This dash was a bitch to install. I'd do it again though cos I learnt so much just from playing around. I had to take all the needles off so I lost calibration and spent hours trying to get it right again (thx to my friends Tom and INASNT for driving around with me checking my speed).

Anyways here are the pics:

Had to cut the boost guage hole out. I dunno why it didn't come pre-cut...everything else was perfectly cut and shaped.

I got that E.L guage set sitting in my cupboard for the last 3 months. Didn't want to touch the needles on my car, so i've just left it for now.

I'm getting them on soon as I found an auto electrician close to home that does re-calibration, not sure on the cost tho, but should be about $100 i'd say.

I've got them too. I also had them sitting in my room for about 3 months. I have to say though, as good as they are, the novelty does wear off after a bit. I still love the look so I'm not saying don't buy them or anything.

BTW nice install job Grim. I took the expensive and easy option and had them installed :)

EDIT:

I forgot to ask my question.

Grim, when you said you had to cut the hole for the boost gauge, do you mean you cut through the clear section or your one was solid all the way across and you cut through the glowy stuff?

I left the clear section in, which makes the stock boost gauge all blurry. I wanted to cut it out, but I thought I'd wreck something if I did.

Does look nice indeed. Would go well with a nice EL series boost gauge or something.

Personally though I prefer the Nismo white backed gauges. They look really rice with the Nismo logo glowing in flourescent green on them :)

tho uniqueautosports has one for the gtr, i don't know for sure if i want it over the nismo ones that i am thinking of getting... but for now, i just need some cash to pay off my $2000 worth of speeding fines...

I cut the blurry part of the tacho section so that the boost guage was clear.

The install was quite difficult only because it involved taking the needles off. It is not so difficult that you can't do it yourself (if I can do it anyone can!) but you need to be _VERY_ careful when taking the needles off. The needles are connected to a central rod that goes down into the main mechanics of the tacho/speedo. If you try and just pull the needle off you might pull out the rod and damage the internals (as I did). All I damaged was a coiled spring that controls the speedo but I was able to fix that.

Before removing the needles, move them all to their lowest point as shown here:

That gives you the calibration point. (My speedo needle is wrong in that photo. It should point to the centre of the black part of the fuel level needle.) When putting the needles back on make sure they look like this (above).

I 'fine-tuned' the calibration of the speedo with a mate, a second car and 2 mobile phones and a LOT of asking, "What speed are you doing now?" (if you get my drift)

Hope this rant helps someone...

      In the US people definitely take photos. It's a lot of attention. I personally don't care but I drive pretty cautiously.

      Hi guys. Title … Bought new genuine hazard switch and new genuine flasher relay, indicators now work but hazards still not working. Hazard fuse all good tested with a multimeter.  Tested hazard wiring, I’m a div forgot to test with button actually pressed in, nevertheless, here’s what I measured with hazard button disengaged… 1st wire - red - 0v 2nd wire - green/red -12v 3rd wire - white/green - 12v 4th wire - blue/red - 0v 5th wire - black - 0v 6th wire - white - 0v 7th wire -  green/black - 0v 8th wire - blue/white 5.95v Does this look okay? - can anyone confirm if the hazard has its own relay , separate from the indicator relay ? Apparently r33 has two relays ?   Racking my brain trying to figure it out 😭

      New alignment and matching tires is great and f*ck me are the German roads fast. Took another trip to the Nurburgring yesterday with my buddy and the car feels great in the dry - a lot of mechanical grip. In corners at 140-160kph I felt like I could keep going.

      Has anyone else been swarmed by morons with cell phones taking pictures of their car? A few of you may know, I recently moved from Japan to Europe and brought my R34 with me. Since arriving I've driven the car a handful of times and without fail have had people filming/taking photos of me with the car to a point where it's becoming annoying and a bit hazardous. Yesterday, whilst driving with my buddy (R32 GTR) on the highway, I spotted three cars pulling alongside with some twat hanging out the window recording with his phone. This one VW Golf came alongside in the passing lane and held position preventing me from being able to pull out and pass slower traffic in my lane so I gestured to him to F*ck off.  It seems when people have approached me, in the car park, at work (drove there once - mistake), gas station etc. they ask the same questions: "why doesn't it have a wing?" and "how much power does it have?"; the latter has been met with pure disappointment when I told the kid it's stock. Of course, Japan was a totally different story, the people are a lot more subtle and have never bothered me about my car or have been polite in doing so. Has it always been like this in Western countries, and what are your experiences? I just don't recall this ever, or maybe I didn't have a nice enough car back when I was growing up in the UK. I've taken the R34 out a total of six times since it landed and besides going to the Nurburgring area it's becoming more of a pain than anything.

      I had a similar situation with my R32 GTS4. I replaced that solenoid, but it hasn't solved the problem. So its possible the pump is failing. It seems you need to drop the diff in order to do anything that might fix this. So its important to know exactly what the problem is. Or just replace / repair everything while the diff is out.
