Today i got an email from [email protected]

Email states and refers to my purchase of a service manual on ebay.

2 weeks ago i purchased a service manual for R32/33 for $36 inc delivery.

This manual is awsome, has everything to do with the engine on all varients of the R32 and 33. I noticed a statement on the second page noting that this document cannot be coppied and so forth.

This manual is a gen Nissan manual. It had been scaned to Adobe and saved in pdf.

Anyway back to the email. It says that im in breach of copyright laws by purchasing a copy of this manual and that i will be summonsed to apear in a court of law in the following weeks. So i wrote back to this email address and just got a delivery failure notice. I dont understand, I noticed all the manuals have disappeared from ebay and no one seems to be selling them atm. I also notice someone on the forums selling a similar product. Anyone know what this is about and what may happen.

I called legal advice, they said it seems a bit of BS as they dont send emails saying they will summons you. They will just rock up at your house at night and summons you personally with no warning.

Im a little worried, so i better post a dont buy these guides online warning.

From an IT perspective, the domain support.co.jp is unregistered, so the email address is a fake. If they were going to send you a nasty email it would come from [email protected] or something similar (let's face it, a japanese lawyer is not going to litigate in a US or AUS courtroom). Also, when the ebay auction started, Nissan could have simply contacted ebay and had it taken down, instead of sitting around waiting for someone to buy. Or they could go after the 'supplier'. I find it all too far fetched.

So the email's a fake. Who's it from?

If you like conspiracies, I go for Miss White in the library with the candle stick.

Or the ebay seller (unlikely - what's s/he to gain from it)

Or pissed off Ebay bidder (more likely).

I think that it's safe to ignore it.

I know its a fake. I checked it out with Nissan today in Brisbane. They know the manuals are floating round cyber space. They said its an internal leak and theres nothing they can do about it if its being distributed on the net. They said those responcible for this leak will be fired and charged for illegal distribution of company infomation.

gees...$36.00! I could've mailed you a CD!!! for P and H only!!

I think nissan japan would be more concerned about the rampant spread of the jap manuals on Yahoo Japan... I got a set from japan, waaaay more detailed than the half arsed english translations.

Why wouldn't you be giving out copies to help fellow members?

You're already in violation of copyright law :)

and on that basis......I should retract what I may have implied about a manual being given out to people.

Love to help, but just by owning an R33 I've been made to feel as if I'm breaking the law, (by police), let alone actually breaking it!! Sorry to those who PM'd me.

    • Just trying to get my head around this. At 5psi of boost, you turn on your wmi pump, and then you're using a 3000cc injector, to allow flow upto the actual engine, where you have your 6x200cc injectors and a 500cc injector. If the above is correct, what advantage are you obtaining by having the 3000cc injector blocking flow, is this just incase a line breaks between that injector and the motor you can stop flow immediately? Or are the 6x200cc and 500cc less injectors and just spray nozzle?
    • Welcome! New member myself, but I had an R33 back in 2002. Best advice I could give, based on my experience: if you're running the factory turbo, be very conservative with boost. I made the mistake of just fiddling around with the boost controller and cranking the boost for fun, and the end result was my intake pipes popping off frequently from the constant deluge of oil that was being blown into the recirc by the stressed-out turbo, which itself was siphoning oil from the engine and farting it out both sides of its centre bearing (or something to that effect). If I could do it all again, I would have gotten a new turbo and had a tune dialled in professionally and then just left it alone! Funny you mention the metal shavings in the gearbox, as I had the same thing - the probe plug (magnetic drain plug, essentially) would come out caked with shavings. At least it was doing its job. Not sure if that's just sacrificial wear and part of the deal, or if my gearbox was shagged, but I wasn't abusing it. Enjoy the R33 - they're a dying breed, and if they weren't $35k+ on CarSales in Queensland, I might have picked up one of those again, instead of the 370GT I own now (though I'm loving the 370GT, that big 3.7L V6 just hits different).
    • Howdy folks. I owned an R33 back in 2002, which was thoroughly beyond my capacity (financially speaking) to maintain/insure, so we parted ways in 2004. Fast forward 21 years (to literally yesterday, in fact) and I'm now the proud owner of a 2007 V36 370GT. I'm happily surprised by how much power the VQ37VHR makes, compared to the RB25DET, considering the latter is turbocharged. I had planned to add a turbo at some point but I'm on the fence about whether I'll even need it (though I do love the sudden onset of extra torque). Any other 370GT owners around the traps, I'd love to hear about your experiences with this car (good and bad).
    • Perhaps the answer is... more jacks!* *proper jacks must be used.
    • I NEVER think about using a scissor jack unless there is absolutely no other alternative. f**king things are dangerous, annoying and stupid.
