try posting in the victoria section rather than GAD for a better response..

i think you will find that one of the owners of ice performance is a member of these forums and the SAU-victoria club (LEEWAH is his nickname) and that half of the victorian skyline drivers swear by this workshop

Warren.

Leewah is not an owner,Gerald and Nigel are the owners. There work is superb. My S15 now makes 242rwkw and they will be fitting cams, afm and tuning my GTR,current tune 330kw @ wheels on Racepace dyno.Reason I go to Ice rather than Racepace who built my motor is they are closer, plus I hate driving near Knox.Cant go wrong with either shop IMO

most of the info is correct in the post above :)

Well heard of, do a search dude.

We have out SAU-Vic dyno day there in 3 weeks. Come along and have a chat.

All the people in the know will be there :)

i wouldn't trust ice with my car...

won't go into it,  but a couple of friends had bad experiences with them.

probably best you didnt.

last thing we need are "my mates, mates" storys again.

EVery workshop has a horror story, it just depends who's the one telling that story.

Get over it

dude what rock have you been living under!

i'm in perth and even i've heard of these guys!!  :)

lmao, sorry mate was being a smartass.

sooo many threads on this, but this should help -

mate,

the poster was asking for people *opinions* on ice.

good/BAD/average

I was posting my opinion, so get over it :P

I beg to differ. Ice Performance was originally started by 4 people which included Nigel, Gerald, myself and another friend.

Since then the last person has pretty much disappeared. Just because I don't work there doesn't mean that I don't own a share of Ice Performance.

I live in the county and it’s hard to find people here who know anything about modifying or tuning Skylines. I have been to ICE twice very happy with the prices and the results. I will also add I find most mechanics arrogant and unhelpful but these guys are the exact opposite I highly recommend them.

R31Nismoid, I know as far as posts are concerned I'm a newbie and to you and your network of friends here I may be out of line in saying this but here goes.

I think your previous comment is not warranted. I may be misinterpreting the demeanor of your comment but to someone like me I find it pretty rude (even though its not directed to me).

I think MerlinTheHapyPig made his statement and was professional enough to hold back any word of mouth comments. If a few of my friends told me not to go to a work shop I will surly listen to them. All he was doing is letting renegadeMR2 know his personal opinion.

I understand ICE PERFORMANCE is a contributor to this forum and I'm grateful for any help they provide as this is a great site. But just because they are a contributor I don't think admin should automatically defend them. I know Nigel is a member of these forums, why not let him to have his say. All I'm asking is for you to stay neutral.

Don't get me wrong R31Nismoid, I do agree with your comments but I don't think the "Get over it" was warranted.

I'm sorry if my post has gone of on a tangent.

Hear what you are saying mate and nicely worded reply by yourself.

Ash is good guy and having met him a few times in person can say this. Dont take anything too personally IMO that he types he is a decent bloke and means well.

:( B)

Where is the emoticon for giving someone a clip round the ear when you need it! :P

    • Sounds like you've got an interesting adventure ahead here with local support if you have trouble! My guess is that, unboosted, you will be OK with a small upgrade like -9. What will happen is that once the stock ECU sees more airflow than it expects it will add a heap of fuel and pull a heap of timing to be safe because it can't understand how it could get that much air without there being an issue. You will see clouds of black smoke and it won't pull hard through the midrange and top end. So, overall it will be a bit frustrating but should be OK. If you are still nervous set the base timing back 2o through the CAS, but it will be even more sluggish everywhere. As said above through...this is not my guarantee your engine won't be blown into a million pieces, leaving you looking for very hard to find parts A better idea is get a computer with logging ASAP, wire in a wide band O2 sensor and a use remote tuner. I've done multiple cars this way and while it is not as good as a specific tune on a dyno they can get it 90% right. I'd suggest if you can afford an R33 GTR these days you can afford an ECU and tune. And if you can't afford that you sure won't be able to afford the rebuild if it goes bad in the meantime,.
    • Yeah it would be nice if someone took the time to put that sort of information together, but there are a lot of variations in looms. I think you are making this way hard for yourself if you just want to get it running....sourcing an SR20 with the right wiring will be a billion times easier than matching the RB loom to an S15 chassis. If you do end up going this way, you just need to trace every wire in the loom with a multimeter, 95% of them will go to a location you can confirm at the ECU.....and then post it up for the next person who needs it
    • Just top it up with water, and keep a general idea of how much you added. It is normal for water to be pushed into and pulled out of the reservoir through the cap, and it should not be more than half full or it will be likely to overflow when hot. Any decent mechanic can do a pressure test of the cooling system to confirm if you have a leak. Keep in mind if it is only leaking a little and when hot it may well evaporate before you see it hit the ground
    • I'd ask the shop what they used and use that. Mixing coolants is sometimes OK, sometimes not, and you have know the details of each coolant to know whether it's a good idea or not.
    • Is it alright to top up with just another green coolant?
