I had a Toshi chip put in & it made decent difference between 3800-7000. Felt stronger & more responsive. It was $250 for the chip fitted to your ECU or $350 to by a chipped ECU outright. What you get out of it depends on what mods you have to an extent. Mine's just got an RB25 turbo, 3in turbo back exhaust, filter & R33 GTR fuel pump.

Can anyone recomend a good place in Sydney that can do a rom tune on a RB20?

Im also keen to get some tuning done. Not that i dont trust toshi, and ive read the reviews in his posts many times but it just worries me that he doesnt do any tuning on the dyno or road...... I know you have to inform him of mods you've made to your car but each mods will change depending on the health of the individual engine and what products you use etc...

also i take it that toshi takes of the speed and boost limiter??? does anyone know what the factory boost limit is????

confused.

:D

Toshi will make a chip based on the info you give him. Then he hooks up his laptop & a Lambda sensor to your car for a road test. Checks boost/AFR/ingnition maps you have. Then he'll demonstate the chip he's made by putting his ECU with your modded chip in and doing the same test.

With the chipped ECU he can then use the laptop as per a fully programmable ECU to adjust ignition & fuel maps until you are happy with it. He can then make a new chip to suit if required. It took a couple hours all up for me.

He has all the equipment to perform this on the road but I'm sure if you wanted to book some dyno time instead he'd be happy to. & yes speed & boost cuts are removed.

Best to talk to him about it on yuna at tpg.com.au

He is japanese so his english can take some getting used to on email/phone though... :D

Thanks for clearing that up!!!!

when i get my front mount its on!!!!!

I haven't had it dynoed since but he seemed to think it had similar 'seat of the pants' feel to 170rwkw R32's he'd been in. Not much really but my car is pretty long in the tooth both in km's & years so thats fine by me.

    • Does it also misfire equally when revving?   Josh is very correct in what you should do. The coilpack harness wiring loom itself is a known problem due to its age and the number of heat cycles it has gone through. Throwing parts at a vehicle to diagnose the issue isn't a smart or good way to do it. Secondly, you may have a bad coil pack, you pop replacements in, they fix that issue, but messing with the harness breaks it, so the issue persists. So now you think "well it wasn't the coil packs" and have to continue chasing your tail, potentially swapping back in your shit coil packs and returning the good ones (yes, I've seen people do this because 'it wasn't the problem' and they want to save money). And suddenly, you've got two issues with the same symptoms...   Diagnose, don't use the spare parts shotgun.
