The quality of the cars at last years extreme HP show was a lot higher than this years Autosallon.

There is a good mix of imports, US and Aust muscle cars and hot rods. There are a lot of dedicated show cars there (with painted chromed undercarages etc) as well as a lot of high quality daily drivers. I entered my car last year and had good weekend, but I was never in the running for a trophy (if thats what you are after)

I'm entering the show for the Dyno comp as I've always wanted to have a go in one.

There was a pretty good mix of cars in the show last year too.

Keep an eye out for my big, ugly blue Toyota Crown. With 2 screamer pipes and an open 4 inch exhaust it should make a fair bit of noise inside the pavillion. :P

My car will be fresh out of M&C Doyle with a tits bodykit. The only problem is that now my 18s look small. I will need to buy a set of spacers or borrow a larger set of rims for the show.

I took out my boost controller though and have not yet bought another one, so there's not much point putting my car on the dyno. It's making about 170 RWKW on stock boost at the moment.

I'd be keen to join the club display though. Send more information.

9krpm - im fairly sure that your car would have to be apart of the show to enter the dyno run.

wwwdot - do you have any other cars besides yours which is a definate to be in the show. how many are you actually after?

Do you have to put the car in the show if you want to just enter the dyno comp?

Hi mate, I asked the same question when I called the organisers, and yes, you have to enter the show. However, you don't have to be judged ("Display Only").

It's costing me $45 to enter and $20 for the dyno comp. You also get 2 passes to the show and a couple of T-shirts, so it's not too bad really. My car is FAR from a show vehicle-it's built for a prupose-but they had no problem with that.

Cheers

Sean

MS-75 I love your car.

Got to be one of the best surprise packages out there.

I remember seeing the reaction to it at the Jazmac dyno day.

It's pure gold.

Thanks for the compliment chops. One of the things I enjoy most about the car is the source of amusement it is for others. I myself love seeing stuff that's unique/bizarre.

Since you saw it at Jazmac it's changed a fair but. It's now got 12 injectors (2 per cyl, 440+550cc), 2 new wastegates, new boost control, custom plenum on a 100 Series Landcruiser stub manifold with 2 separate fuel rails and an 1100hp GT42. It's now making a LOT more HP than before. The engine is still inernally stock, but I'll get to that sometime.

Feel fee to come and have a good look at the show. I'll be in a back corner somewhere as I'm really only going for the Dyno comp.

See you there mate

Sean

    • Its a 2002 vr-x four VQ25DET, silver. Coil overs, lowered, polished alloys and sport exhaust. Bit of a project, was sitting in a shed for a while but runs and drives great.
    • I wasn’t able to replicate the sound anymore. It was a one time sound so maybe it was just coincidence but it was like small pebbles being dropped in a coke can.   should I try cleaning the MAF? It could be it’s functioning but dirty? I don’t know.
    • Update 4: Hi all. The car drives again! Haven't driven for long, only to store it in the garage again, but the test drive was successful. The coolant and oil leaks seem to be fixed for now. Temps on the engine were also very good, while moving I never even saw 80C water during the approx. 30 minute drive. Ate up all the coolant in the reservoir though so will have to fill that even more when I go to the car next time. One thing that pisses me off is that the RPM gauge is still f**ked, I even resoldered the board twice and used copper paste on the silly screws that are used as connections. Next time I take it out I'll take apart the board and fit new components, I'll see if I can get a replacement IC for it.  I have an appointment set for 22nd of September for the engine tune to 370hp. Alignment also still needs to be done. My hope is that I can get all the legal stuff over with by the end of this season. Anyone of you have advice regarding intercoolers? Currently there is an APEXI core fitted, one of those weird hybrid ones, 600x270x76. I don't think it's bad but it's not new and now I still have the chance to change it now to legally include it in the paperwork. Only issue is that the only options that would arrive in time are a HKS Type R intercooler or generic Ebay spec intercoolers comparable to a JustJap one. Ideally I'd order a Plazmaman but it takes over a month to receive which would mean making the car legal has to wait until next season. Would love to hear some input on this. Same story for my injectors, the previous owner was a nunce and put ID 1050x on the engine. They work but are obviously not ideal at "normal" power levels. But I don't see a reason to change them unless the tuner says it's necessary. I read online before buying a different exhaust that the top secret style rear diffusers won't fit due to the size of the rear resonators. My buddy and I made it work by slightly "adjusting the shape" of the mounting bracket and making some spacers out of 3d print for the mounting bolts. Fits like a charm. Just putting this here in case someone has this problem. Even the hefty HKS Silent Hi Power rear can fits without hitting anything.
