Hey guys, just got a quick question

Quickest time last night was 11.9 @ 114.5 mph.

That mph seems a bit low. I ran a 118 previously. Anyone have any ideas? I think i actually dropped (accidentally) the boost level to 1.2 bar or lower for this run.

Was that your highest mph for the night...?

When did you run the 118 mph with what setup...?

You gained 3 mph compared to a run with 313 awkw..?

Is your clutch healthy...?

highest mph was 117.5mph

I ran that with the same setup but different tune.

I gained 3 mph compared to my quickest run with crd's tune (306awkw)

My clutch is brand new and doesnt slip

I lost mph through the night once i started 'adjusting' my boost controller

Gee theres a lot of people in this thread?

Righto, i was bit confused there. :P

So your best mph with 306 awkw is 114.x mph.

Your best mph with Bell tune which you think is 32x awkw is 117 mph.

FYI, 117 mph has been done by many with stock turbos and 260 rwkw.

My best with that power is 116 mph with 1700 kgs racing weight.

No stirring ot bragging is intended.

Yeah, thats me

Makes you feel warm and fuzzy inside eh? :P

In regards to my tune those who brought it up, I'll be having it QA'd back at BEL again shortly, to ensure that everything is in line. I've a feeling as blk180 said the exhaust was restricting it and now that I've changed that I've a feeling it does need to be tuned to suit.

Congrats on a 11 TommyK good to hear....

Ahh...so the green TO4z-ified BNR32 is Morgs'...

Apparently our 2 cars are the most powerful cars that have ever been on Jason's dyno.

Great to see you and Jerry at the drags last night Tommyk, we'll have to organise a night in the near future for SAU as I'd love to race a couple of these big power GTR's

That would be good and see if we can get a few more gtrs there as well . By the way my car DOES not have big power , actualy its fairly stock , Just the baby gtss's ,( to scared to keep the stockers ) power f/c and a small bore ( barely 3") exhaust .

Everything else is stock .

Emre,

Im not quoting any kw figures here. I'm comparing my previous 1/4 TS to my current quickest TS. Based on the same equipment in the car. I dont know how many kw my car has, and i dont care.

Once i have the boost properly configured to hit 1.3 bar, I will have another few runs and see how we go. But based upon what i saw:

My 60 ft time on the 11.9 was 1.8

My best 60ft time was 1.72, which was done with more boost

My quickest mph with 1.2-1.25 bar boost was 117.5mph.

If i can do a 11.9 @ 114.5 mph, then if i launch with a 60ft time of 1.72 @ run 118-119 mph, i should be down to 11.6 ?

Geez im cluttering up this thread. Sorry Ben

I think what Tommyk is trying to say is that he has no idea how much power the car has now (or before), but it is reasonable to assume that it has 30hp more than it had before.

Damn most people dream of upgraded HKS turbos, new ecu and exhaust, the car is far from stock :P any other mods are really only for peace of mind rather then power anyway

Hey Bu5ter, I hear you've got a new setup in your car with a new computer, turbo and dump pipe? Are you going to Bell and see the difference with the old times you ran? I suppose with such small changes you wouldn't be hoping for much of a gain over you're old high 11, which I personally think you fluked. Timing lights were on the blink or something...

The reason i went the gtss's is because i wanted to retain a responsive car. The 34 r's are very responsive with the stockers and i could have about the same power with them but wasnt game to keep them just in case they let go and then take the donk with them too .

If i wanted power , i would go much bigger turbos and some cams , dumps , bigger bore exhaust , airflow meters , injectors , fuel , pump and even more .

My car would only make about 230 awkw but thats how i like it !!

TommyK I'm Glad you got what you wanted from BEL :) Ben is a top guy and had my car moving!!!!

The whole reason for this thread and the info I have tried to put out in an un-biased way is that there is more than 1 way to skin a cat!

I went to CRD and got the CAM timing that I knew would have a gain in my particular case (rebuilt motor with poncoms etc etc) ....

At this stage Ben doesn't do cam timing, as the dyno room and dyno are not complete (not for a lack of trying mind you!!!!)

I am sure as I am alive that with time, and more GT-Rs through the shop, they will also be able to eek out the idiosyncrastic ways of the RB26 engine as has CRD... its all about time with your head over an engine bay in a dyno so to speak....

Even now I am interstate I will be keeping a close eye on the whole NSW GT-R scene ;) as it is were the passion is :):)

Marko.....

when I am back for work, you will have to take me for a spin :O

Morgs.....

get it to the track son!

okbye

    • I dunno about that as a blanket statement. Pitwork is Nissan's "Nissan genuine" thing, and for stuff like timing belts, I have found them to be excellent. Of course, for things like oil filters, you always use proper trusted brands anyway, not whatever the OEM has taken to using.
    • Ahhhh... If you were putting 12V to the led in there, that's likely made it very unhappy. Chances are how you put power, was 12V across an LED that's meant to only have about 20mA through it at peak, and a forward voltage of about 1.8 to 2.4 volts. That circuit is likely only a 3V3 circuit, and will have a resistor in series with the led too. That's my guesstimate on that light, without having touched one.
    • Another vote for installing them and see how you go.  I mean, you already own them, why would you not fit them?
    • I have had too many of those over the years, my cars have a toolkit or at minimum a cheapy multi tool thing because its too easy to be snookered by some stupid plastic clip that stops you checking the battery terminal isn't loose.
    • Basically, if there is a part# on the nissan catalogue, it is a genuine part. There is a thing called "new old stock" which is stuff made years ago but never sold (or landfilled), but it is super hit and miss what you can buy. Other than some expensive Nismo stuff there is nothing new being made that suits these cars. The only time to be a little careful is (mostly in the US I think, but maybe Japan too), Nissan started rebranding some cheap crap maintenance parts like oil filters as "Pitworks"; stay away from them, if you are buying cheap just buy whatever the local car parts shop carries The three part numbers have an explanation on Amayama: 0V005 is auto, base style 0V015 is manual 0V505 is auto, hectic momo branded ones, maximum F&F points there!
