Any chance of some pics?. I just bought another head unit to replace the pioneer carrozzeria unit (spaghetti City), and the new unit has all the wires connected to a plug. It sounds like this could be just the thing for an easy fit. That is apart from pulling out the spaghetti for the GPS, Satnav, DVD player, TV, Aerials etc :-(

Check my first post, I have updated with model number and picture. Just cut the brown connectors off and leave the white ones on there. The factory wires will click into the white connectors, and the coloured wires will match up with any aftermarket radio loom as they all use the same colour system. Just solder them on. :kiss:

Note .. This was for the standard double DIN radio and CD player, not sure about the Navi/TV units.

Does anyone know if the stock screens in the s2 stags operate in "ntsc" or "pal"? it's a tuf one i know. the local installer is going to do a dummy install on the weekend to see if a dvd head unit will work on the stock screen

Japan uses NTSC, so knowing that and the previous experience of other Stagea owners, I'm going with that. Quite a few products use a PAL to NTSC converter built-in, anyway...

I have wondered about the units that read PAL and NTSC discs as a lot do, I would be more interested in the signal they output? If you could get something that output NTSC as an option that would work.

I have checked my Factory screen by pluging in a a PAL MiniDV camera and the results where as expected, no good. The NTSC reversing camera works a treat though...

When I installed my stereo, the surround for the head unit refused to go on either behind or in front of the surround, and now that I've bought a DIN-sized gauge holder for my car, I'm having the same issues...

Has anyone noticed that the actual dash piece is slightly smaller than the regular DIN size? Or is it just me?

yeah - because its the facia. The actual DIN is the steel cradle that supports it all. I noticed the last time I had my player out that someone had very carefully relieved the edges of the face with something.

Got a Dremel and a steady hand? I don't think you have to take much off. This was the same with the old in dash radios for XD falcons

yeah, but it's kinda annoying that the stereo fits but the surround doesn't, and the same with the guage holder...

Don't have a dremel, but The Grumpy Old Man has about a million different files lying around which should suit the purpose.

get on ebay and buy and "iubi" 60gb hold all ur music n heaps of movies plugs into the front of ur Xanavi screen,i bought one with a 100gb laptop hdd in it. ive got about 10gb of music the rest are ntsc movies n TV episodes ive downloaded. best thing ever, watch all of heroes in high definition heaps of family guy, top gear, scrubs, my name is earl, futurama.

Alrighty i have a few questions with regards my head unit install any opinions appreciated.  First thing 'exitSTAGEAright' LEGEND of a man the aeropro adapter made things so easy. Im actually removing my head unit from my old car and into my 260rs and the plugs that were soldered onto it were the same brand accept i paid some prick $70 bucks to install it... jackass. Anyway i have all that sorted out as in the adapter soldered to my head unit no problems. Oh and by the way for all who are looking to buy these i called JB HIFI and they told me they weren't stocking these sort of adaptors anymore. Autobarn had them instock and said they would continue to. Anyway movin on

I bought the car without a head unit so as i recieved it with all the plugs just hangin out or tucked in the consol.

I *might* be pulling my dash apart again to connect (at least some of) my gauges, so I'll see if there are any plugs in there that look like that.

I wish I had a laptop so I could take it out to the garage, it would make it quite a bit easier. Saves me running all the way through the house back to my room, then out again to the car.

Has anyone relocated their air cond/heater controls in their stag?

i just want to move it from the top to the bottom of my din slots..

they make extension cables with plugs in japan but if it's not a hard job i may as well just make it myself...

Looks like the plugs that I have, but most of mine are plugged into something...

The brown one, I am pretty sure is just hanging unplugged and you will find a few of these under the dash area, I assume they were used during manufacture to test systems and ensure everything is working.

The other larger ones look like the climate control plugs but I have the factory Navi touchscreen unit so they might not all be used with the single din climate control unit, so that might be why you have so many spare?

The plug with the grey insulated wires running into it looks like the sat nav connections I have in mine.

Nissan would have run looms to cover all options during manufacture, so most cars would have some wiring that was never used for anything.

I hope that helps! I'd say if everything is working as it should then they are just extra looms that were not needed. All looks very familiar and factory but I could only be 100% if I pulled my dash unit out and looked...

Micah, worst case scenario I will get a mate to post some over from Japan. They are a bit on the pricey side (for a bit of wire and some plugs), thats why I'm just asking if anyone has done it themselves.

you dont need extension cables

it reaches

all you have ot do is drill new holes in teh metal brackets since the hole alignment is different

i was going to do it, but hten didnt have all the tools i needed, so i never got around to it

    • You just need to remove the compressor housing, not the entire turbo. I would not be drilling and tapping anything with the housing still on anyways. 
    • So, I put my boat on a boat. First of all, I'm going to come out and say it. Why is Tasmania not considered a holy goal, an apex that all road-legal modified cars go to, to experience? This place is an absolute wonderland of titanic proportions. If people are already getting club runs for once in a lifetime 30 person cruises to Tassy then I've never seemed to see it. It is like someone replaced the entire place with an idyllic wonderland for cars, and all of the people living there with paid actors who are kind, humble, and friendly. Dear god. After doing a lap of almost all of the place I've found that it's a great way to find out all of the little things that the car isn't doing quite right and a great way to figure it all out. All in all, I drove for 4 hours a day for a week and nothing broke. I didn't even need to open the engine bay. This is by all means a great success, but it has left me with a list of things to potentially address. I also now have a 3D printed wheel fitment tool which annoyingly hasn't got any threads in it to actually assemble it. I might be able to tape it together to check the sizing I actually want to use, but it'll likely involving pulling the shocks out to properly measure travel at least at the front, and probably raise the car while I'm at it, at least in the rear. I scraped on quite a few things and I'm not sure how else to go about it. I was taking anything with a bump at what felt like 89 degree angles. And address those 10 other tasks. And wash the car. God damn it is dirty. And somehow, the weather was perfect the entire time - And because I was on the top of Mt Wellington it turns out it was very much about to freeze up there. I did something I typically never do and took some photos up there in what must have been -10 and the foggy felt like suspended ice, rather than mere fog. If you own a car in Australia, you owe it to yourself to do it.

    • Saw this replica police car based on a Mitsubishi Starion XX parked next to a 'police box' (it's literally a box) in Hirohata, Himeji City in Hyogo prefecture the other day. It's owned by Morii-san who is a local Mitsubishi Starion enthusiast. According to a local radio station blog post, he always wanted to make a police car himself based on ones he saw in his favourite Manga comics.  As it's illegal to modify a car to look like a police car and drive on the road, Morii-san tried many times to get permission from Aboshi police station headquarters nearby. They refused initially by after they got tired of that they granted him permission. However, the car can only be displayed on private property and obviously can't be registered as long as the police livery is present. The car was completed at a cost of 1.5 million yen (US$ 10,000) in addition to the car cost. A location was chosen outside Hirohata Police box where the car can easily been seen from the street. Morii-san has two other Starion road cars, both widebody GSR-VRs.
