Dr. Mario Theissen, BMW Motorsport Director: "After the difficult weekend we had in Magny-Cours, today's sessions were dominated by an intensive set-up programme. No doubt we could have benefited from a test between these two Grands Prix. Now the challenge will be to improve the set-up for Saturday with the data we have collected today. There were no problems on the engine side."

That dirty Kraut is still passing the buck onto Williams. Either their engines are that good and going to wate in the Williams or they suck and he is in damage control with McLaren, Renault and Toyota all handing it to the Williams BMWs:(

Well I understand why he's running a PR campaign.....but I don't buy it. As our drag racing friends know terminal speed is the best indication of power....and a standing start is an indicator of torque....and Williams/BMW suck at both

LOL...so much for German engineering...BMW and Mercedes are hurting their respective teams...lol Jpa crap and those frog powered cars are cleaning up:)

I so love the British GP, but looks like its going to be a long night for the Williasms boys, just hope DC beats them and JV beats Massa and gets some points.:P

That's what I can't understand. Very rare you see Merc's and Bimmers break down on the roads, yet they can't make their F1 motors as reliable.

*Sigh* I hope I don't have to wait for 06 for another Maccas' F1 crown. :P

Read a few UK motoring mags. The past 12 months there have been a few articles concerning the build quality and relaibility of Mercs, and how if they dont improve the next model then they are likely to lose even more business then they already have:(

Anyway, 10.30 time to seitch from SBS to Channel 10:)

Typical big brother that crap ran late again.

While I am being pissed off, how bad are the new CGI track demos? They spend all this time showing reflections, hands on steering wheel, wierd angles. Shame they don't actually show you what the track looks like :P

Yeh a ****pit view of a lap with a small window following the car from the outsidfe is the go:)

Wasnt too bad a race. From 10-14 was where the racing was outside of the in and out laps of pitstops.

Best performance of the night goes to Stuart O'Grady, 4th on a stage with a Category 1 climb:thumbsup:

Oh well, looks like Williams, Red Bull etcc etc are going ot have a shocker for the rest of the year with a lot of the effort havign to go into next years cars:(

The Williams/BMW relation is all but over. I hope Williams get some manufactuer backing them soon cause customer engines aren't the same as manufactuer backing.

Mercedes better get their act together for the next meet. They've given Alonso too many presents.

as usual Trulli ruined a few peoples races. how can someone be so good in qualifying yet so shit in the race. he held up MS and kimi something shocking. it was interesting in the first part of the race the gap between cars was 1 second, then trulli 15 seconds (and counting) back from the guy in front and lapping 2 seconds per lap slower. he also did his best to f**k alonsos race when alonso was trying to put a lap on him.

as for williams with a manufacturer, how about a Williams/Nissan? haha. shame they are no longer an independant manufacturer... oh well.

If only :)

No need to let the fact that Renault are majority share holders in Nissan get in the way. I'm sure they could overlook the slight conflict of interest

As for the race, good on JPM for finally getting on the podium and cracking it for a victory this year. It was nice to see him actually keep the car on the island and not throw away a good result for a change. I also thought Alonso raced well, but I was dissapointed for Fisi when he stalled it in the pit lane after his last stop as he drove a great race and probably would have passed Alonso if Renault didn't bring him in first (perhaps team tactics played a part there to ensure Alonso got maximum points). As for Williams, the less said the better - they were pitiful and it looks like the slide is only going to get worse for the rest of the year :P

my bet is that williams will have cosworth power next year. that will be a 60% chance of being shit. the only reason I give them that 40% chance of being good is that cosworth do have a lot of experience building good V8s so hopefully they can come up with something good. i doubt it though.

unfortunately I am starting to lose hope in the williams/webber alliance. can't see any good results on the horizon. :)

It is hard to see how Williams could get worse, they only beat Red Bull, one sauber and the jordans and minardis!!!

They might not even beat Red Bull soon they way they're going. Heidfeld had his mirrors full of RBR for most of the race and he only initially got past Klien because he ran off the road trying to put a pass on Webber :)

German GP this weekend... PLEASE MERCEDES..... No more engine go kaput! :P

Anyhow, for those that are interested, BMW are looking to recruit personel for 2006.

I think I'll apply for head of aerodynamics. I'll send them some samples of my paper aeroplanes and schematics too. I know I'm bound to get a call from Dr. Mario Theissen! :) :uh-huh:

bastard I was going to go for that too. except I dont know how to spell schematic or aerodynamicist. hmmm perhaps i can apply for 'Model Maker' I once built a 1/8th scale gas RC car it has a 2 speed box and ran at nearly 80kmh... also once half built a plastic R32 GTR model. I'm a shoe in.

in other news a friend of mine is going overseas today and whilst travelling around is going to stop by and watch the Spa GP the bastard.

    • What does it look like with highway driving? And yes, I had a similar thought as Duncan. It looks quite similar in my Stagea and I have made myself accept it as normal. Might have to look into it some day
    • While I was waiting for the new parts to come in for the charge pipe and radiator I decided to do some turbo modification. The drive pressure (exhaust backpressure) was a lot higher that I thought it should be. For 32lbs of boost drive was 55lbs. The turbine housing is a 1.10AR and my turbo builder has suggested to go to a 1.25AR. To test if a larger AR would do anything to reduce drive pressure AND not spend any money I decided to hog out the divider in my current housing. I removed it from the inlet and the whole way through the housing.  After reassembly and testing it doesn't look like this modification did anything for reducing drive pressure or requiring more fuel (making more power). Oh well, it was worth a shot. We'll get some data at the track if it makes it past the 60ft. I also machined a $7 shift knob off Amazon to fit my Stillway shifter since I didn't like the Stillway shift knob. Next on the list was the radiator replacement and fabrication of a new intercooler tube that had no silicon coupler. No pictures of this - I was short on time each night after work to get this done and didn't stop to take pictures.  Next was to get the clutch disks out and replaced. Previously when installing the dogbox I had ordered a set of the same sintered iron disks I had been running because I switched to the 26-spline input shaft. I thought it was odd that they didn't have any markings or brand name on them like all my old disks had but installed them anyway. At the track I could not get the clutch to lock up using my normal strategies. After two track nights I reached out to the clutch manufacturer and ask their thoughts. They said they had to switch the material out because they were having trouble getting the original material and that this new material would not take to being slipped very well.  So out with the first set of 26-spline disks and in with the correct material 26-spline disks. While I had the trans out I added an inspection/service hole. I've wanted one of these for a while. Now I can have a look at things and change the front cover shimming when needed (clutch wear). I hustled and got the clutch change done in a few hours on a Saturday. Hopped in the car and drove home. On the way home I did a 1-3 pull. When shifting from 2nd to 3rd the core plug in the back of the cylinder head popped out and dumped all the coolant. Thankfully I was only 30 seconds from home and coasted it there. Datalog showed nothing unusual and 2.5psi of coolant pressure. That plug has been in there since 1992 but I guess it worked its way out. Pulled the trans AGAIN and replaced the plug, JB welded it in, and made a brace. Also deleted the head drain I had added in during the bearing issue fiasco.  I am currently changing my boost control plumbing to make it cleaner. After that is done I'll make another attempt at getting past the 60.
    • Are you 100% sure this isn't tune related?
    • 140-150 across the board. At this point hoping the grounding harness fixes it. My grounds are all tied to the chassis and none to the battery. For SR and KA that’s never been a problem for me but had a few other guys here and Reddit who told me RB really like a very solid ground setup tied to the battery so going to try that next, I’m stumped if that doesn’t do it. Never had a car have spark and fuel and not fire off before. Only thing I can think is the spark is intermittent/weak because of grounds nothing else really makes sense at this point
    • I am having close to the same issue. Can you help me with what wire you grounded to get your pump to trigger?
