hes talking -4 degrees camber on the rear. and has R33 gtr wheels. which as you said are 17x9 +30, and wants to add spacers to add more poke. which in my opinion is unnecessary. but then, im not mexican.

4 degrees is a silly amount of rear camber......mine has mininal camber(not sure how much) but already very slippery compared to stock

thats what i was clarifying however -4 camber on standard arms as previously stated is impossible even with sacking it to the ground...

But your absolutely right camber in rear is completely stupid and doesnt help the car handle at all on the road

Hey all just need an expert opinion on a set of rear wheels I am getting. Long story short, I waited a little to late to get a set of wheels I wanted. Now the store only has rears available in a 18x10 +40. I know this will not fit, I just wanted to know what size spacer I would have to run in the rear in order to make it sit flush with the guard? I also have two offest sizes available for the front 18x9 +24 and 18x9 +30. Which of these offsets will sit flush with the guard with no mods needed. Also, with spacer calculation say the rim is a +40 will a 5mm spacer then make it +35?

Wow!!!!! Thanks for the quick response. So sorry was rushing forgot to mention its a r33 gts-t. How big a spacer would you say is just to big and ya might as well get a rim with the right offset. I was thinking of putting a 10mm spacer on back. or a 5mm. Will a 5mm be enough for the rear wheel to clear the necessary parts?

depending on the wheel size you have on now i would say you would have atleast 25 - 30mm less clearance on the inside of the guard (closer to the strut) and about 30-40mm more poke towards the guard.

complete guess there on rim sizes that you have but i rekon a 10mm spacer will get you out of trouble just fine :)

Right now I am stock. Just wanted to make sure I get the fitment right for the rims I am about to get. To let you know what they are front 18x9 +24 or +30

and rear 18x10 +40 with a 10mm spacer. How does that sound. Which offset should I go with in the front for a flush fitment no mods? I was leaning towards the +30

IMO its always best to test fit or measure to ensure fitment you want.

if you dont want to agressive on the front go the 18x9 +30 and then the 18x10 +40 and add that 10mm spacer. may need to just roll the inside lip depending on tyre sizes but should be all ok :)

with that ull need to do more than roll the inside lip unless ur planning on running some camber or a stretched tyre (or keeping it at stock height).

Hey jjman, what all will I have to do in order to get those wheels to fit in your opinion? To give you an idea with what I am working with the car has rear camber arms and coilovers front and rear. This is a r33 gtst. The rims I have in mind are 18x9 +24 or +30 in the front with a 235 40 tire and in the rear 18x10 +40 with a 10 mm spacer cause the 18x10 +22 are no longer available, with a 265 35 tire. In the front will the +24 be a better fitment and if the have another color available with the +24 in the rear will that be a better fitment? Are those tire sizez ok? Please someone help cause I am about to purchase these rims tomorrow and do not want to get them if they are too much trouble. Do not want to run ridiculous camber in the front or rear as it is a daily driver that will be doing some drag runs from time to time.

18x9+24 still won't poke. That is a close to flush fitment, it will sit about 2-3mm inside the guard. Safe. Running 18x9.5+22 and it is poking around 5mm with 0 camber, your offset is 8mm further inset.

With the 18x10+40 issue, a 15mm spacer will push it out to the same as the picture linked, which is my 18x10.5+30 245/40

If you are going to push it out ^ that far, and slam it, you will need to run stretch and rolled guards unless you want to look mexican.

Can't see the pic as I am to work, but I want to run a 265 35 18 on the back with as flush a fitment as I can get. I don't want any poke just sitting flush with the guard and lowered.

Interesting.

I was thinking about going 18x10+38 on the back of my 33 gtst. Thought i had plenty of room on the inside. What are you expecting it will foul on. Shock / Strut? Need to remeasure...

265 is a pretty big tyre, maybe drop a size but either way you will have to lip the inside of the guard

more than likeley foul on the strut. drop the offset to low 30s

    • Even more fun, leave all the ADAS stuff plugged in, but in different locations, hopefully avoid any codes!   And honestly, all these new cars with their weird electronics. Pull all the electronics out Duncan, and just shove an aftermarket ECU and if needed a trans controller in, along with a PDM. Make it run basic but race car styled!
    • To follow up a question from earlier too since I had the front bar off again (fking!) This is what is between the bumper and the drivers side wheel And this is the navigator side, only one thing but its a biggy! So basically....no putting coolers in the wheel arches without a lot of moving other stuff. Assuming I move to properly race prepping this car I'll take that job on and see how the computers respond to removing a whole bunch of ADAS modules
    • So I prepped the car for another track day on Wednesday (will be interesting to see coolant temps post flushing out and the larger reservoir, with a forecast of 3-14 being 20o cooler than last time I took it out). Couple of things to mention; since I am just driving the car and not taking a support vehicle, I took the rear seats out and just loaded the back up Team Trackday style. Look at all that space! To cover off removing the rear seat....it is weird (note the hybrid is probably different because it wouldn't have folding rear seats) Basically, you remove the lower seat base, very similar to a r series but it is a clip that pulls forward to release the base rather than it being bolted down. Easy Then, you need to remove the side section of the rear seat on each side. There is a 14mm head nut at the bottom of the side piece, the it slides upwards off a hook at the top to release; you also need to unhook the seatbelt from the loop at the top. Then the centre piece is weird. You need to release/fold the seats forward with the tab in the boot on each side From there, there are 2,x12mm headed bolts holding the rear of each seat to the folding bracket, under the trim between the rear seat and the boot (4x christmas tree clips there, they suck). The seat is out but you can see where the bolts attach to the bracket
    • As discussed in the previous post, the bushes in the 110 needed replacing. I took this opportunity to replace the castor bushes, the front lower control arm, lower the car and get the alignment dialled in with new tyres. I took it down to Alignment Motorsports on the GC to get this work done and also get more out of the Shockworks as I felt like I wasn't getting the full use out of them.  To cut a very long story short, it ended up being the case the passenger side castor arm wouldn't accept the brand new bush as the sleeve had worn badly enough to the point you could push the new bush in by hand and completely through. Trying a pair of TRD bushes didn't fix the issue either (I had originally gone with Hardrace bushes). We needed to urgently source another castor arm, and thankfully this was sourced and the guys at the shop worked on my car until 7pm on a Saturday to get everything done. The car rides a lot nicer now with the suspension dialled in properly. Lowered the car a little as well to suit the lower profile front tyres, and just bring the car down generally. Eternally thankful for the guys down at the shop to get the car sorted, we both pulled big favours from our contacts to get it done on the Saturday.  Also plugged in the new Stedi foglights into the S15, and even from a quick test in the garage I'm keen to see how they look out on the road. I had some concerns about the length of the LED body and whether it'd fit in the foglight housing but it's fine.  I've got a small window coming up next month where I'll likely get a little paint work done on the 110 to remove the rear wing, add a boot wing and roof wing, get the side skirt fixed up and colour match the little panel on the tail lights so that I can install some badges that I've kept in storage. I'm also tempted to put in a new pair of headlights on the 110.  Until then, here's some more pictures from Easter this year.
    • I would put a fuel pressure gauge between the filter and the fuel rail, see if it's maintaining good fuel pressure at idle going up to the point when it stalls. Do you see any strange behavior in commanded fuel leading up to the point when it stalls? You might have to start going through the service manual and doing a long list of sensor tests if it's not the fuel system for whatever reason.
