Time for another tuning results thread.

I approached Jim at CRD to tune my car following recent work and I an extremely happy with his efforts

The results shown below are based on a built RB26 with all the fruit, Tomei 260 degree Poncams and HKS GT-SS turbos

I will let the pictures below tell the story

The cars response is very good, its very agile around town and the exhaust note is simply awesome.

I can only say I am very pleased with the results

Good results nick.

Post up the torque curve why dont ya :D

From the boost curve, you're making 21.5-22 psi @ 4400 rpm ? Thats pretty good.

It will be interesting to see what you end up pulling at wsid this week. Hope it bloody well doesnt rain. If it does, I will join you next week and we can race together :D

I take it this is awkw?

Very nice result.

Intersting to see your boost hit 21 and drop back down to 20 - what boost controller are you using? Is it set to 20 and just spikes to 21?

What rpm are you hitting 1bar boost (just want to compare to williamsf1 and tommy)...

Will be interesting to see how you go at the drag strip... are you going to take this on the real (circuit) track? :D

can't wait till i get my car back in a couple of weeks or so. I'm leaving stock cams in for now, see how they cope.

Ferni, yep thats awkw

The car made 320awkw but was brought back down a tad for the final run - my request was reliability and safety rather than absolute peak power

CRD believes that my cat is causing some problems and should be replaced with a better flowing unit, which could see a gain of another 10-15 awkw

I have been itching to take the GTR on a track for a long long time now, so I will fit my oil cooler and get out there!

Boost controller is the HKS EVC 5

Nick

Nice work. Glad Jim sorted it all out for you. Too bad I didnt stick around at Croydon to see the final run but after eating maccas I was feeling like shit (big suprise!).

I have doubts about my own cat after the weekend and will be sourcing one of those phat Catco ones which look like Magic cats from Batmbl i think.

    • It is a kunfine Android screen . Does anyone know the wirering diagram of the fuga ??
    • just an update to this, poor man pays twice  Tried sanding down the pulleys but it didnt do the trick. Chucked another second hand alternator in the na car which I got for free off my mate and its fixed the squelling. Must have been unlucky with the bearings.    As for my turbo car, I managed to pick up a cwc rb alternator conversion bracket + LS alternator for 250 off marketplace, looked to be in really good nick. Installed it , started the car and its not charging the battery.... ( Im not good with auto elec stuff so im not sure if this was all I needed to do but I verified such by using a multimeter on the battery when the engine was running and I was only getting 12.2v )   I had to modify the earth strap for the new LS alternator , factory earth strap was a 10mm bolt which did not fit the bolt on the LS alternator which was double the size so I cut it off , went to repco bought some ring terminals that fit, crimped it onto the old earth strap and bolted it up to the alternator , started the car and same issue. Ran like shit and was reading 12.2 at the battery.  For a "plug and play" advertised kit thats not very plug and play but alas.  My question is , am I missing something ? Ive been reading that some people recommend upgrading the stock 80 amp alternator fuse to a 140 amp but I dont see how that would stop the alternator charging especially at idle not under load.  Regardless ive pulled it out and am going to get it bench tested by an auto elec tomorrow but it would be handy to know if ive missed something silly or have done something wrong.
    • My wild guess is that you have popped off an intake pipe....check all of the hoses between the turbo and the throttle for splits or loose clamps.
    • Awesome, thanks for sharing!
    • To provide more specific help, more information is needed. What Android screen? What is its wiring diagram? Does the car's wiring have power at any required BAT and ACC wires, and is the loom's earth good?
