Hey guys.

I've had a slight problem with supply. The company had run out of the material, and they expect more in today or tomorrow.

Might be the end of this week before I get them.

I'm sorry for the delay, normally this company is very good.

I'll keep you informed.

Cheers

Pete

Hi Guys.

I'm terribly sorry about the delay.

The parts are now being cut at the subcontractors, in fact they should be ready tomorrow or Monday.

I have been interstate with work the last couple of day so I haven't had a chance to follow it up.

I'm very sorry for the delay.

I'll let you know when I have the blanks in, and then soon after that they will be finished.

Cheers

Pete

Hi Guys.

There was some confusion with the drawings for the guides at the sub contractors.

Last group buy, there was three types, this time only two, so we confirmed drawings today, parts cut tomorrow morning.

I understand this has dragged along for too long, and I apologise. Unfortunately, I have been working 16 hour days on one of the biggest deals I'm ever likely to put together ($1.7-2.0 Million !!) and simply haven't been watching this group buy close enough.

But have no fear, the time is nigh.

Here's the blanks.

Arrived this arvo.

I'm away for the first few days of next week, so I'll bend them as soon as I can.

Hi Guys.

I was held up in NSW and QLD this week and have only just got back to the office.

The flat parts are in my office and Monday next week I will give the parts to the Press Brake guy to bend up.

Again, I'm very sorry that this has been another delay. I was supposesd to be back in Melbourne Wednesday morning. I ran out of clean underwear on Wednesday!!

Hey guys.

I've pulled the guide off my car to get the angles for yours, but my boss has arranged for me to go to a big Engineering Trade Show in Chicago called Metalcon.

I leave at 10am on Monday and don't return till the following Monday morning.

Again, this will cause a delay, and I apologise but there's nothing I can do about this. I only found out this morning.

I'm very sorry for the delay, and I never meant it to take this long.

Being away also means I can't fit my new turbo for another week!

So, I arrive back into Australia Monday monring, and I will endevour to get the guides out by that Wednesday.

Sorry Guys

  • 2 weeks later...

Gentlemen,

I'm back in the country now and the blanks are over at the Press Brake guy to be bent. I've pulled my original one off my car to make them the same.

The shop is pretty busy so they said they will be ready by the end of the week. I will prepare all the packaging and delivery dockets in the mean time so that I can hopefully get them out by Friday.

Again, sorry for the delay, my group buys don't normally go like this.

Thanks for your patience guys.

Cheers

Pete

Gentlemen, the time has come.

The guides are sitting in my office.

I'll be packaging them tonight and shipping them tomorrow.

Sorry for the delay, but as they say, good things come to those who wait.

cheers

Lastly, I'm sorry for the delay guys, it was meant to be very soon after you paid that the goods were shipped, but I had supplier problems.

Good news is that our company just bought a Press Brake and a Turret punch, so now I can make these up myself and not out-source them!

Anywhoo.

Thanks for participating in the group buys.

I hope you like your radiator air guides, as much I I do playing with the designs on them.

Thanks mate, we appreciate your effort that went into all this! (for no profit or return). No big deal on the wait - these things happen, and you are obviously a busy bloke.

So now your work has the machinery, what other goodies can you make us?

What about stainless door sills? (someone on ns.com has been making them up for Silvias, with the logo cutout and blue leds put underneath). These would be great! I am trying to think of other fabrications too ....

    • It was a great, but typical track day, and some VB was ingested at the night time debrief 🤪
    • And so, to round this out, I couldn't be happier to confirm @MBS206 has decided to buy the car. He drove down from sunny QLD with a trailer last week and it is off to its new home today. I'll let Matt confirm on next steps but I understand broadly that the plan is to leave it pretty much as is, and just get some quality wheel time with a nicely balanced car that is pretty much track ready. There are a few a jobs still to be done first but nothing too major and I think its a very smart buy Dinner last night at the Paragon with a round of VBs (mostly) for Neil
    • Well, 50 pages and the end of a chapter for this car. We took it out for a shakedown at Wakie yesterday, and everything went well. There were a couple of niggles: - Oil cooler fitting leak - tightened, cleaned, stopped leaking - Radiator cap overflow fitting was leaking....Mark called it, the overflow fitting was threaded in and not tight....tightened, tested and held pressure - Small oil leak at the rear of the block, probably the turbo oil feed - too hot to get at it comfortably but probably just needs to be nipped up - leak at the driver's side rear brake line where it meets the hardline. Fitting wasn't loose, so Matt backed it off and back on, no further leaks - there's also a leak somewhere on the top of the fuel tank, maybe that cross over fuel line - that was has been left to fix when its on a hoist Otherwise than those niggles the car went great, turned great and stopped great so it was a very successful day out. I'm always really nervous when a car first hits the track after a long break, especially with a brand new engine as well but it was great. VID-20251011-WA0007.mp4  Big thanks to @The Bogan who dropped by and helped out, @MBS206 and my nephew Lachlan the apprentice.  Neil's wife Mel also surprised the hell out of all of us by dropping by; she's up in Tamworth these days but was travelling to Melbourne so had plausible deniability for turning up at the garage, it was great to see her but also obviously a bit sad all round.

    • Unsolicited advice? Keep the engine as close to stock as you can. Nothing wrong with adding some boost and making a little more power, but given where you are, you really don't want to try to make it into a monster. I can't imagine the roads are up to it, and the lack of locla support when it grenades will be a ball ache. FWIW, If there is a dyno around that you can access, then brand new injectors are a good idea, which will lead you to (at least) putting a Nistune in it, which will allow you to put an R35 AFM on it, all of which will make it possible to make it much much nicer to drive and live with.
