Hello all,

I'm currently trying to sell a mint condition R32 GTST and I was wondering what methods some of you have used to find that ellusive buyer!!

So far its on this forum,

the nissan silvia forum

and the trading post last week.

IS there anyone that has sold a car in some unusual but successful marketing stratergy??

Carsales..?

my car is on carsales and car guide...both great value

carsales is $10, and the ad stays on until the car is sold, or when you say that its sold etc..

carsguide was free, takes more pics (6 v 5) and all you have to do is update it within a certain period, and it stays listed

The price you post will determine how quickly it sells. Most buyers are tight and if your car is genuinely mint they're gonna want it for a bomb price.

Also be prepared for morons who know nothing. I had a guy try and tell me Nissan sold R33s here in Australia.

/\/\ Agreeed, alot of tightwads and knobs, if your car is cheap it will help sell.

Ive also had someting similiar happen, a guy wanted to buy my 180sx and was dead keen but then he found out it had an SR he said he didnt want it cos it didnt have the factory 6cyl in it ;)

did you end up selling yours Paul?

forums can sometimes work but ive found that most people off forums who come to have a look at the car, dont have any money and also just want to come and have a closer look and drive the car so they can then comment on them on the forums. That and they dont know actual facts about the cars and go on here say on what they have read on the forums. As i had the other day. from an ns.com member.

i have found carsales and carpoint to be the most effective for genuinly interested buyers, with the money to spend.

As of yesterday, my car is sold....

mark 1 point down for car sales

Mark down an extra 1 point for carsales. As of tonight my Exa is sold.

P.S sold my last car on carsales within 1 week too.. Wasn't price too cheap either.

Greg

I just had some dude try to offer me a rediculous price for my skyline. I actually got quite offended and laughed at him and he ends up calling me a "dik".

I just can't stand people like that. I was going to do him a favour by selling him a good car but instead he turns round and calls me names when he does not get what he wants. Its actually not easy to sell a car especially a R33.

carsales clear in the lead on 2 points now lol

how long till ur 32 is here and ready to go

10 days :D

r32 with Rb25, td06, etc. etc. etc. etc. mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

P plater friendly? probably not...

Chan - These things happen. I was thinking of all the time wasters I had come look at my car and I couldn't believe it. I feel sorry for all you guys selling boosted cars that are 15k+.

Greg

    • I seem to the be only person that is using a Haltech 2500 on an NA motor, I've installed a Bosch DBW throttle body to the OEM intake manifold and am having problems maintaining AFR even with the wideband o2.  It will run extremely rich at idle and up to redline, but under load it will go extremely lean in the 20s and i'm essentially having to rev it over 4k and feather the clutch to get it up to speed.  I've read a few other threads of about the butterfly, it seems removing the vacuum to it is supposed to have it remain open, i've noticed no difference under 4k with the vacuum line to it plugged.  I'm hoping someone here has had luck using the NA manifold with Haltech, and if they happen to have a tune for it.
    • I don't know any details, but I really wouldn't be surprised if they do it as a LHD only version, at least initially.
    • Thanks for the replies everyone. Definitely a coolant push. Oil catch can is empty and always has been. As the engine is out now I'll be having a good look over things. I do have some detonation on the piston tops from a trigger issue back about 5 years ago. I felt it and shut off then bought a new ecu and changed the trigger. Never been an issue since. It never hurt the power, its made almost 80hp more since that incident but I will pull the bearing caps to take a look. If the bearings are damaged I will do a bottom end refresh. Head is being re conditioned at the moment and the block will be cleaned and checked to ensure it's flat. I'll go with a kameari gasket and see how it ends up. The other thing I'm not super keen on is the cylinder colours. I suspect this is from the inlet manifold. The plan will be to put it back together, retune and then stick a plazmaman billet inlet on it and retune. I'm happy with the power, if it makes a little more, then great, but I would rather just make everything more efficient at this stage.
    • Maybe they'll look to do a bunch of presales to help inject some cash fast for their financial issues...
    • Does it also misfire equally when revving?   Josh is very correct in what you should do. The coilpack harness wiring loom itself is a known problem due to its age and the number of heat cycles it has gone through. Throwing parts at a vehicle to diagnose the issue isn't a smart or good way to do it. Secondly, you may have a bad coil pack, you pop replacements in, they fix that issue, but messing with the harness breaks it, so the issue persists. So now you think "well it wasn't the coil packs" and have to continue chasing your tail, potentially swapping back in your shit coil packs and returning the good ones (yes, I've seen people do this because 'it wasn't the problem' and they want to save money). And suddenly, you've got two issues with the same symptoms...   Diagnose, don't use the spare parts shotgun.
