had a visit from the guy who bought my old mans mustang today. was great to hear the 351 sound again.

i hear the mclaren mercedes slr is supposed to sound pretty amazing. only ever heard it on videos. sounds like a spitfire.

lmao @ vl turbo

when i was about 10-11 my dad took me to a car show and i was lucky enough to go for a little spin in an old ferrari, not exactly sure of the model.

to this day i am yet to hear anything come close to the sweet sound of this thing revving out, was amazing and definately got me addicted to cars.

"Well hello Hotpants. I don't suppose you got a licence tucked down there somewhere now do ya?"

"You are gonna take the shortcut to the interstate ain't ya?"

"If you're gonna be a bear....BE A GRIZZZLEH!!"

Love It!!

Canard.

Aids downforce.

The amount of helium in the boobs of the chicks driving it needs to be kept on the highway :O

BTW: For mine, it's the Maserati 3400GT - in any of it's guises.

That quad-exhaust V8 just sounds so sweet - even under mild acceleration.

As for buying one... I'm sure I could think of many other ways to part with 250 gorillas.

They can continue to overtake me and sound nice doing so.

+1

My brother an i went halvies in a 65 Impala with a 427. I have to say, it sounded tuff. There is a white 64 Vette across the road from work, every time it fires up run to the window. So basically old school carbie V8s with nice pipes etc

Gotta love the old school big blocks with lumps cams. Even at idle they sound sweet especially when the whole car shakes while idling.

Me and a friend bough a 454 a few years ago, 7 or so, with the intention of putting it into a 57 or 58 chev but ran out of cash so sold the motor.

So many choices. Couldn't put it down to one, so my choice for notes I've heard lately was a toss up between a new 645ci (V8) or an SL55 roadster - geez those mechanics/salesman at Mercedes give them a booting. Prob say the SL55 just outshone.

They both sounded a little like a 302 XB Falcon!

What I do HATE (& I mean hate!) or those knuckleheads who rev the beejesus outta their loud as Harleys down a street. Where is Poptart & his emissions laws when these guys are around?

    • Thanks for doing that Duncan! Makes you a good person in my books. We don't get kangaroos or wombats here. But we have bats and it's similar. AFAIK it's often the mums with a baby attached that get hit because they drop lower when starting from a tree. If you hit an animal, check on it. https://www.ifaw.org/au/resources/wildlife-rescue-app An app to get the closest wildlife rescue contact.
    • My dream is also to have a proper hoist, but I don't think it will ever happen. My quickjack is probably as close as I'll ever get, it really is very good though.
    • Yeah we keep on in the dailies, it is pretty poor how many animals get hit and the driver leaves without checking....have saved a couple of little ones over the years. Bit of a gruesome job though, pouches generally need to be cut open because they are so tight and often the joey doesn't realise mum is gone so they are still locked onto the teat. I checked the modules in front of the DS wheel where an oil cooler should go.... There is the radar unit - that can go for race use) One of the 2 HX water pumps, the silver cylinder. That needs to be kept but might be able to be relocated But the bad news, the big computer mounted vertically in front of the wheel (blocking any potential air exit) is the electric steering computer. That is required until/unless i do a hydraulic steering conversion, and in CAD based modern car design it is not like I can just pop a big unit like that somewhere else (plus the loom would be too short anywhere else too). So, the passenger side is OK to clear out (just use a smaller washer reservoir, potentially elsewhere), but the DS no beuno
    • Well, all the best with the new camry It was interesting to hear about the UK process, it is generally a lot more streamlined here with a shipping agent looking after all the import side (noting the exact final price can still be a surprise.....) and I've used a few different brokers on the japan (or US) side, and never had any trouble with any of them....luck of the draw I guess. You mentioned you didn't get the auction sheet (understandable since you bought it from a dealer, not auction), but I always try and get hold of that because they are pretty thorough. I've imported 2x R grade vehicles over the years and both were fine, repairs in Japan are pretty thorough compared to here in Oz.
    • BTW I measured the jack I have, it is 70mm at the saddle but you only have about 700 until it returns to 150mm high at the cylinder so it is good but no magic bullet.
