First time in a skyline was 3 days ago when my '89 GTS-T 4 door arrived! Only driven it a couple of times as it is still unregistered (imported it myself). Mods are HKS exhaust, Pod filter and coil overs. Only other turbo car I've driven was a (rather tired) 180sx. Compared to the 180sx, the skyline was slower to come on boost, but boosted much harder, and held the torque until much higher in the rev band. Where the 180 was running out of puff at about 6500, the skyline kept pulling to well over 7000. The 180 was pretty neglected by its owner though, so perhaps not the best comparison to make.

Compared to my previous car, a 95 Hyundai Lantra automatic, the skyline feels REDICULOUSLY fast. Cant help but laugh when you plant your foot.

Cant wait for registration!!!

The first turbo skyline I went in was an R31 Executive sedan (aussie spec) with an RB30ET and R32 manual gearbox. It had a pod and ag-pipe for "cold air induction" and 3" exhaust. The car was running extremely rich but was overwhelmingly fast. I loved the turbo spool and acceleration. The ability for it to haul arse to 180 with 5 ppl in the car is what impressed me. The video of it is here: http://r31skylineclub.com/content/download...aving-badly.avi

ok. never driven one. Signed up with J-Spec for a R34 GT-T, didn't think i could go too wrong..

Anyways, 6 months later, picked her up from Sydney on Labour day. Flew up on a 6:15 Virgin flight and drove back the same day to Melbourne. Got back 10:30pm.

The car was f*cking sensational!!! My current car is a '91 pulsar hatch with 57kw's... so my first taste of boost was nuts!, loved it :) - Took her for a sneaky drive today (no compliance plate yet, no rego) and she's just awesome to drive, sits nice and flat and can't get enough of the boost! :(

I'm with you Rizza, can't wait for the rego! Just dying to go cruising with my mates...

R34's f*cking rock!

EDIT: oh right... mods. Stock as a rock. Manual.

  • 6 months later...

My 1st time in a skyline was PHUMANs skyline in adelaide.

Took me to my yr 10& 12 formal. Shit all over the limos hahaha!

So bk in yr 10 social, he picked me up, no bg deal.

Then he gunned it... well i thought he did. my whole body just flew bk in the seats da g-force was crazy i loved it wif the unique skyline sound from the engine bay. he was only running stock boost! i nearly wet my self. I said to him we dun have to be early da skool social so we whent for a 30min cruse! hahaha PHAT !

gotta get him to gimme a ride soon wif the new power his making!

Sideways at about 130km facing a tirewall.

Yep I hadn't been in many turbo cars at all. I was a the Morwell hillclimb track and my mate took me for a straight out flying lap sideways and smoking.

I loved it. Heres a pic

I just got myself an R32 GTSt 4 door, I too can't wait for rego.

Wal

Well walked into the local import dealer and saw this nice 40th anniversary R33 sitting right at the front of the yard.

Only arrived the day before... took it for a test drive not knowing what to expect. Had a smile the whole time. Bought it the next day :D Love the boost and gotta love the all wheel steering!

post-23999-1129197928.jpg

it's funny how everyone mentions how they were smiling when they bought their first Skyline. I was exactly the same a couple months ago.

I drove in my R34, the first Skyline I've been in, and just loved it. They interior is awesome, it flies... what else do you need? :D coming from a Ford Telstar it was hardly as though it woulda been worse than that :D

first was in a 180, felt fast as hell. but that was sorta the first car some has gunned it. next was a mates r33 sII, stock as. not to bad but didnt feel as quick. then was mates r32 gts-t. stock with 1 bar boost. almost broke my neck!! haha, now im making a choice that will suit me... r33 sII, r32 GTR or supra NA ( i love supra's and thinking about NA and waiting for a TT conversion but dont know if i can wait that long.)

hey all, new user here, first drive was last week, stock r32 gtr. i learned to drive in an oldschool GT falcon, and the skyline was so refined and quiet, and just so effortless compared to it.

Where the falcon would light up the rears, and try to kill you from about 1500 rpm exiting a corner, the skyline would rev to about 4k before it started getting scary, and just take off towards the horizon.

Loved it. I'm now gonna buy one within the next few months.

Hmm my first time was in an R32 GTS-t Type-M that my mate had just picked up. the car had only been here from japan for about 2 months back in 2000. it had been mildly modded with just the 5Zigen exhaust and KYB Suspension.

I'd never thought 5 years later I'd actually end up owning that very same car. ^_^

i was in a four door R32 GTS-T with apexi exhaust system cat back, pod filter, chip, intercooler where the only add ons...........

i luvd the boost straight away :D

like i knew they where awesome machines but once u get in one u just want to have it.

We where doin bout 240 on the highway and the thing did not shake rattle rumble nor did the steering wheel shake..........WOW...

after that i decided im getting one!

My first ride in a Skyline was when my importer showed me "the potential" of one of these cars... after the introduction, I fell in love and immediately started to talk about my 34 :)

6 months later, my baby came to Australia :D Shit, sounds like I gave birth or something~

my frist time in an r33 gtst was about a year ago, when i test drove a few and was looking at buying one.

I picked one, drove it, loved it. Had a turbo car before it, and a v8, the skyline isnt the fastest car ive driven, but its the best car ive driven, and being stock, well simple exhaust and boost will fix that :D

Just drives so excelently, hangs on the road and ya just get looks everywhere, ahah ITS MINE !!!

1st time in a skyline was when I test drove one. It was n/a r33, the car felt very slow and unexciting. But then I test drove a stock 33 turbs and I was hooked which eventually lead me to buy it. I was obsessed with stepping on the throttle and feeling the boost kick in. Now thanks to SAU =P I cant stop thinking about mods.

Only other turbo car I've driven was a (rather tired) 180sx.  Compared to the 180sx, the skyline was slower to come on boost, but boosted much harder, and held the torque until much higher in the rev band.  Where the 180 was running out of puff at about 6500, the skyline kept pulling to well over 7000.

you havent driven a well maintained and midly modified 180sx then.

    • I would just put EBC back on the "I would not use their stuff" pile and move on.
    • Can I suggest you try EBC directly again and link them to as many competitor catalogues as you can to show their listing is incorrect, eg https://dba.com.au/product/front-4000-series-hd-brake-rotor-dba42304/ If you have access to an R33 GTST VIN and your VIN, you could also use a Nissan Parts lookup like Amayama to show them the part number is different between 33 GTST and 34 GTT which may get their attention
    • So i got reply from EBC and they just this site where you can clearly see those 296mm fronts on R34 GTT. I send them photos and "quotes" that 296mm are not for 34 GTT and they are too small. But it will be very hard to return them cuz nobody here knows 100% and they just copy those EBC catalogue :-D https://ebcbrakesdirect.com/automotive/nissan/skyline-r34
    • Hi, is the HKS  Tower Bar still available ? negotiable ? 🤔
    • From there, it is really just test and assemble. Plug the adapter cables from the unit into the back of the screen, then the other side to the car harness. Don't forget all the other plugs too! Run the cables behind the unit and screw it back into place (4 screws) and you should now have 3 cables to run from the top screen to the android unit. I ran them along the DS of the other AV units in the gap between their backets and the console, and used some corrugated tubing on the sharp edges of the bracket so the wires were safe. Plug the centre console and lower screen in temporarily and turn the car to ACC, the AV should fire up as normal. Hold the back button for 3 sec and Android should appear on the top screen. You need to set the input to Aux for audio (more on that later). I put the unit under the AC duct in the centre console, with the wifi antenna on top of the AC duct near the shifter, the bluetooth antenna on the AC duct under the centre console The GPS unit on top of the DS to AC duct; they all seem to work OK there are are out of the way. Neat cable routing is a pain. For the drive recorder I mounted it near the rear view mirror and run the cable in the headlining, across the a pillar and then down the inside of the a pillar seal to the DS lower dash. From there it goes across and to one USB input for the unit. The second USB input is attached to the ECUtec OBD dongle and the 3rd goes to the USB bulkhead connected I added in the centre console. This is how the centre console looks "tidied" up Note I didn't install the provided speaker, didn't use the 2.5mm IPod in line or the piggyback loom for the Ipod or change any DIP switches; they seem to only be required if you need to use the Ipod input rather than the AUX input. That's it, install done, I'll follow up with a separate post on how the unit works, but in summary it retains all factory functions and inputs (so I still use my phone to the car for calls), reverse still works like factory etc.
