howdy, i was lookin at a DBA catalogue and noticed that R33 and R34 brake rotors are the same width as the R32 rotors, but are larger.

i was wondering if anyone has put R33 or R34 rotors on an R32 with the R32 calipers.

also what is a good brand for rotors? is it worth payin extra for slotted rotors? how do these after market ones compare to factory nissan ones?

Hello mate, i asked the same thing last week and a guy replyed to me with this,

(I have had the 324 dba conversion on mine only for a few months.

I bought the adapters and rotors, DBA 4000 from Unique Autosports for a good price as he gives SAU members a discount. I still had to machine 2mm off the diameter of the rotors as when they were first installed they were rubbing the caliper slightly. If you do, do the conversion make sure u bend completely out of the way the stock brake dust brackets as they will rub on the calipers also after a while

They are preety easy to install and me and a mate installed them at his workshop in a few hours after we figured out how the bracket went on as there wasent any instructions.

They make a huge difference on the track compared to the old rotors-280mm. I put in some Ferodo DS2500 front pads in there also to replace the RB74's i previously had which also helped.)

So Hopfully this will help you out a bit mate and i am going to do this mod very soon.

On the R33 GTST they start off with 296mm, not 280mm, but still a big change to the 324mm.

You cant go bigger rotor unless you buy the matching caliper as they are all offset differently.

Dependign what you want to do with the car then th eDBA replacements rotors (slotted) with soem nice pads and good fluid will work wondersl.

From there its a matter of how much money you want to, or dont want to spend.

Well i think you will find your factory rims are 16 inch not 15's and if you are going to change them you would be changing to R33 or R34 GTR size rotors not R33 Gts-t because they are only 296mm. And no you will need 17's for the 324mm rotors and there is no point changing to R33 gts-t calipers as they are very much the same size as R32 gts-t calipers

No - they are factory 15in - I know this 100% as I just had new tyres fitted

No - they are not the same calipers, I have 2 pot calipers, not 4 spot so the upgrade is worth it.

Jeez - hasn't anyone heard of a non type - m spec R32?

So my question is the same - Will R33 GTSt rotors etc fit with 15in wheels..?

If you were desperate to know, just take one caliper off, remove the pads and if it is a type m 4 pot, then there will 2 pistons on each side..

yes sorry josh i was wrong with what i was saying, i did not no that there was a R32 Gts-t modle that came out with only 2 pot front brakes and 15's and i was just suggesting that if you where going to up grade that you would be better off going to the 324mm rotors

    • I don't understand how this hasn't boiled down to - Upgrade the turbo when you have everything required. ECU, injectors, fuel pump, turbo, etc. Do it all at once.  If you don't have everything required, just enjoy the car as it is and keep saving up your pennies. 
    • Sounds like you've got an interesting adventure ahead here with local support if you have trouble! My guess is that, unboosted, you will be OK with a small upgrade like -9. What will happen is that once the stock ECU sees more airflow than it expects it will add a heap of fuel and pull a heap of timing to be safe because it can't understand how it could get that much air without there being an issue. You will see clouds of black smoke and it won't pull hard through the midrange and top end. So, overall it will be a bit frustrating but should be OK. If you are still nervous set the base timing back 2o through the CAS, but it will be even more sluggish everywhere. As said above through...this is not my guarantee your engine won't be blown into a million pieces, leaving you looking for very hard to find parts A better idea is get a computer with logging ASAP, wire in a wide band O2 sensor and a use remote tuner. I've done multiple cars this way and while it is not as good as a specific tune on a dyno they can get it 90% right. I'd suggest if you can afford an R33 GTR these days you can afford an ECU and tune. And if you can't afford that you sure won't be able to afford the rebuild if it goes bad in the meantime,.  
    • Yeah it would be nice if someone took the time to put that sort of information together, but there are a lot of variations in looms. I think you are making this way hard for yourself if you just want to get it running....sourcing an SR20 with the right wiring will be a billion times easier than matching the RB loom to an S15 chassis. If you do end up going this way, you just need to trace every wire in the loom with a multimeter, 95% of them will go to a location you can confirm at the ECU.....and then post it up for the next person who needs it  
    • Just top it up with water, and keep a general idea of how much you added. It is normal for water to be pushed into and pulled out of the reservoir through the cap, and it should not be more than half full or it will be likely to overflow when hot. Any decent mechanic can do a pressure test of the cooling system to confirm if you have a leak. Keep in mind if it is only leaking a little and when hot it may well evaporate before you see it hit the ground
    • I'd ask the shop what they used and use that. Mixing coolants is sometimes OK, sometimes not, and you have know the details of each coolant to know whether it's a good idea or not.
