All rebuilt...runnin in...finally get a few k's on er and give it a bit.

Doesn't really splutter, more of a hesitation

Feels like it wants to go, but mellow's out.

Goin at 0.6 bar steady..so I don't think its leaking.

I have a nisdat..timings ok, oxygen and af sensors seem fine.

It doesn't seem to retard as though the knock sensors are kicking in.

New battery, newly flowed infectors, new plugs...like I said it doesn't splutter like a lack of fuel or spark.

At a guess its electrical...any thoughts

Mine feels exactly the same.. Basically no notisable problems just no power..

Id get it on the dyno and see how much power shes putting down and check the af's.. PM me if you find the problem .. :spank:

yeah about 600..but I still would have thought as revs pickup power would too.

Another strange thing...my boost controller doesn't work now...but electrically does.

Something is cutting, I'm sure of it..fuel,boost??

Weekend will reveal I hope. Got a new fuel pump happenin and another gtr to swap stuff.

If I'm game, i'll free boost it in 3rd and take my foot off as soon as it goes over 0.7 as it only does 0.6 now.

sounds like boost leak or boost control issue, are all inlet hose fitted correctly??

very easy to miss a hose!! i have recently fitted a brand new engine to gtr and

tight will very little effect on boost achievable.

i also doubt fuel is issue.

it really does sound like leak or control issue, maybe turbo actuators partially open.

also check that you blo off valves are not leaking.

cheers russell

Has the engine been run in properly?

I wouldn't be reving upto 6k inless you have done atleast 1,000k's.... Before then you should be reving to 3k.

Lots and lots and lots of theorys on how to run an engine in...

But yeah, Id say how all your little hoses are hooked up, just if stuff was working before, and isnt now, its more than likey going to be something small that would be easy missed. Such as forgetting to put a piston in, thats big stuff, it just wouldnt happen. Putting a little hose on the wrong nipple, thats easy as to miss.

thats a myth

My car, bedded in on the dyno, and been runnning 16psi ever since, 7800rpm limiter no probs

nearly 6000km's and i have no problems. car runs fine, makes the same power as it did from day one.

Didn't you have a turbo problem

    • You just need a different blue slip shop (preferably one you regularly use as a mechanic), and make sure the coil overs are as close as possible to standard height
    • yeah the sugar refining companies were pushing for the same in Oz originally, all fuels were going to have 10% ethanol to make them "cheaper" (noting, that the loss in l/100 might be greater than the decrease in price). I guess they won that fight in Canadia
    • GTSboy, thank you again. i’ve been reading all the other SAU RB25 vacuum line threads and you have the utmost patience for people asking “where do my vacuum lines go”. it’s appreciated. i did also enlist a few other RB guys local to me.  i would like to run 5 to 4. turbo pressure side to wastegate actuator. i would like to run 3 to 1. power steering air valve line to intercooler outlet. (this is how it was previously). i was told 2 is the bleed port for the boost solenoid - which i’m not running - so should be capped.   anyone see any problems with that?
    • So yes. All of them. Something like 98% of all fuel in the USA has 10% ethanol: https://afdc.energy.gov/fuels/ethanol-fuel-basics It's labelled as like, AKI, 87, 91, 93 with an E10 or E5 or E15 label on the pump. At a certain point, it's not just "E10" instead of 91. It is 91, 95, 98, and all of them have 10% Ethanol in them. You can also get E85 and E30 which is why you do see some people rolling around with E30 tunes in them.
    • Thanks for the response. This is an 04 EP3 Type R. JDM spec. Fairly certain they're just basic BC racing coils. I do plan to keep as the ride quality on stock I've been told is pretty meh given Sydney roads. If I were to go down that avenue, does NSW require them to be a certain spec (close to original) etc?
