drift_sil80
ok well some newb on ns.com is running this poll and i think ns.com is very bias towards silvias so im just out to hopefully prove that a one model site will always favour the model its right is made for (i dont think that makes any sense but owell so hating silvia owners) dale_8888 I am starting to save for either a 180SX or an R32.Can people please give me the pros and cons of engines, setups and basic driftability? and heres the link to ns to see the replys Edited September 1, 2005 by drift_sil80 Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/86176-180sx-or-r32-skyline-gts-t/ Share on other sites
Sambo33
if i was to build a dedicated drifter i would most probably go with the S13. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/86176-180sx-or-r32-skyline-gts-t/#findComment-1558854 Share on other sites

drift_sil80
guess i better add i actually own a modified r32 skyline and have also had a sr 180 and i know i certainly prefer the 32 Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/86176-180sx-or-r32-skyline-gts-t/#findComment-1558874 Share on other sites
funkymonkey
hehe I posted in the NS thread too, so I won't go into detail 180sx with SR20 over R32 GTSt with RB20DET. 180sx is easier to control for beginners, has better balance, better response in lower rev ranges, and most importantly gives more performance gain per dollar spent on it compared to the R32. funkymonkey
lol you want the truth? you can't handle the truth! I've owned a 180 and a r32 and driven versions of both in various levels of modification from stock to "off its head" (perks of working for an importer/being involved in the import community). The truth is the 180sx is a better beast to learn to drift in. I mean, name all the high profile cars (or even amature ones) that drift and run on SR20's and then do the same for ones that run on RB20's. R32 shits all over the 180 in most other aspects though Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/86176-180sx-or-r32-skyline-gts-t/#findComment-1558960 Share on other sites
drift_sil80
R32 shits all over the 180 in most other aspects though yeah fine ill believe you even though in what ive had / driven its skyline all the way for me only point i can make i guess is mick taylor getting rid of his 180 for a rb powered ceffy woot woot rb powar now delete this shit before you embarass me more, and all i wanted to do was stick up for my skyline kelly mckinnon Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/86176-180sx-or-r32-skyline-gts-t/#findComment-1558979 Share on other sites
Guest tkch55
if you want a drift car then 180sx is the way to go it's lighter, power delivery's more linear than the rb20 but i'd choose the r32 anyway, bettere interior, the rb20 revs and most importantly, it's got traction the sound of the rb20, kicks sr20 and rb25's arses anyday but i'd suggest you to test drive both before you buy, after all it's personal preference and whatever suits their driving style i prefer the r32 but that doesn't mean other people do Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/86176-180sx-or-r32-skyline-gts-t/#findComment-1558999 Share on other sites
**JaR**
if you want a drift car then 180sx is the way to goit's lighter, power delivery's more linear than the rb20 but i'd choose the r32 anyway, bettere interior, the rb20 revs and most importantly, it's got traction the sound of the rb20, kicks sr20 and rb25's arses anyday but i'd suggest you to test drive both before you buy, after all it's personal preference and whatever suits their driving style i prefer the r32 but that doesn't mean other people do <{POST_SNAPBACK}> i tend to agree with most of that ( although where did Rb25 come into it??? lol ) im skyline mad...... but for a drifter i'd go the 180, they may not be pretty.... but the question is which is a better drifter not which is better looking yeah??? my 2 cents. nemz
r32's get sideways very easially but as said before 180sx has 50/50 weight i think or thereabouts and r32 have something like 60/40 Edited September 3, 2005 by nemz Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/86176-180sx-or-r32-skyline-gts-t/#findComment-1561822 Share on other sites
Guest tkch55
Hi JaR the reason why i mentioned the rb25 is caus i sold the r32 for a r33, and i guess i'm starting to miss the r32 rb25's brutal, and VERY torquey, but you can play around with the revs very easily with the rb20. don't get me wrong, rb25 has a smoother exhaust note which i like too, it's a bit quieter than the r32 and feels more refined but the r32's just got that bit more racey feel in it, despite the fact that it's bit slower in the straight each to their own, r33's definitely a great cruiser/tourer, but the r32's sportier 180sx? i'd say it's a fun car to drive Edited September 4, 2005 by tkch55 Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/86176-180sx-or-r32-skyline-gts-t/#findComment-1562672 Share on other sites
Frink
i'd say the 180sx would be the better drifter, having a more even weight spilt. the 32 would probably be better suited for time attack. (this is just a theoretical assumption). however, you could use both these cars for either application. But the R33 leaves em both for dead Edited September 6, 2005 by Frink Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/86176-180sx-or-r32-skyline-gts-t/#findComment-1567589 Share on other sites
Guest tkch55
yeah you're right.. i've owned an r32 and driven 180sx. the r32 is definitely good for time attack, but i guess if you dump an rb25 in it and it will drift nicely 180sx on the other hand is a born drifter. i could feel the rear tyres starting to step out a bit quite easily guess i'd be scared shitless if i have to drive that car in the rain r32 on the other hand will just stick to the road, but when it reaches its limit, it doesn't throw enough signs at you before you lose it, span out a couple of times in the r32, but i guess HICAS was probably the culprit but actually, i found the r33 to be a pretty good drifter too, courtesy of the torquey motor Edited September 6, 2005 by tkch55 Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/86176-180sx-or-r32-skyline-gts-t/#findComment-1567830 Share on other sites
zaffa
ok mate as a sttock ar 180 would prolly be better....but overall either car could be drifted the same depends on how good a driver u are....with a good suspension setup both are good rb has more top end and sr has more torque assuming it has lights mods...its up to you mate...if u wanna ask on an unbiased sit join secretdrift and ask...you wanted an unbiased opinion yet you've askedon a skyline site and a silvia...my pref is the 32 rbs are way cheaper to replace then sr's and in my opinion last longer...go the 32 mate...all the way...nice coilovers a two way and lights mods zoorst cooler cia and you'll be drifting like a champ if you can drive...good luck Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/86176-180sx-or-r32-skyline-gts-t/#findComment-1568006 Share on other sites
