R33 I reckon for looks, can't beat the Skyline tail lights.

Although, 180sx look good as a package, more sleak.

In terms of performance, i think standard, R33 would be slightly better, but a 180sx has better dollar for dollar modification potential.

As everyone has summed up, both are great cars, really comes down to personal preference.

Good to see ppl are giving real opinions instead of "get the line mate" that ud expect.

If i was to ask the same comparison but instead of 33 GTS-T say 32 GTR would it b fair to say that it would b a unanimous decision on the GTR? (myself owning a 180 atm going 2 a GTR)

BTW...to the topic starter, who did u get ur loan with?

What about buying an excell and spending your left over cash on a big subwoofer, getting the engine bay chromed and a couple of GTR badges... and some full sick chrome wheels... and a custom license plate... ...bad joke hey...

180sx/skyline both excellent cars... I think you'd be happy with either. Just get whatever comes up first at the right price.

Also, I am unaware of any significant differences in "service" costs for skyline/180's and any other imports for that matter. I pay the same to get my car serviced as my old man pays for his old 4cyl pulsar.

You think, and you are wrong. The 180sx in terms of performance, is quicker. And yep, dollar for dollar mods it is also better.

180sx/Silvias are for boys.. Skylines are for real men

Can the thread starter see any appeal in smoking every r33/v8/wrx etc you see at the lights with attitudes like this? It is what I loved about my s13 :D

Buy a FMIC, 3" straight through, boost controller, then show them who the real men are :uh-huh:

See if you can find a sr20det manual silvia instead. It's exactly the same as a 180sx. dewing it, debadge it and drop it.. then you'll have even more people thinking they are in a faster car than you. So much fun.

Yeah, Silvias are great. Too bad they're fugly ;)

Particularly when your used to only seeing the back of them! :Pimp2:

:innocent:

I think that the silvias, 180sx's and r33s all look fugly in stock standard form.. thats why people modify them right?

Well a 180 needs standard skirts and some clear indicators to look good, doesnt cost to much.

A silvia needs alot of work while the Skyline can get away wit a type M kit on it which is fairly cheap... (both r32/33s). R33 series 2s look good in stock form aswell as nearly all R34s.

I thought people modified because of fast n furious?

I know the only reason I get Harry's to order overnight parts from Japan for my piston engine is because Dom uses them on his rotary.

    • Possibly avoid using a Cometic one unless the deck/head surface are perfectly flat. I did have a look just then and forgiving gaskets such as Tomei or Nitto don't exist for the FJ20, however the Bar-Tek or Kameari ones look good and might do the trick.
    • Because pipe threads for pipe things. M threads for bolt things. Throw some teflon sealant onto it and dust your hands off knowing you did the right thing, instead of going twice around the block to achieve a result using the wrong things. Of course, all of these solutions are ignoring the fact that the minimum thread pitch we're talking about here is 1.25mm, with the 1/4" in NPT or BPS being out around 1.4mm. You will need to know that the boss you're tapping has enough thickness for at least a few threads. That's one of the reasons that 1/8" is commonly used - because the pitch is <1mm. And why would you look to use 1/4" NPT in a BSP country anyway? Ugh.
    • Just throwing around ideas, does it need to be in the compressor cover? Why not the hot side piping?
    • 1/8NPT drill size = 8.7mm. Since the hole got messed up by me, it’s probably around 9mm.    So 1/4” NPT would be next step. A drill size of around 11mm would be preferred there which is not way of my M12 (drill 10.5mm and tap M12 threads)
