its shit, all Meguiars stuff is crap because they contain silicon in them and anything with  silicon in it does not last. I have done the tests on a boonet half with meguiars and the other half with other brands and meguiars lost every time

I have trouble replying to this without starting a flame war, or access to something to hit you around the head with :D but here goes.

Silicon will last longer than wax (it just will!)

Much of the anti silicon stuff comes from crash shops that don’t prep the job well enough prior to touch ups. The silicon penetrates better than wax and you need to remove it prior to painting.

If Maguire’s is such "crap" why is it one of the most common polishes used at car shows? (there are only 1 or 2 other brands enthusiasts use)

I agree wax can give a great effect, but in my experience the silicon is just as good and lasts a lot longer. I wonder if you used a silicon polish on top of a waxed surface and it was the wax that stoped the silicon bonding to the paint. next time cut and polish then wax/silicon and see which lasts longer.

na mate im talking about Silicon in there products they work well for one day and not the next, im not just talking about wax im talk about 90% of there stuff.

Maguire’s sell so much becuase it contians silicon looks good one day but not the next

What are you talking about here ??(Silicon will last longer than wax (it just will!))

I have used Meguire's stuff really nice shine but doent last for very long. Then I used a product called glossgaurd it lasts for ages and the finish is just as good or better.

But now I am going to try a product called 5 star shine PPS this is meant to last for 5 years and you only need to wash your car with water.

Both products can be found at this website. Highly recomend the gloss gaurd and will let you guys know how the 5 star shine goes. It better be as good as they say it is because its very expensive

Munna i used something similar, it is called amazing glaze. For the people that are in the car detailing industry you will know what I am talking about.

This stuff is $70 wholseale for a 70ml bottle which does your car once and once only. Basically it is meant to give an amazing glaze .... which it did!!! came up better than any other polish.

However with little scratches and nicks in the paint from the environement I am worried next time i want tot buff it up before a show i fear i will actually take the glaze off!! but Damn it looks good now!!! We just had huge storms here in perth, when i got home i put a towel on the roof wiped it once and ALL the water from that area was gone, I have never seen anything like it or that comes even close!! If you have a company in your states callled care care give them a call and ask them to do it!!! BE WARNED IT IS VERY EXPENSIVE!! but we all want to care for our babies :-)

Meguirs i give the thumbs up though, they have a great car wash! go the Gold Class car wash, works every time!

I have heard from one detailer that Swissol is the shit but have never tried it.

Personally I like Meguiars products...and they smell nice too :D

Swissol better be damm good considering their car care collection kits cost in the hundreds. I've seen them start from $170 to as high as $1000+ :blah:

Don't know how you came to that conclusion SirSkyline, coz just quoting from the Car Care Specialists site it states that "Carnauba (natural) wax is more sensitive to excess car wash. Where as, with synthetic waxes (eg. Meguiar's tech wax) tend to last longer, but don't seem to provide the same depth of shine".

For a good read: http://www.carcareonline.com/howto.aspx

I've used Meguiar's & 3M products in the past with great results, but I've been introduced to 'Ultra Gloss + DGS' & I can't help but rave above the results (I should be on an infomercial :) ).

r34_skyline haven't used that particular wax yet, but there's no harm in trying it, if you not satisfied is there any where on the bottle that says you can return it & get a refund?

This particalar polish comes with 2 bottles the first one is a car wash its supposed to give the car a positive charge then the polish is applied as a negitive charge.

It says only to wash with water only and once a your to use their PH car wash so remove any grime build up on the protective coat.

IMO to get the best result from a hand polish, i start of with a gritty compound using machine polisher with lambswool pad, then use glaze polish with eggpad buff, then use a product like meguires to do final hand polish, after that give it a polish by hand every 6 or so months and my car always looks like new. hand polishes have very little cutting ability on their own, so its difficult to get a good long term result.

I am not bagging the probuct, because I have never tried it, but do they insist on you disconnecting the battery? because any positive charge from the product (and I am not sure where they purchase positive charge from) will be met by negative charge from the battery. I am always a bit sceptical about these positiv or negative charged products and their claims.

But surely if you only wash with water the dirt on the car will scratch up your paint (assuming you still use a sponge to get off marks/bird crap). I would think using a high sud soap would lubricate the dirt to some degree to avoid scratching. I'm no expert though, just asking :)

I've used one of the gold class? liquid polish's made by meguiars and it did crap all, won't be using it again.. still looking for a nice wax to use...

You my friend are a tosser!!! I dont really care about starting an arguement but your comments are ridiculous and unfounded at best. What about Meguires yellow wax then, its 100% natural, oh but i bet you havent heard of that cause you only know about your Autobarn/Supercheap variety's. Meguaires have been making polishes for more than 100 years and they have only been in australia since 1993, shit I wonder what they where doing before they came to Australia and people on the internet made stupid comments- like they are shit?????? Probably revoulutionizing the polish industry, every polish manufacturere in the world today has adopted manufacturing and application techniques for Meguaires, and that is a fact. Pray tell what brands has it lost to every time and what are the costs and what paint was it used and how was it applied??? If you know so much these should be easy questions to answer.

Every car in last years Summernats top 10, ie the best painted cars in Australia uses Meguaires polishes. It really pisses me off when people make stupid comments about products that they arent getting the best out of simply cause they dont know what they are doing. Its like when car detailers and painters that I know first started using House of Kolor paints, every one thought they where garbage, well know look at all the best paint jobs they are all HOK, it comes to understanding products and application technique. Just in case you think I am biased to Meguaires I am my old man was the first high profile show car in Australia to use their polishes and is still sponsored by them, however this aside they are still one of the best polishes available and shouldnt be just sumed up with "that has silicon thats shit"!!! Hey at first none of their products had any artificial products but people complained the shine didnt last... IF you want to talk silicon talk to me about some of the brands you mentioned and their tyre shine's, at least meguires long last tyre shine doent have silicon so all the dust can stick to it. So in closing provide proof or dont open your mouth.

the gold class series is meant for cars that already have a high shine and just need to remove super fine scratches not reshine the paint that is why you had bad results, I would recommend using Meguiares speed glaze on a fine meguaires buffing pad on a really slow speed buff the whole car with a stoke of the bonnet taking around 6-8 seconds. then hand polishing with tech wax to revitalize paint back to a factory lustre.

    • Don't even try to run it on the stock ECU if you're going to have the boost controller bring boost above ~10 psi. I've already told you that. If you use the Nistune ECU, you will need to CAREFULLY read the available documentation for Neo tuning, and read some threads on the Nistune forums, to discover the various things you have to do to prevent the ECU from going bananas when the boost is too high. The is a table associated with th boost sensor that must be modified to prevent it from shitting the bed. This is just one of the things that you will need to do to the tune in Nistune, because the Neo turbo ECU will be expecting to see a number of things (such as the TCS) that are not there, and you have to block the DTCs on those. It is totally not surprising to me that you are having the problems that you are, but the solutions to these problems have been known for >15 years. So just get it done.
    • Hi. Sry iam not a mechanic and iam not at the car atm so i dont know 100% but they told they measure those and even try to change those. AFM they have two. Coils are new a they have my old one too. Plugs too. ECU...we have 25 NEO stock and Nistune 25 NEO.   But i dont know if any one those could be the problem and why/if/what can cause this, Only thing they did not check is fuel...but that walbro 255 is new(like 1,5 years)... That fuel pressure gauge idk...but i let them know Any suggestions?   EDIT: how can they know if it is like you say he ECU pull power when it reaches a specific boost level that is too high? Tha car has boost controler
    • Can you clarify what you mean by boost cut, do you mean it misfires both when under load (driving) and when stationary and out of gear? Or does the ECU pull power when it reaches a specific boost level that is too high (boost control issue)? Does it occur at idle with no throttle? When you say "the ECU is OK", what ECU is it and why do you think it is OK? Have you used the NEO ECU, and if so do you have a MAP sensor attached? Same for the AFM, why do you think it is OK? Do you have any way to put a fuel pressure gauge on it (even just a mechanical one between the fuel filter and fuel rail)?
