Hey Guys,

We've all got old imports with peeling paint on our wiper arms.. What is the cleanest way to get them back to that original, new black looking colour?

I've seen many guys who have resprayed their wipers black with spray cans but it just doesnt look good enough.

How much would a set of replacement front and rear wiper arms+blades cost for my r32 gtr? should I call nissan? is there new aftermarket arms I can buy.. What have you done to get around this?

Or maybe I should just strip it back for that aluminium look.. hmmm... :)

They don't sell the whole arm though.. just the end piece in rice.

You can get a good job, but I've found that for some reason the paint doesn't come very smooth on the wipers (no matter how much you sand). They're always a tiny bit "grainy".

I've done it on both my current cars, done it on my last car, and still got a few to go on the front too.. sick of the ****ing things!! :P :ghost:

  • 1 month later...

mine are faded. i bought some primer and matt black spray. i wanted to take all the paint off before i sprayed, except it proved to be harder than i thought. many little corners.

use as little paint as possible while covering all the primer, so it doesn't crack.

i painted mine also:

- i took them off, this only takes 2 minutes. there is a bolt (about 14mm) that hold sthe end down. take that bolt off. then you need to press down at the closest join which is a spring-loaded bend.that allows you to slide the wiper arm off with ease!

- then i took off the wiper blade just leaving the metal

- next, i took out a wire brush and removed as much crap as i could

- then i gave it a coat of 'etch primer'

- then i gave it a sand

- next i got some string and tied the string to the end that the bolt went through and hung them from the roof of my garage. the garage was empty and large

- next, i got a can of touch-up paint (same colour as my car - dark blue) and over the period of about 3 hours i gave it 5 or so coats of paint

- i let them dry overnight

- then i bought new wiper blades in 'silicone blue' and chucked them on

came up awesome and 6 months later no sign of fading! even in the queensland sun!

cheers,

Warren.

    • Yep, the closest base tune available was for the GTT, I went with that and made all the logical changes I could find to convert it to Naturally Aspirated. It will rev fine in Neutral to redline but it will be cutting nearly 50% fuel the whole way.  If I let it tune the fuel map to start with that much less fuel it wont run right and has a hard time applying corrections.  These 50% cuts are with a fuel map already about half of what the GTT tune had.  I was having a whole lot of bogging when applying any throttle but seem to have fixed that for no load situations with very aggressive transient throttle settings. I made the corrections to my injectors with data I found for them online, FBCJC100 flowing 306cc.  I'll have to look to see if I can find the Cam section. I have the Bosch 4.9 from Haltech. My manifold pressure when watching it live is always in -5.9 psi/inHg
    • Hi My Tokico BM50 Brake master cylinder has a leak from the hole between the two outlets (M10x1) for brake pipes, I have attached a photo. Can anyone tell me what that hole is and what has failed to allow brake fluid to escape from it, I have looked on line and asked questions on UK forums but can not find the answer, if anyone can enlighten me I would be most grateful.
    • It will be a software setting. I don't believe many on here ever used AEM. And they're now a discontinued product, that's really hard to find any easy answers on. If it were Link or Haltech, someone would be able to just send you a ECU file though.
    • Yes sir am asking is there possible way from aem tuner from wiring pins
    • Have you checked cam to crank timing and confirmed balancer marks are correct?
