Hey all,

Just installed my SITC last night. Just wanting to make sure everything is working ok. When I just switch the ignition to on (not start car though) the lights do a little dance and then go Red. Kick the car over then the first one is Green, Second is orange and the last 3 a Red. Is that normal or should they all be green. I used a timing light and tried the 800rpm knob from 10 degrees retard to advance and thats what it showed on the crank when look at it with the light. So i assume that since this knob is working the rest will too.

Thank for any help

Josh

yes that is correct. You should be able to hear the difference in timing at 800rpm going from -15 to +15.

The unit also tracks what revs you are at. For example if you are at 4000 rpm the 4000 rpm light will be green, the 5600 and 2400 will be orange and the rest will be red.

Im a bit gutted it doesnt have an adjustment point for 4600 rpm as thats where the ECU R&R really cuts out.

Yeah sweet. I was only testing it at idle but could hear the revs change when retarding and advancing the 800 knob. And I double checked it with the timing light. Now just have to get it and the safc tuned. I have both units set at zero correction and after fitting the front mount I have raised boost to 10psi and man is it running like sh#t. From about 3000 the ecu is really retarding the timing and then kicks back in again around 4800 to 5000. Light throttle normal driving is ok but when I go wot the map feels like its all over the place not to mention worse fuel economy then I was getting before so I'm assuming I'm hitting R&R. The car has previously made 150awkw with the previous owner but no piggy backs so am hoping for at least that again. However I'm guessing its had a few piggy backs in its life going but the amount of tapped wires on the ecu loom :stupid:

Hi,

Just wondering if anyone can give me an idea of what sort of adjustment settings I should expect to be needing with my S-ITC. I am not planning on doing this myself, car is going on a dyno, but wanted to have an idea to tell the tuner where to start and to compare what he comes up with. I also have a S-AFC neo going in at the same time.

Car:

97 Stagea RS4

Mods are:

*BOS Split front dump pipe

*CATCO Metal Cat

*3" trust exhaust (not sure exactly what one, has two oval mufflers though - from R32 and modded to fit)

*Turbotech mechanical boost controller (These are gated, so actually hold pressure to specified Psi, doesn't just bleed air off constantly. Pretty sweet for $30)

*R34 Skyline Intercooler

*K&N panel filter

*radiator air deflector :D

Planning to be running 9-10Psi boost, depending on what the air temps with just a sidemount cooler look like.

Thanks,

Stu

You'll be fine with 11psi.

I'll get some info on my settings tonight (or try a search on: Tangles SITC settings, Tangles SAFC settings).

edit: here we go http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...hl=Tangles+SITC

thanks guys,

looking to get it all done in the next few weeks so will let you know the power figures and settings for comparison. Also have a GTR fuel pump going in, to be on the safe side :(

Where can i get a SITC from? i am having trouble finding it...

here's one for you :w00t:

Just keep an eye on eBay (US site www.ebay.com) as they pop up pretty regularly. 'Used' ones are usually $199. I got mine of this seller in 4 days.

Got my Apexi SITC from Japan though ebay. The instructions are in Japanese but there is a translation somewhere on the internet. If anyone needs it I have the PDF pages for the Stagea. will attempt to attach them but if that doesn't work I can email them.

I would love a copy of these while I can! There are no other alternatives to the S-ITC that I can find (like jaycar iebc / apexi safc are alternatives) so I will probably need to get one of these one day. Can you have a go at posting it here first so we can all benefit, or else PM it to me? Cheers :)

guys try this link:

do you need me to scan the stagea wire diagram?

its here on the site: http://www.ca.dsm.org/Tech/S-ITC-p.10-11.pdf

*grabbed* awesome, thanks Tangles! Do you know if this suits series 2/R34 as well as series 1?

If I've the chance to get a apexi sitc should I go for it??

Car sits as follows, downpipe, decat, hks exhaust, uprated hybrid turbo, uprated fuel pump, apexi airfilter, uprated coil pack, greddy fmic, greddy boost control.

Yes definatley as although they do come up they're still not easy to get. But get a Apexi SAFC while your at it. That way you'll be able to tune Fuel and Timing. Also when you do make changes on the SAFC it can have an effect on the timing also which can be dialed out with the SITC.

Cheers for the fast reply mate! I got one second hand still in box and in good condition ;)

just looking for a well priced safc now! :)

    • Maf is a question mark but TPS  I have set at 0.47, the fact that I’m getting proper voltage range out of it with the key on leads me to believe it’s functioning properly. I’m getting proper voltages on basically everything. I still need to look up voltage ranges for z32 maf and test that
    • Honestly no not at all, but it’s a very basic tune, it’s stock injectors q45 tps and z32 maf. Other than that it’s a completely stock base map. The file is from nistune and from my understanding if it was tune related I would be able to unplug maf and tps and it would still start even if it was a really shitty start. I have tried starting it with coolant temp, maf, and tps unplugged none of those 3 togethor or individually changes anything

    • What does it look like with highway driving? And yes, I had a similar thought as Duncan. It looks quite similar in my Stagea and I have made myself accept it as normal. Might have to look into it some day   Highway gets as low as 10l/100km on my end so I'm not as worried about it being a mechanical issue. More likely just the tune on the haltech.
    • While I was waiting for the new parts to come in for the charge pipe and radiator I decided to do some turbo modification. The drive pressure (exhaust backpressure) was a lot higher that I thought it should be. For 32lbs of boost drive was 55lbs. The turbine housing is a 1.10AR and my turbo builder has suggested to go to a 1.25AR. To test if a larger AR would do anything to reduce drive pressure AND not spend any money I decided to hog out the divider in my current housing. I removed it from the inlet and the whole way through the housing.  After reassembly and testing it doesn't look like this modification did anything for reducing drive pressure or requiring more fuel (making more power). Oh well, it was worth a shot. We'll get some data at the track if it makes it past the 60ft. I also machined a $7 shift knob off Amazon to fit my Stillway shifter since I didn't like the Stillway shift knob. Next on the list was the radiator replacement and fabrication of a new intercooler tube that had no silicon coupler. No pictures of this - I was short on time each night after work to get this done and didn't stop to take pictures.  Next was to get the clutch disks out and replaced. Previously when installing the dogbox I had ordered a set of the same sintered iron disks I had been running because I switched to the 26-spline input shaft. I thought it was odd that they didn't have any markings or brand name on them like all my old disks had but installed them anyway. At the track I could not get the clutch to lock up using my normal strategies. After two track nights I reached out to the clutch manufacturer and ask their thoughts. They said they had to switch the material out because they were having trouble getting the original material and that this new material would not take to being slipped very well.  So out with the first set of 26-spline disks and in with the correct material 26-spline disks. While I had the trans out I added an inspection/service hole. I've wanted one of these for a while. Now I can have a look at things and change the front cover shimming when needed (clutch wear). I hustled and got the clutch change done in a few hours on a Saturday. Hopped in the car and drove home. On the way home I did a 1-3 pull. When shifting from 2nd to 3rd the core plug in the back of the cylinder head popped out and dumped all the coolant. Thankfully I was only 30 seconds from home and coasted it there. Datalog showed nothing unusual and 2.5psi of coolant pressure. That plug has been in there since 1992 but I guess it worked its way out. Pulled the trans AGAIN and replaced the plug, JB welded it in, and made a brace. Also deleted the head drain I had added in during the bearing issue fiasco.  I am currently changing my boost control plumbing to make it cleaner. After that is done I'll make another attempt at getting past the 60.
