mmmm....curbs....the secret to a shorter track :P

But that race opens the question again.....does Webber just not have it?  Pizzonia qualified behind him and finished 10 places ahead......

True, Pizzonia did finish ahead of Webber - but it's not really an ideal comparison as Webber had to pit at the end of the first lap to replace the nose/front wing assembly on his car after hitting DC in turn 1.

I think you'll find that Webber's race pace was a fair bit quicker then Pizzonia's during the race. He caught DC very quickly and put a big gap on him once he got passed. He also caught Sato and pulled away once past him as well. I recall Mr Crompton actually mentioning that Webber's lap times were consistently amongst those of the top 5 when he wasn't in traffic, therefore I think it's safe to assume that he would've finished ahead of Pizza Boy if he had a trouble free run.

That being said, Webber always seems to find himself running into other guys these days...admittedly, not all his fault, but perhaps he needs to revise his driving style a little just to keep himself out of trouble.

Finally a decent result!

I think Webber drove a very good race. 4th is definately a good result considering the conditions and his starting position on the grid. I thought he was reasonably quick in the damp conditions and other than the gamble to go on slicks, he drove a very sensible race.

Importantly, he's also now back ahead of Heidfeld in the championship standings...hopefully he can grab some more points in Brazil :(

Yer nice result considering where he started from, and stopping 4 times. If he didnt gamble that first time on going out with slicks he would have finished 3rd.

True, but if Webber had not stopped for dry tyres at the time he did then he would have finished 6th or 7th. Williams made a good decision there as next lap around he set fastest first sector, then lap after fastest lap of the race, this prompted Rubens and RSCH in to get drys

Well done Webber finially a bit of luck, now all he needs is a win to finish the year.

ok, i'm a bit slow as i just watched the race last night. i must say it was a really interesting race. so good to see people changing 4 tyres in a pit stop. i'm surprised they remember how!!!

yes were it not for the first attempt on slicks webber would have probably finished ahead of button. he finally had some luck and didn't have any failures/incidents which it seems is just about 80% of what's needed for a top 5 finish these days. it was great to see him feeling his way on slicks after a few others had failed (massa etc) and setting such quick times. great move that one.

shame about montaya handing P2 to gonzo. kimi must be p1ssed off.

yeah, i recorded this one of DVD too :) i'm a bit less advanced than you though, i just have a DVD recorder hooked up to my TV, i guess it's just like a modern VCR really. I have no idea how to make clips from them and post up... what can i say i'm noob. i just like being able to set the timer and it burns me nice DVD with chapters etc so i can watch it at leisure. :)

Yup, Dvico Fusion Plus DVB-T PCI HDTV.

Each recording is around 9gb. Remove the adverts and its down to around 6.5gb, use dvdshrink and it fits perfectly on a 4.5gb dvd-r at around 70-75% compression (Sandown I split over 2x DVD-R and no doubt Bathurst 1000 will be about 5 DVD-R's :)) with awesome playback quality.

If Ch 7/10 made full length, full season DVD's available of each race, every round for every year i'd happily purchase them, until they do i'll happily do this :D

    • Hi guys, long time no post as per usual! It's been a busy year so far, the biggest thing being a new job.  After 28 years in the automotive industry I decided it was time for a change.  I was losing faith in the industry and where it's heading.  Now in a completely different industry (electrical) working for a company that manufacture water pump contollers.  Not as sexy as cars but it's an interesting,  challenging industry. I now don't work Saturdays which is a bonus!  It's still 50-55 hours a week but having Saturdays ack after 28 years of working them is awesome!   No news on the GT-R but i did decide to add some more JDM goodness into my life....           1990 300 ZX.  She's not perfect but for a 35 year old car she ain't bad!  Just going to tidy it up a bit and enjoy it.  It's currently auto but will start stockpiling everything for a manual swap. It WILL distract me even further from the GT-R but im hoping not for too long! It somewhat proves a 6'8" freak can fit in a 300 ZX.  Sort of...  I drove it home from the previous owners house in Melbourne via Black Spur and Merton Gap (2 awesome bits of Victorian twisty road) and it was amazing!  Handles so well!!!   I don't think it would be worthy of a full build page but I'll post up some of the upgrades here if anyone is interested?  Cheers guys!
    • End game is to: - Remove all the slop from old worn parts - Adjust setup so that the wheels actually fit and the car is drivable (currently it is not because of the extreme rubbing on the guards).   Progress over the last couple of days, removed the rear hubs! Next steps: - Buy bushings - Replace bushings/bearings on hub - Reinstall
    • Cracked deck  And other cam snap stuff
    • A few random issues have popped up since my last update. My WMI pressure sensor failed within about 10 minutes of it seeing liquid. It was a 20$ China special, so I'm not surprised. My name brand replacement should arrive today.  My power steering assist also decided to crap out last weekend. The usual, works for about 60 seconds after starting the car then I lose it. I dusted off my old copy of NDS and connected to the HICAS ECU. Code 4 for assist solenoid.... I tested the solenoid and it's fine.  I knew the day where my HICAS ecu would crap out would come, and I welcome it. It was the last HICAS part on the car that is now in the bin. I've ordered an SSR and I will control the power steering solenoid with my Haltech ecu. It will be nice to have proper speed referenced assist again after all these years.
