to the temp and the 'quality' of the tyre Dose. Most UHP tyres aren't even up to temperature on the road anyway, even when going mad initial D canyon carving. It would be interesting to see a not-up-to-temp UHP tyre compared against a mere... normal...HP tyre at these temperatures. I don't think you're (or me in this case) is actually picking up grip with an RS4/AD09 on the road relative to something like a RE003 because the RS4/AD09 is not up to temp and the RE003 is closer to it's optimal operating window.
    • Either the bearing has been installed backwards OR the gearbox input shaft bearing is loosey goosey.   When in doubt, just put in a Samsonas in.
