as i have never heard 1 (may have as i dont kno what they sound like to tell) if any1 in the kno can describe it would help me decide on weather 2 get 1.

will i loose/gain any power?

how much will 1 set me back?

im interested on hearing 1 on a 33 so if ne1 in tha goldcoast area with 1 wants 2 take me 4 a spin 2 help me decide we can organise 2 meet up, ill give u some petrol money.

Screamer pipe is a basically a pipe that outlets your wastegate to the atmo instead of plumbing it back to the exhaust..like an ato bov would. They sound incredible, especially under acceleration..it 'screams,' hence the name.

If you have a stock turbo Gamatron I wouldn't bother. With a big turbo they are awesome!

well a pipe is welded to your manifold, then a external wastegate is bolted onto it, then from your wastegate comes a small pipe approx 10-15cm long, when your turbo spools up excess boost is bypassed through the waste gate, screaming its head off as the boost is dumped into the atmosphere ( usualy aftermarket turbo is necissary but doesnt have to be)

yeah, i've heard a screamer on a stock turb - SR20

and its bloody aweful the sound it makes. I sounds like it had more of a bad exhaust leak than anything else

My screamer with the GT30 sounds wicked though with the 45mm gate.

You can hear it blocks away and sounds really angry.

if you want quiet just easy on the left foot i reckon.

why would you be giving it around police anyway? unless you want to get pulled over

Does sound rather nice and mean though :D can get really loud though

As for gaining/losing power. I don't think it would gain or lose, as it is really just to control boost levels

you dnt have to be giving it next to police for them to hear it, as you know they are LOUD

pretty sure there are some videos on antilag of a few cars with screamer pipes ...r31 with neo , a r32 gtst at drags, a white r33 and a green s14 on cruise mode .. from memory ..coz R31power forwarded me some links of em.

Matt

Yeah Im considering getting a split dump pipe (like the ones CES and BATMBL sell) for my r32 gtst, and getting a removeable section added to the wastegate pipe.

Has anyone ever done something like this? It means i can have a screamer when i want, and then change it back for when i want to be a little bit more discrete...

From the vids above it should sound pretty good.

    • There's restrictor pills in the stock boost control hoses. That's how they set the amount that was bled off and hence the "high" boost setting. The usual mod in the day was to remove it and send the "high" boost setting up to about 14 psi.
    • Thanks Duncan, that's the best info I've read. Furthermore after learning about the PCM programming side controlling the factory boost solenoid, the purpose of the solenoid is to "bleed" boost when pin 25 is earthed, thus allowing spring pressure in the wastegate actuator to overcome diaphragm boost pressure, thus closing or reducing the position of the wastegate flap creating more boost as the turbo is able to spin faster. It's pretty cool to see a designated Pill to do exactly this, would have liked to have seen it with a tiny filter over the end for those moments in vacuum.  The constant bleed pill has now been removed completely from the system and solenoid boost control has been restored once again.   Case closed 😂
    • The wideband reading is meaningless if it's not running. Why are you using shitty old sidefeeds on any engine, let alone a Neo? What manifold and fuel rail are you using to achieve that? Beyond that, can't help you with AEM stuff as I've never been their ECU/CAS combo.
    • Manual boost controllers (where a little of the boost was bled off) were quite common back in the day, because they were cheap and easy. Generally they had a manual adjustment screw rather than being fixed like yours. Down side is they always bleed boost, not just when you want them to so an electronic boost controller that uses a solenoid will have less lag.
    • Hello , im new here and i have A31 home build  RB25det neo stock eng / turbo  aem ems 2 blue connector  aem 3.5 map aem cas disk aem wideband connected to ecu  355 lph pump 550 nismo yellow injectors side feed aftermarket regulator  and won’t start with base aem tuner basic tune eventually flipped cas 180 degree so it triggers on correct stroke not in exhaust cycle  Now it won’t start Wideband reads 10 and 11 at lowest fuel setting  and will share calibrations soon for aem tuner i think something is wrong in aem tuner    please if you have any information, am very grateful
