Hi all,

I thought it was time to throw a thread up to see who is planning on attending TAS 06'?

I will be over there with Beer Baron and RBNT by the looks of it

Organising an SAU meet at TAS is a waste of time from my past experience but if a number of people are around at that time then a night on the town could be in order.

Nick

yeah i'm not too keen on organising any big group meet ups etc. But i guess i could be up for a dinner one night or something like that?

EDIT: TAS will be so very sweet. can't wait.

I want to go this year also, but is it worth it?

I got the feeling this year that the tuning part of the show is going down.Becomes more show and shine.

Same old democars being shown

DCD probaly have some input on the state of tuners etc?

I asked myself the same question 2 years ago...

IMO once you've seen one R34 GT-R with widebody kit, 20x13" wheels, 1200hp engine, carbon everything and 3 half naked J-girls crawling over it... you've seen it all :D

In fact, the standard of the rest of the world (EU, US, AU and more or less Canada, UAE and NZ) has caught up so much in the last 3 years that I believe that the Japanese are finding it harder and harder to stand out... it's not 1996 anymore...

I honestly believe the old days of Japan hype and all that goes with it will come to an ABRUPT END when 3 Fast 3 Furious is released, and a new generation of 16 year old American kids make it totally uncool to like anything about Japan. It's over.

LOL

that is not so expensive if it includes airfare, taxes, travel insurance, rail pass, accomodation. if it doesn't include all of those things then it's possibly just a tad pricey.

that includes everything, i thought it was a reasonable package.

includes accomodation in a 3.5 star hotel too.

Where are you staying Richard/Nick same as Tas05?

If I go this year I am not staying in central Tokyo.

Took a bloody hour+ to get to Makuhari and tuners in January.

yeah mate, we will be in the same spot as last year for the TAS portion of our trip, and staying in Tokyo for the rest. :)

I dunno... car shows are errrm car shows.

If you ask me cars are meant to be driven and seeing all these cool cars just sitting there doing bugger all is as bad as a hot stripper you cant f*ck.

Maybe Im missing the point but I think track days/comps are where its at :)

    • Admittedly in that screenshot its doing about 13psi but later on in the log theres definitely spikes to 16. What is missing though is the massive peak, then a big drop and then a recovery. While it does go a little higher than I would like on base pressure, I think it's reasonably safe to assume that boost control via the mac valve should be a lot easier to control from here on out. I wasn't game to hook up the mac valve today as it's very wet and it's on the verge of fighting traction as it is.
    • I think this is still wrong. There is something crappy with wastegate priority (or the f**king absence of it) if you can't get below nearly double the base spring pressure. But if you're happy with what you've got, upload skid vids now.
    • So a further update for this one. Turbosmart were very gracious and took one look at the wastegate and said this is our original version, we will just replace the entire thing and send it back to you. So I fitted the new wastegate with its new revisions and took it around the block on spring pressure (9 psi spring). Appears the minimum it will do is about 16psi. Keep in mind this is only 2nd and 3rd gear pulls. I think the issue is fixed compared to what it was doing before however I'm happy to provide more logs if anyone thinks theres more to the story to uncover
    • Surely, if you have the indicator in hand and a pair of verniers, you can measure it up and draw your own cut template? I mean, it's got to pretty clear what has to pass through the hole, what has to sit on the outside face of the hole, and what has to be able to pass through and perhaps clip into place on the back side.
    • Man, I hope this one gets finished  i just randomly remembered it the other day and thought I’d check in.
