Looking around for a manifold at the moment. Someone mentioned having a look at the ones on the justjap site. Never heard anything about them so I was just wondering if people around here have used them and what they thought of the quality. Or are these like those ebay ones you see all over the place?

I have asked for the pipe wall thickness and some pics of inside the collecteor as this pic doesn't really show me much.

I brought my car and heaps of stuff off them. Darron and Tony will always help you with things you need for your car . Justjap carry a large supply of new and used parts.

I Purchased one of these off ebay. The one i got looks exactly the same as this unit - same design etc..

Issues that i have had so far -

1: The flange that the turbo bolts onto had to be chopped off and welded back on in a different angle as the exaust housing was hitting the head when i tried to bolt on the GT3540 turbo

2: there was excess dags and welding waste in the pipes - 2 big pieces of metel fell of as soon as we hit it with a dy grinder which would have destroyed my turbo straight away.

3: one of the middle studs had to be cut to half length because it hits the middle runner

4: if you look close you can see that number 6 would run really close to the firewall and it does - you can barely fit a 2.5" dump between the firewall and the pipes and you would have to bend it over closer to the side of the car which in my case R33 it will be close to the ABS pipes and we dont think we can fit a 3" pipe through there because there is air conditioner gear there also.

5: All the surfaces had to be machined.

6: The studs that bolt the turbo were not staight and we had to bash them into place because the turbo wouldnt even bolt on properly.

We spent 10 hours on the manifold - starting to wish i spent the extra $600 and got something that did not need soo much time and effort.

Not 100% sure these are the SAME manifold but it is definatly the same design as the one I have. Here is a url to check out some pics.

are you sure this is the same as the ebay ones as the ebay ones look to be a different design to me... they only have a single pipe from the collecter for the wastegate, where as this has 2 pipes from the collecter merging into one. pipes merge into collecter differently

they have a 2 bolt flange for wastegate, where as this has 4

the overall pipe shape is different on one of these 2 an ebay one.

these are the ebay ones i'm talking about and haven't seen ones that look like the one I displayed yetb3_1_b.JPG

Guilt Toy: In the interests of avoiding confusion, and considering you didnt buy your manifold from Just Jap nor can you be sure of what you are saying, please edit your post, the manifold you are referring to is one of the ultra cheap poor quality manifolds floating about on ebay, and clearly not the same as the high quality units Just Jap are selling.

The manifold does look very very similar. I was sure they are the same design because they look the same. I know mine is a cheapie from ebay which is why it needed soo much fixing and im sure the one from Just Jap does not need any cleaning or modding to fit properly. That was my experience with them.

there is many differences, they are not that similar.

Just to let you know that i bought a manifold for my RB26 from GCG Turbos that looks EXACTLY the same as the 'two into one' wastegate pipe one pictured above. It cost me $600 i think and is of excellent quality; 304 grade stainless, almost 3mm thick too. The only difference is that mine had no wastegate flange so i could put a Tial item on. It had a T4 flange so i bought a T4 to T3 adapter which was $100 and is CNC machined.

I havent finnished my build yet, so i cant tell you how it performs, but a fabricator i trust said that its of excellent quality and he cant believe i got it for that price. He said i wont have any sagging problems, but i braced it just in case.

If the Just Jap ones are the same, theyll be good quality. Maybe drop into GCG and compare.

If you do a search in the Forced induction section under "What do you think of my high mount turbo set up?" (or something like that), you should find a few pictures of my manifold on my engine.

Shaun.

PS How much are the Just Jap ones?

cheers for the reply shaun, they are $550 which is why i'm interested, but if they are not good quality i'd rather spend $900, I hate shitty parts. But I am starting to run low on funds for the car so thats why i'm looking around at ready made manifolds.

Hopefully they can supply me with collector pics and some more info as the site doesn't list a damn thing

As long as theyre thick walled and made out of good stainless they will be fine. The welds look awesome so i cant imagine that the collector would be full of dags or anything.

Im like you; i hate shitty parts and i didnt want to spend 15 grand on an engine and turbo and have a shit manifold, so i spent heaps of time looking around and eventually settled on one that looks extremely similar to the one you showed. Ill try to get a pic of mine up here so you can see.

    • What 1.5 way? There's no such thing really as a 1.5 way, just different ways of explaining 2 ways with different ramp rates. HOWEVER. In any driving in a straight line your 1.5 or 2 or 1.7 way should have no clunking at all. With the clutch fully depressed the diff should be silent (unless it's welded but I'm assuming it's not). Something aint right here.
    • Clutch is a spec brand, new clutch system,( PP, flywheel, friction disc, etc. pull type) installed 100 miles ago, with no problems.
    • looking for some help and maybe some insight on others experience with a new LSD. R34 GT ran and drove beautifully, but always alot of grip loss due to the open R200 rear end, so I just installed a new 1.5 LSD way into the stock open R200 for a ER34. Simple. Everything seemed right. I test drove for the first time this weekend. as I started to back out the garage the first time slowly with tires straight it sounded and felt like I had a loose or half disconnected drive shaft...that was clucking around loose and shaking entire vehicle, and making it feel like the trans clutch was spontaneously slipping then grabbing very roughly while just letting out pedal slowly. I backed it out went to pull forward with the same noise, shake and slip grab feeling with hesitation, I turned the tires to back out more and then pulled ahead some same thing but worst because of added wheel resistance (which that I expected) puzzled … pulling it back in checking everything over and finding nothing wrong, I tried it the next day. same thing, couldn’t believe how it shook everything again making a terrible noise and making it feel like the trans clutch was slipping and grabbing, but I got it out of garage into the driveway, got it straight, drove forward and then reveres a few times in a straight line everything shaking , causing what felt like clutch slip and grab every time, sounded like right behind front driver tire and I could feel it in the floor board with my feet,... worst right when beginning to let clutch pedal out to engage slightly, shuttering and sounding terrible along the way…I managed to slowly get down the road, babying it the whole way, once I was rolling (out of 1st) seemed to be better and between shifts, then clutch felt closer to normal…not slip/ grab etc., but back down to any stop, straight road or turning, same thing. Made no difference if all tires were straight or if I was turning. All other gauge read out correct. with in 2 miles as planned I reached the empty parking lot and performed the break in procedure that came with lsd, essentially to drive in a figure 8 a bunch.  Did this, binding chattering, and shaking the car the whole way. I drove it back home seemed somewhat normal once I was in straight line and past 10 mph or so, and I know it will “bind” on corners and cause some tires squeal when turning especially from a stop, but when I begin to move it still causes what feels like the trans clutch to slip and jerk badly as well as shaking the entire car, and sounds terrible, that I didn’t expect. I used the fluid they supplied with LSD kit and did the breaking, planning to change fluid as they suggest after breaking, but wondering will it get smoother or less aggressive with use? maybe a 1.5 is just too aggressive for normal road driving?   I have a LSD that I put in my 71 cuda when I restored it, with amazing smooth , quite yet effective results. Different style LSD but that ones a joy to drive. maybe expecting too much from this R200?
