GTR_STEALTH
Howdy ppls... Well this is my first post as im new here and new to the Skyline world... I havent bought it yet but was just wondering what you guys thought of this car i've got my eye on: Nissan Skyline GTS-T 1994 Black, 2.5ltr Automatic, 82000kms, turbo, full electrics, climate control, central locking, 027706 $13990 I've sent an email to the dealer and his reply was: "The comes with RWC, GST, 1 year warranty, 1 year reg, complianced and fully detailed. The car is plus stamp duty which you will pay even when you buy privetly. This car is in excellent condition and we have 3 more in stock, 1 grey and another in black. We hope you can come in to take a look as you will be happy with the condition and range we have here" So what do you guys rekon??? I've read the sticky subject on buying a Skyline etc and found them very helpful!!! Any commonents or tips welcome... **JaR**
thats the same as my car cept different color and mines done 60,000kms instead. easiest way is to go look at it yourself first and see if you can spot anything visable that looks dodgy e.g see if the bonnet lines up and things like that, if it doesnt it could have been accident repaired etc. also since you said your new to the skyline scene you might not no mass amounts of information about them true? then you might want to get it checked out somewhere where they can tell you every little detail about the car ( like an racv inspection place ) before you buy it. good luck Edited October 10, 2005 by **JaR** Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/90683-buying-this-car/#findComment-1633422 Share on other sites

thommo
a couple of points i'd consider before purchasing- have you driven any other r33's? if not definately drive at least two other cars before purchasing to get a feel for what a good/bad example is like. check out as many different ads for similar spec cars as you can, including private to see how much the car is worth. never believe that what the dealer is asking is really market value. do you definately want an auto? if you're unsure then don't get one, you'll regret it later. where are you located? if possible have someone who knows skylines take an impartial look at the car for you, don't rely on an racv report. although they are good at finding obvious faults, they don't necessarily mean you will have no problems with the car. don't believe the km's. if there are any recent service records that is a big positive, but it's generally pretty rare. parts are no problem at all. almost anything can be ordered thru nissan dealerships, servicing parts ie. filters plugs pads etc are easy to find at most big auto shops like repco. there are also heaps of wreckers with r33 parts around. hope i havn't been too negative here, but i remember how eager i was to get my first skyline and ended up ignoring a lot of the good advice i was given. sorry bout the massive post, all the best mate! sewid
Well the KM's are highly suspect so dont let the dealer use that as a bargaining point. All imports of this nature have had their speedos wound back - this is a fact of life. bLiNk
I went to that car yard (unnamed) a little while a back and the place didnt instill confidence in me. The guy who i approached new nothing about skylines and the whole car yard is literally full of em. Also on each description there was a different name as the importer. Go check it out and be wary. Could be a good deal ,i might have got the work experience kid or somthing. GTR_STEALTH
Thanx for the feedback guys....constructive critisism is always good! Yeah i'd rather an automatic as im sick of a manual...already got two other cars. The dealer this is from is SEI Motors (South Eastern Importers) Melbourne...Yeah i wasnt too sure on the Km's either as it does seem a bit low. thommo, Are you from CCC??? Im VR_STEALTH... krzysiu
Knew i recognised that place. Thats where i got my car from in 2003. When you go over there make sure you speak with Bill and not John. When they sold me my car after i placed the deposit they found out it had a whole heap of aftermarket parts. The mechanic told me that the owner of the yard wanted to take them off and swap them for stock parts. Luckily the mechanic there is a good guy and refused to take them off, mind you it had things such a HKS turbo, cooler and all this other stuff. Goos thing for me is that they didnt know the extent of the mods and i got a 250rwkw car for pretty much the price for a stock series 2 in 2003 I had a look at the quality of cars they have, let me tell you they arent very good. The only worthwhile cars that were for sale when i was purchasing my car, was my car (Only series 2 on the lot) and a 97 Series 3 R33 GT-R. Make sure you get a RACV check on it and make them pay for it like i did Edited October 11, 2005 by krzysiu Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/90683-buying-this-car/#findComment-1633885 Share on other sites
xRHETTx
My car was imported through SEI a few years ago, its an alright place, not too dodgy. Should see the 2 massive rotweilers the guy keeps in the office. Scary... Make sure the timing belt has been changed, it looks like it has the sticker saying it has. (silver on cam cover) It should have the km's when it was changed written on it. If it hasnt been done you'll be looking at a $500 service straight up. MacGuyver
I'd be very sus about the Km's done as well; I brought the exact same car in 2002 with 82 000 on the clock which I thought was pretty spot on if you factor in about 10 000Km's done per year. If it's in excellent condition though it doesn't really matter too much what it says on the clock in my opinion. "My cat's breath smells like cat food."
