Hi Guys,

I believe I have caught up with everyone's emails.

One of you guys mentioned on the last page that boost was dropping off at top end.. If you experience this then it is unlikely to be the controller but something else. Evidence of it being something else builds when you try one or two controllers which give a problem and then the turbotech as well. Although different controllers might 'seem' to present a diffent problem, it is more likely that different controllers exaserbate 'your' cars's problem differently. Maybe leaky or tired turbo, loose clamps, brittle or cracked hoses etc...

Well, i better go make some more controllers for all the SAU orders that have come in the last two days...

Cheers

Mark

The turbotech boost controller definitely tails off with my rb20det turbo.

HOWEVER, the rb20det turbo in its tailing off state (12 down to 9) is making 176rwkw. The turbo has reached its power limit. I can adjust my actuator all the way out and the stock turbo will make 1bar+ in the mid range but as soon as peak power approaches boost will ALWAYS tail off to 9psi no matter what.

Prior, the rb20det and the same stock rb20det turbo was able to hold 1bar using the adjustable actuator, yet only made 165rwkw.

I didn't have the turbotech at this time to test unfortunately.

There is nothing I can do to get this rb20det turbo on the rb30det to hold boost.

A friend put it on his VLT, it too dropped boost to ~11psi or so.

He ended up breaking his stock actuator fiddling, replaced it with an aftermarket adjustable item. It now holds boost much better but STILL tails off. He suspects its his 2.5" exhaust.

2.5" is too small. I run a 3" with a crappy dump pipe courtesy of a so called 'Performance Specialist' *see advert*.

I think the only way to go is 3.5" or 2 x 2.5".

The bloke with the VLT did say it was better than his GFB bleeder.

My turbosmart and the one I got of Mark dropped off. I have read the discussion on this and have blocked off the tubes that run to the factory solenoid. This will fix the boost dropping back to 10 psi

The rb30det is in an R32 so the boost control method in those is basic. They simply run a line from the comp cover to the actuator, you place the boost controller in the middle.

My problem is the turbo is too small for the motor, it makes its peak power at 4400rpm! :P

I'm bolting a cheap Vg30 on now to keep me happy until I bolt the xr6 turbo on around xmas.

To all of those still waiting i have just recieved mine today and will be fitting it this arvo or tomorrow. Will add pictures once installed so people can see how i installed it to my R33. Hope it is as good as it sounds.

I got my boost controller on friday, installed it today, didnt touch anything on the controller at all. Reaches 9.5 - 10psi (too busy watching road just in case) and drops back down to 7psi :s

ill get a couple of pictures one of the controller installed, and the other is the line that the boost guage feeds off. The car only has a catback exhaust (hence why i just put it on and didnt adjust it)

Checked everything and even set up the controller so it was up the right way to make sure that the spring and ball bearing weren't getting caught up anywhere and still no difference.

I get 1.2 bar whether the controller screw is barely even wound in, being heldin place by the locking nut, or if I wind it in a bit too.

Hoses are all connected properly and doesn't appear to be any leaks.  I'm at a loss now, a few people have looked at it and my installation seems fine.

I'm still trying to track down a bleed valve to see if it works correctly with my install. I've emailed Mark for advice on whether or not it might be a faulty unit and have heard nothing from him. Does anyone have a number for him or anything? I just want to get this sorted out.

LOL

These valves work completely opposite to conventional bleed valves.. Fully wound in is ZERO!!!

with the hose coming off the boost controller to the left, did you take the little metal restrictor thingy out of it (or replace the hose) ?? I had the same problem with my first boost controller cause of that.

I went through some posts before this and found someone mentioning that, took out the little restrictor peice, havent been able to test it myself though because my gf was driving the line around last nite.

Hey all this sounds very good for the price :D

Im just wondering if overtime the spring can become weaker and affect your boost?

Whats the biggest spike any of u have gotten from this?

And so it does remove the lo boost hi boost thing so u get full boost were u would normally get lo? (as in a r34 and r33 i think)

tnx for any help :(

mark's service is fantastic. paid for it friday arvo received it today, considering it was a long weekend im impressed. havent tested it out yet but will let you fella's know (going on a sr20). recommended seller

    • Dredgggggeeee time; I have recently finally started driving the car. It sat for so long that the fuel tank gave birth to rust sludge and blocked my lift pump sock and one of my walbro 460's and left grime, rust chunks and muck all through the surge tank and system. I decided to commit and pull the trigger on an oem r32 gtr fuel tank and Frenchys twin 460 / sender / surge tank hanger combo and all new larger lines and fittings etc, also boost doc heater hose kit / new heater core and a heap of other bits and shits like wideband sensor installed in the dump and Syltech iacv + lines and all wired and added to current tune. now having lightly driven it a couple times without issue, I can happily report on the hta3076 in its current tune. still no boost control switched on, 20psi gate springs, car makes 22psi at 3200rpm in 6th gear with 30-50% TPS from cruise at 100kmh. Going by the old graph, this means it should be making 300-325whp at the same numbers above. Very very responsive setup under true road driving loads. all that's left for the build is body loom + PDM, finish the remote aircon setup, install carbon fibre parts and go for full tune and 30psi. the 315 rear tyres are now performing like they're 195's, wheel spin in any gear at almost any rpm, whereas my previous setup hooked up in 3rd no issue, albeit Nt01's back then / RB25 5spd vs (new) old date r888r's Z34 6spd now, + obviously all the support upgrades I listed in the quoted post above. car sits at 1-3psi on cruise at 100kmh, expectations totally exceeded and I'm beyond stoked with all this so far. • I've also been eyeing their rear axles for my car. I purchased seat mounts from them about 7 years ago and they were hot garbage so I've been a little wary about purchasing them. With that being said, please buy them and get back to us haha.
    • Can a moderator please move this into the right category.. I've accidently put this into racing build thread 🤦🏽‍♂️
    • Being a manual, we very quickly ordered new R34 gearbox (From Nissan) and remaining parts from Kudos motorsports. Would highly recommend the team there. Ultra helpful and quick to share advice and upgrades. We are in the middle of taking the Auto out (Genuine 94,000/kms) and putting the Manual in this weekend. Part 2 of the build will include likely a Plazaman Intercooler and Plenium, Hks Exhaust with Tomei Dump (ordered).
