My wife ordered some carboard boxes (called 'Dan-boh-ru' in Japanese...) and there was this 'Power Builder Bee Racing' piece of card under the plastic straps to protect the boxes from ripping etc... of all the places...

A pic of the Moon and Venus at dusk in Ashiya, I took it a few days ago. Thats only a 3x zoom with a Canon IXY 500.

drift.jpg

I went to the Nanko street drifting a few weeks back and took this pic of SAU member 'Gojira's car... the R32 is at the back (no I didn't have a go at drifting).

Japanese holiday 'Obon' fireworks on the Yodo river in Osaka. About 2 million people were along the river and surronding areas to watch that night. Taken about 3 weeks ago.

If you've been to Japan and you don't know Ka-ru Ojisan, you should be sent to bed without dinner!

At first I thought C-West had gone under, but they're just refurbishing their Nishinomiya Service Garage.

If you ever wondered what a SuperAutobacs garage looks like, well here it is... with my Silvia getting the front coilovers changed and big camber dialled in (and white AVS VS-6 wheels put back on)...

... went out into the parking lot while waiting and saw this:

My missus got a new laptop:

I noticed that Japanese laptops have 'Characters' floating around the screen... you have to look after them. This one is called 'Para-chan' an it's a baby seal (boy).

Here he's asking: "Have you been using the Schedule function?"

Thats all for now :P

Thanks mate

Some pics of Sakura (cherry blossoms) I took earlier in the year around April or so. They only bloom like this (in this area - the blooming starts from Kyushu then moves north up throughuot Japan) for a week or two then look just like normal trees for the rest of the year...

... another streetscape.

You see? Ricey car mods DO exist in Japan! It's a Mitsubishi Legnum.

This is Itami Airport, Osakas northern Domestic terminal. Actually, it was Osakas old International terminal before Kansai International was built 10 years or so ago.

Some driving shots, going down Route 43 (night) and Hanshin Kousoku Wangan-sen (Hanshin Bayside Expressway). It's not always that empty, but between speed camera locations you can average 150 - 180km/h (damn speed limiter!) if it's quiet.

wtf kind of parking is that in the last sakura picture?

It a really old corner house, maybe 60+ years old, and thats the only space for a car on the 'block'... I say block but the whole house would be on a pad of say 8m x 10m

lovely photos justin. i am sure you will miss japan quite badly. is your wife coming with you to aus?

i know i will miss your pics, but i will take plenty of my own in january when i go back.

OMG. Its Clippy's Japanese cousin ;)

I love this little insights in to peoples lives/world. In some ways these more mundane things are the most interesting.

    • The issue now is the 'fuel cut' while driving, and when it happend, it does not stall. This, I did not test the fuel pressure while driving as I cannot with a fuel pressure gauge. I do have Nistune logs, yes. I have also replaced the MAF Sensor.   Also related to the FPG Fuel Hanger – I just realized that I need a Deutsch Crimp Tool to crimp some cables for the FPG Fuel Hanger. Need to purchase additional cables as the kit only included 2, which are for the float. FPG has not responded to my emails so far since purchasing. I thought about taking it to someone and having it done professionally, but I am reluctant since everyone I took it to messed up in some way.
    • There's a good German place in Brisbane if youre up for the drive 😛
    • The German place in Cabramatta was rock solid, fresh pretzel cooked to order back then. Then it went all quiet, after all the poker machines were removed, then I believe it closed for good. I did drive past the other week and noticed outdoor lighting a big screen, but no idea what is there now.
    • Yeah I suspect even if you hold airmass per cycle/cylinder constant if you get too far away from stock you're still going to have problems running the factory tune within the bounds of the factory load scale. Cams, different displacement/rod ratio, etc. I'm just lucky that the GTIII-SS with wastegate boost + CA compliance cats is pretty much equivalent to stock turbos. When I have actual space I can finally get it tuned and modify the fuel system for flex fuel to 100% handle any detonation concerns when cranking the boost to whatever those dinky turbos can put out.
    • I would say no, why, because my daughter, who also lives in Goulburn, hasn't recommended us going there Pity, as we miss all the German joints around in Sydney, actually, the restaurants are the only thing I really miss about Sydney, and a special mention to Ishibanboshi at Bondi Junction, their Kara-age Don is heart cloggingly deliciousness (always added a special boiled egg...or 2) 😋
