Now that we've figured the push/pull, what clutch do you use with an R33 GTR box and an RB25DET? do we use a GTR clutch or a GTST clutch, or do they both fit?

Also on a happier note, my gearbox will be here in 4 weeks!!! time to get stuff organised!

If you have a R33 GTR gearbox then you will need to use a PULL type GTR clutch, as RB25det clutches are push type in R33 GTST, not sure about R34 GTT

It does not matter what engine you have, series 1 R33 or Series 2 Neo or Rb26, it does matter what GTR box you have. (hope that makes sense)

  • 3 weeks later...
Well i got my Master and Slave cylinder fresh from Nissan today, getting one step closer now. my gearbox is due to arrive in melbourne end of next week.

Did you end getting the GTR vac type or 34GTT type master cylinder

I got the R33 type master, as i'll be using an R33 clutch pedal with a little modification to fit. i spoke with my mechanic, he said there's no trouble matching the R33 GTR slave to the R33 GTST master, and he think he can mod the clutch pedal to fit.

all i'm waiting on now is my gearbox arriving then it's all stations go. i'll let everyone know how it goes, any problems i get and so on.

Has anyone got any pictures of how they secured thier handbrake foot to the floorpan? Mine did have 6-7 welds, but the metal is really thin and the some of the welds didnt go through both pieces of metal, so now it has become dislodged. I have one screw just holding it there, but would like to know if I have to get it re-welded or will 10-15 tekscrews be fine/safe to hold it there? Also will they hit anything underneath the floorpan there, like gearbox.....?

Out on the turps mucking around with a mate, nothing serious though.

the console looks good, will be better once it's in my car though. thanks heaps. just waiting on the all important gearbox now before i start getting ready for not having a car for a few weeks

Shit happens ay :w00t: i can't wait to get things rolling aswell, just a couple of things to go, clutch and a few bits and pieces. Yeah then the problem of finding time, and most likely having to do without the car.

Has your gearbox arrived yet from Slidewize?

I received a email about my GTR front bar has arrived and have paided for the shipping to Brisbane

Should get it by the end of this week.

I have found a late R32 gtr box (push type) for $750 thru a importer in Brisbane, just deciding whether to get it now or later for the conversion.

nope, no gearbox yet. i need to get it here so i can find out what type it is, as i've been told there's a push and pull type gtr gearbox for R33...

no rush anywho, i need this cast off before i can use it

    • Ah! I actually managed to snag a lightly used set.... that aren't so suitable for me right now. They don't work on a GTT without some cutting or creative heat moulding. I thought about reselling them myself cause I didn't want to murder them, but it looks like I'm probably going to attempt to murder them/melt them because I may as well. @GTSBoy @PranK can somebody close this thread?
    • Hey mate,  I have a set, one is slightly damaged but wont be noticable once installed.  Shoot me a message if your still after them
    • I couldn't wait But, the black constant tension hose clamps were too thick and there wasn't enough clearance at the T/B and I couldn't get it to seat properly, so I had use a silver one there I also added some 3" silicone over the alloy bit that goes through to hole on the radiator support as it looked like it was sitting on the edge of the hole in the radiator support, I never noticed a rattle or anything, but there was a witness mark It is basicly done, and I can live with the silver hose clamp at the T/B, I will get a black clamp for the head vent though where it is attached to the bulkhead fitting  It never stops...LOL, only issue now with the shock tower brace is it slightly touches the under bonnet liner now, if I leave it it will either wear some paint off the brace where it touches, or damage the liner, so I removed the liner to see what I have to work with, with the liner removed I have about 20mm of clearance, but sadly the middle part of the underside of the bonnet is only dusted with paint and looks crap, so I cannot have that, but.... as I have a roll of Carbuilders premium under bonnet insulation in the garage laying around that is only 5.5mm thick (we were going to use it on the boys Patrol, but he crashed the front of it a few months and it was written off, hence why he now drives my old Honda Accord Euro), I'll use the OEM liner as a template and get the Carbuilders stuff fitted up to cover that dusted paint up
    • You have a knack for photography my friend. It makes the 86 look like a complete bucket. The 34 went with you to Europe and back. It's special. (we all feel the same about our 'shitboxes' that every bystander seems to absolutely love)
