might be getting a job in sydney soon so just wondering if any of you guys can answer a few questions.

the company is in the northern suburbs...whats a good low rent area around there to live?

is the cost of living really that high compared to melbourne?

Where abouts in the Northern subs? I live in the north because of my work and it is expensive but its all relative to what you earn and depends if or how far you want to travel to work. A one bedroom apartment will be around $800 a month, if yo cna find someone to share with it will be cheaper. I live with two mates in a three bedroom apartment and we pay about $480 a week together.

I was born in Melbourne but never paid rent there so I cant really help with a cost of living comparison. But Im pretty sure that Sydney is pretty expensive compared to most cities. The closer you get to the city the more you pay.

Hope that helps abit.

Depends where North. If you live in the Northern westish (of the coast) suburbs like Hornsby etc it's not prohibitively expensive (hornsby, horsnby heights, berowra, etc).

Northern Beaches isn't terrible either. 2 bedroom small unit will be around $200-250 a week with possibly one LUG. (dee why, narrabeen, colleroy etc)

Best bet is to hit domain.com.au or the other home rent/sell site which I can't remember and check it out.

Anyone who has mentioned prices without their suburbs is guessing pretty blindly since you haven't mentioned a suburb.

Finally "Northern suburbs" = Hills District or North Shore or Northern Beaches? They're all pretty different. If you tell us the suburb maybe we can suggest things better.

heh the northern suburbs is a bit shocking with the cost of rent averaging $350 - $420 per week for a 1 bedroom apartment. About $300 for a studio apartment. Prices start at $480 for a 2 bedroom place. These are Chatswood central prices so places get cheaper if they radiate into the smaller suburbs away from amenities. They get more expensive though if its got a view (North Sydney for example), and they get more expensive again if its one of the prestige suburbs (there's a lot of wanky suburbs north of the bridge).

You can find cheaper if you are willing to share accomodation or move into a less than perfect place you can get away with as low as $260 - $280 p/w. You may not find suitable parking at those cheaper locations though.

which areas are the cheapest ?

Mount Druitt , but you wouldn't want to live there ...

Sydney is more expensive than Melbourne , just add 20-25% to a compareable Melbourne property .

    • Don't even try to run it on the stock ECU if you're going to have the boost controller bring boost above ~10 psi. I've already told you that. If you use the Nistune ECU, you will need to CAREFULLY read the available documentation for Neo tuning, and read some threads on the Nistune forums, to discover the various things you have to do to prevent the ECU from going bananas when the boost is too high. The is a table associated with th boost sensor that must be modified to prevent it from shitting the bed. This is just one of the things that you will need to do to the tune in Nistune, because the Neo turbo ECU will be expecting to see a number of things (such as the TCS) that are not there, and you have to block the DTCs on those. It is totally not surprising to me that you are having the problems that you are, but the solutions to these problems have been known for >15 years. So just get it done.
    • Hi. Sry iam not a mechanic and iam not at the car atm so i dont know 100% but they told they measure those and even try to change those. AFM they have two. Coils are new a they have my old one too. Plugs too. ECU...we have 25 NEO stock and Nistune 25 NEO.   But i dont know if any one those could be the problem and why/if/what can cause this, Only thing they did not check is fuel...but that walbro 255 is new(like 1,5 years)... That fuel pressure gauge idk...but i let them know Any suggestions?   EDIT: how can they know if it is like you say he ECU pull power when it reaches a specific boost level that is too high? Tha car has boost controler
    • Can you clarify what you mean by boost cut, do you mean it misfires both when under load (driving) and when stationary and out of gear? Or does the ECU pull power when it reaches a specific boost level that is too high (boost control issue)? Does it occur at idle with no throttle? When you say "the ECU is OK", what ECU is it and why do you think it is OK? Have you used the NEO ECU, and if so do you have a MAP sensor attached? Same for the AFM, why do you think it is OK? Do you have any way to put a fuel pressure gauge on it (even just a mechanical one between the fuel filter and fuel rail)?
    • Hi.. Just another problem. So maybe you can help. I(my mechanic) done swap from my RB20DE NEO to RB25DET NEO. Everything is OK but we have a boost cut. Coils/Plugs are ok...AFM is ok. ECU is ok. I have Walbro 255 but it "changed" sound few months ago(you can hear it ouside) you did not hear that when it was new(maybe faulty?) Sooo...what now? What can cause this boost cut? It is even when you standing still...
