Hey guys, i've been online for to long so i'll keep this short.

My Father just informed me that 2 youngish guys (mid 20's) came to my house today saying they were from "Western Electricity" (they had jackets with that logo on them) My father asked for ID but they said they did'nt have any on them (highly illegal not to carry ID when representing a business and coming to someones property) They then asked how many people lived at the property, my dumbass dad told them, then they asked if the statesman out the front was his? for some unknown reason he didnt tell them to get the hell off the property and said "Yes it is" then they asked what kind of car his son (me) drives, he then told them it was "one of those sporty things".

I cant for the life of me fathom why alarm bells did'nt trigger with him, but he was kind enough to give them all that info. Then they left........

Now alarm bells rang with me immediately as i've recently given quite a few people my address to come and see the car, that hav'nt turned up.

As soon as he told me (only a few minutes ago) I checked the phone books for "Western Electricity" ....surprise surprise, they wer'nt there.

I called directory assistance and they have no listing of the company either.....now can someone tell me why an allegedly large electricity company (that i've never heard of mind you) has absolutely no way of being able to be contacted?

Has anyone ever heard of this company? and if so, get me their damn number and i'll be abusing the hell out of them. Although i'll check 1st to see if they had anyone come to my area.

Just a warning to everyone out there, that i beleive 70% that these guys were there to plan on stealing my car, and if anyone can help me out with any info on the alleged company i'd greatly appreciate it.

Andrew, quick search on the list of all Electrical contractors in Australia

Search Keyword: Western Electricity

Total 0 results found.

Also

Search Keyword: Weston Electricity

will search more tommorrow, but for now, i dont think this "company" exists

Energy Australia are currently doing door knocking in the ACT. Not sure if it was possibly some of these guys? Although wouldn't explain why they were asking about the cars nor the lack of identification. Girl that was at my door had clear identification though.

if you wanna leave your car at some other location, i'll give up my garage spot for a couple of nights if you need it. plenty of safe sercure parking at my joint. its off street. the offer is there.

wow, thanks alot Luke!

It should be all good at my place, i've gone into lock down mode and its now very very secure, for those of you that have seen where i park it you'll know just how hard it is to walk past...let alone steal. But i've now taken even more measures to secure it. Thats not to say its theft proof, but it'd be damn hard.

I called Ecowise, and got put straight through to a manager named Mick, he was REALLY concerned but very helpful. As my father was the only one that saw them, Mick asked that my Father call him back, they have photos of many current and previous employees and its quite likely that if thats the case then my dad can identify them.

I'll get back to you all asap.

What the hell was your dad thinking?

I wouldnt be at all suprised to hear about an attempt (succesful or not) to steal your car in the next week or so.

I think you left out a really important question, why would they want to know about the cars? Why? Is that all they asked about?

Again I refer to the top of my post...

well.... damn, sounds uber dodgy! id say call the cops and let em know, its abit of a shame your dad cant remember what company it was :S it wouldve cleared it up alot. and if u wanna get your mug on tv go to 60 mintues or a current affair! theyll take anything as a story. hope nothing goes wrong andrew and if alarm bells do ring im only less than 5 mins away ill be sure to bring crowbars, baseballs bats, trolly poles or nunchuks. just let me know :):)

hahah you sneaky lil bastard gus lol!

Im waiting on a call from my Dad to let me know whats happened, my guess is, he's forgot what day it is, thinks he's some sort of spacecowboy or all of the above.....senility is a cruel mistress bahaha.

    • Fark what are the changes of that snapping like that, clean. Nek minnit, custom radiator goes in, with built in oil cooler like those discontinued PWR ones from yesterdeacades ago
    • I thought I'd do a write up on an auto transmission fluid change for a the nissan 7 speed Automatic. At some stage the genius engineers decided that the fluid in the trans was "for the life of the transmission", (which seems kind of self supporting to me) and removed the dip stick and fill tube (funnily enough there is still a casting for it). Anyway, for this job you do need 2 specialist tools in addition to regular hand tools, jack and good chassis stands. You need a way to pump fluid up to the transmission; I got one of these but there are plenty of other options: https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/364584087070 Don't trust the generic listing though, it does not come with the required adapter for the Nissan 7 Speed. You need one of these, can't do the job without it: https://navarapart.com.au/product/genuine-nissan-patrol-y62-d23-np300-navara-re7-dipstick-fill-connector1 You need a heap of compatible transmission oil. Could be Nissan, could be anything else rated for Nissan Matic S. You need at least 10 litres, I had 15 to give it a better flush... Also, you need some biiig oil catch trays, at least one of these, or bigger if possible (volume was fine, size was very marginal): https://autobarn.com.au/ab/Autobarn-Category/Tools-%26-Garage/Specialty-Tools/Oil-Service/Garage-Tough-Oil-Drain-Pan-Black-16L---GT1068/p/TO03191 Finally, a measuring jug is very useful if your pump does not have volumes marked on it, I got a 6l one: https://www.repco.com.au/oils-fluids/fluid-accessories/measuring-jugs/penrite-measuring-jug-6l-pmj006/p/A5322648 Oh, and gloves.....this stuff is horrible (not as bad as diff oil, but getting there) ....First, jack up your car.....
    • So I mentioned the apprentice, @LachyK helped take the bonnet off. We just undid the nuts on the hinges and unclipped the gas struts, then pulled the bonnet back a little as the front was catching on the front bar.  I had a good look at everything today and have removed the rams, repaired/reset the hinges and bolted it back together like it never happened. I'll do a separate write up on the repair, and I also removed the poppers from the Fuga today too to save grief down the road.....as said above it is at least $5k to repair retail. I'm also happier about my ability to prepare a race car, and less happy about Nis-nault's engineering (I can hear @GTSBoy sAfrican Americaning) because the top hose of the radiator didn't slip off.......it snapped clean off. By practice I put the hose clamp hard up against the flare on a neck to make it least likely to ever move (thanks @Neil!). I guess that puts a little more pressure on the end of the pipe as it is further away from the rad, but still, that is pretty shit. I've put it back on for now as there was a fair bit of neck still there, but obviously there is no lip on the neck any more so I don't think I'll track it again until I have a new rad. Speaking of which....more research required. It looks like Koyo makes a standard size radiator in ally which I'll grab in the meantime, but I really want something thicker so might have to go custom in the medium term (ouch) Coolant still needs a refill and I have the pressure tester on it over night, but other than a wash down of the engine bay it seems alright. And @MBS206 noted something noisy on the front of the engine and I think I agree....time for a new accessory belt and tensioners I think.
    • our good friends at nismo make a diff for it, I have one (and a spare housing to put the centre in) on the way. https://www.nismo.co.jp/products/web_catalogue/lsd/mechanical_lsd_v37.html AMS also make a helical one, but I prefer mechanical for track use in 2wd (I do run a quaife in the front, but not rear of the R32)
