Hi guys, was just pointed out to this thread ;)

altho, its the worse day of my life - i think im safe to say "it could of been much worse"

a good point taken into consideration is when a guy from the boostcruising.com forums made this comment - and then it clicked - so maybe guys with turbo timers - have a bit of a think :(

So sorry to see. Terrible shame to happen to such a nice car.

I am interested to know if you turned the ignition off when you got out of the car initially?

its funny, because i did turn the keys off -and put the keys in my pocket (its all i have, and they are my new lucky charm)

BUT - now that i think about it - maybe the fire continued because i have a turbo timer - the engine was still "spose" to be running -which would mean the fuel pumps are still feeding fuel -

this could of been one of the reasons why i couldnt put the fire out - as while im trying to fight it - the pumps are still supplying fuel for it..

i cannot be 110% sure its the reason why i couldnt put the fire out - but it did occure to me only this morning, when doing a "brainstorm" of the "Chain of events"

so it could of well been my turbo timer that was the ultimate cause for my demise - no timer = no ignition, and no power to anything in the car = might of been able to isolate the fire + 30sconds is what its set for, so it would of put 30seconds worth of fuel into the already flaming engine bay - 30seconds worth of 2xbosch 700hp pumps - thats a hell of a lot of fuel

Thanks for the kind words guys ;)

RIP BOOYA

that's why everyone needs to make sure their turbo-timer can't activate unless the handbrake is fully on.

Condolances mate - you'll be back better than ever.

Very much time to go the Nissan option - if you spent even a fraction of what you spent on the Magna on an R34, you would easily have it in the 11s.

as much as i love the R34's - and with all respect to you - i wanted something "different" - altho, i will be looking at the nissan camp for my next car for temp purpose, but the magna - was to show the world a "old mans car" can be something - atltho, it isnt much now, it did draw your attention didnt it ;)

Regards,

Ben

Man I feel really sorry for you! I had a magna before the skyline - same deal, i wanted something different tho i only got as far as lowering and 19's.... I have photo's of your car on my computer, one of the nicest put together magnas out there!

My condolances ;)

That woman didn't actually say "you look back on this and laugh" did she? If she did, shedeserves a smack in the head! it's not something you say while someones pride and joy is still burning!

I think i know the reason people put those battery isolator switched in now... I hope it wasn't the turbo timer, but it raises an interesting point... and I hear ya on the handbrake, that's the first thing I would have done too!

I can assure you tho, that if you decide to go the skyline route, you will never look back. I spent quite alot of money on the suspension on the magna, and the skyline is soooo much more dynamically(and in performance) superior out of the box than I could have hoped to make the magna be. To hell with being really different, it costs too much damn money!!! I bought the Skyline for the equivalent of the Magna, and I would have had to spend at the very least 15k on the Magna to even hope to get the enjoyment out of it that I do the skyline. As for being different, the skyline turns plenty enough heads to keep me satisfied :(

I know it seems like i bagged out the Magna here, but i still loved it for what it was ;) it had decent power, could leave commy's behind (much to their disgust) , handled ok, and made people think twice about their preconceptions of magnas. They're given a really bad wrap, and they dont deserve it. I blame mitsu's PR! but that's a story for another day.

hope you get some wheels back soon mate. Make sure you test drive a couple of r32's if you dont have alot of money to spend :)

talk about pwned.

No shit!

Your timer comment has got me really worried too.....

I have this other vid on my comp of a guy with what start out as a tiny electrical fire turns into one huge fire! He trys to put it out with a extingusher but still nothing, and shows the whole car burning to nothing!

My worst fear is watching my car burn and not being able to do anything!

    • Hi. This is just my curiosity because iam sure the tuner figure something out...but either way i want to ask. The "problem" is that the Nistune ECU (Stagea FW and RB25DET NEO from Stagea) sees many times the speed than the speedo does(he says the speedo show 120 km/h - correct speed and the ECU shows like 510km/h ) I told him that this car/tranny getting speed from rear diff. If iam not mistaken the RB25DET NEO "need" to see tranny speed sensor? (my tranny has the plug for it). So couple of "question" If he connects/wire the speed sensor to the tranny...are the signals gonna intervene and if...what if he disconnects the rear diff one and the speedo stops working? Or the "new" sensor from the tranny "take over" and will not going need the one from diff? As i said i know he figure/get that done...iam just curious to know what are the solutions 🙂
    • Your IACV is set to idle too low. You need to adjust it via the screw Duncan mentioned. From memory it should be 650rpm with the valve electrics unplugged. What is it trying to idle at with the IACV plugged in?
    • Ahhh, I need the whole head unit. I definitely needed to roll back through and review your setup, ha ha! Neat setup they have going on. I just need a full double din head unit. But I want good and responsive. I might have to review what the likes of pioneer have out these days.
    • Ok so after much research and talking with knowledgeable people I've got my turbo conversion done and it's all running great other than 1 small issue.  Car has remained auto with the na auto and tcm, I've used a stagea ecu with. NIstune board and everything is great other than my gear selection on the dash. It illuminates park, reverse, neutral, 3rd and 2nd. But nothing drive or what gear your in when you pop it into tiptronic.  I'm sure there is may e 1 wire in the ecu plug I need to move to rectify this. Dose anyone here have any ideas?   Cheers guys
    • Sorry I haven't been following all the detail, so you may have tried this. Does it idle with the tiniest bit of throttle you can add? You've mentioned the IACV, does it have an AAC valve and have you adjusted it at all (ie, screw the idle adjust screw all the way in, then back it out a couple of turns until idle is stable)?
