AlexCim
So uhh, what are we going to do about pads? I mean, mine are not running low, but i would want to upgrade rotors/pads all as soon as financially possible... Terminal
I got new pads no problems a few months back, Marc2 helped me figure out what pads i needed and got them sent to his workshop. i wouldn't think they would stop making them as they were on other common cars too. This was for a series 1 by the way Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/82083-stagea-brakes/page/3/#findComment-1641432 Share on other sites
-FUZZY-
ok...quick questions as little confused after readin this thread. 1. What calipers do Stagea's come with?? (s1) Are they 4 pots? 2. Upgrade calipers ..... is 33GTST worth it, or spend extra and get 33 GTR calipers? 3. I know u guys have mention DBA a stack, anyone here used RDA discs at all?? AlexCim
Upgrading calipers isnt really worth it that much... so i think You can just spend some money on -good pads -braided brake lines -good rotors that will be suitable enough for you, unless you want to start racing the stagea full time Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/82083-stagea-brakes/page/3/#findComment-1642994 Share on other sites

The 4 pot GTST calipers are like $200 (through a mate) .... and l'm sure a set of slotted disc's wouldn't be that much. Are the lines the same for the stagea as they are for the R33, as there would be braided line kits out there already l'd imagine? Rims are fine, l've got 18's so clearance won't be a problem!! Terminal
I think you'll find the rears are already R33 GTST, the fronts are off some american nissan Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/82083-stagea-brakes/page/3/#findComment-1643443 Share on other sites

AlexCim
So really, the best thing for any stagea owner to make it easy for us Upgrade the calipers to something a little more common Same applies for the discs... Terminal
Yeah i almost bought a set of R33 GTR Brembo's for $2500, full discs and calliper kit, basically bolts onto the stagea. i didn't end up getting it because i decided to get an Autech next year. my brakes work for now and i don't go thrashing it or carrying bags of cement, so i can stop it without problems. i've had to use the abs a few times already due to idiot drivers. Or have I missed something obvious? Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/82083-stagea-brakes/page/3/#findComment-1653625 Share on other sites
AlexCim
Is it possible to put a switch on the ABS somewhere (aka, from the fuse box) to turn it on/off? Tangles
Yes... very possible. I just went a week with no ABS and no 4WD... just blow an ABS 30amp fuse in the engine bay!!! If ppl can make a switch to turn on/off the 4WD then the ABS would be exactly the same, but I dont see why you'd want to take off a safety feature as such. Good question - unless they aren't grabbing fast enough (they should be) and they aren't fading (ie you aren't using them a lot ie out at the track etc) wouldn't you be better spending the money on suspension and tires - both of which will improve braking?Or have I missed something obvious? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> This is exactly where i did spend my money, i spent about $4k on full suspension and tyre upgrade and now the car handles like a dream. i can stick to almost any corner and with the awd i don't lose control where my previous car (r33 gtst) would have. i think i went the more sensible route. Tangles
Great tips, thanks fellas. When Im ready, I'll be grabbing slotted front rotors, good pads all round, and maybe braided lines to the front rotors. That should up the ante somewhat........
