took the fat 3 1/2 APEXI exhaust system off due to final EPA warning and gona leave it so f*k it, no more hassles. nowadays coppers simply jot down your plates and report to EPA then EPA f**ks u over.

over it.

I was told by a police officer

1"look like you can afford the car you are driving"

2"drive it like you own it"

Only time i have been pulled over was when i was on a day off and was in my trackys and a shit shirt . i useually hav a try on

That police officer who told you that is the kind of dumb k*nt im talking about. I am a supervisor at work ,i have morals, respect,im mature etc,but because i,or someone wants to wear a hat,or a singlet or whatever a dope like that wants to pull you up and hassle you because of the way you look.

Cheers

So So Tru I ducked off to dicksmiths liverpool couple a weeks ago wearing tshirt n shorts n havaianas. on the way home reilly rd lurnea sum poof cop drives past me does uturn at roundabout bout 200m away n flies past 4 other cars just to catch up (im only crusing under 50k/h) flashes his headlights so i pull over he comes over to me asks: is this your car, then says are u sure, then says i was jus checking if u were wearing yourseatbelt. oh i cant believe i didnt get his name campbelltown police though (in livo?) 2 weeks later i get defect vehicle notice with summons to go to EPA lidcombe for exhaust (according to cop it has no resonator and is far too loud (it is actually: 86db @ 4800rpm 3.5in cat, resonator, exhaust)dildo) and blow off valve and pod filter that i dont even own. I called EPA to clarify and they said just front up and theyll look. And i got done $175 and 2points for not displaying my red p's my sis's green p's were on instead and it was my first ever offence. no leniancy

i got exhaust tested and certified by livo exhaust 86db and because it is same configuration as stock exhaust (bar the 3.5 in pipng with 4.5in tip) they said i should just attend and they will advise me at Lidcombe because it is under. EPA also said so long as some configuration is maintained it should be a pass provided it is under the noise limit 90db. Has any one else done this i need advice soon as judgement day is fri 9 @ 830am Lidcombe EPA.

Sorry its a lil long

ok well comming home from manly one night, my mate got done for fdefects randomly manly is in teh northen beaches of sydney, these cops were from some were out west,

Hi, Had a show 32 GTR only got pulled over for RBT'S, the usual shit...

"is this car yours" where do you live" etc. Just be polite and dont be a smart arse. Ive never been asked to pop the bonnet.

Now i drive Stock looking 32, wheels exhaust etc with no front number plate, as im too lazy to put it back on. Havent been pulled over as yet, despite driving past police all the time, they just stare at me.

Though i have been in mates cars and had police pull us over for nothing at all and write a whole list of defects, mostly around the Central Coast region, where it takes 3 cop cars to all come and have a look at your car and defect you.

  • 1 month later...

just got pulled over by the cops last night for no reason. he came down and said my exhaust is not standard and he asked me to pop up my bonnet. he looked at the hks bov and said it's illigal but then i said it's plumbed back though. then he said you lucky! <_< .. he then look at the fmic and said also that it's also illigal, because it allows more air thru the engine which is not standard! :(.. then he look at my pod filter which was totally sealled, then said it's illigal as well because you require a box around it not just enclose it with sheet metal/plastic which only for blocking the heat! :) ... it needs to be full enclose to prevent from sucking alot of air! :)

i was polite to him and everything but he tried to act as if he know everything! i told him that i had never have trouble with the law before but then he said "well i'm going to give you a fine and EPA will send you the form, and it will be your lesson to own an imported car which you should know they have been modified and it's my responsibility" :( .....

oh yeah, he also took a few pictures of my exhasut, enclose pod, fmic and BOV! <_<

1. can someone tell me whether our pod with CAI is illigal? and it need to be fully enclose like the stock box!

2. if EPA asked my to bring in the car should i put back the stock exhaust? i was told that with 3" turbo back exhaust from Liverpool Exhaust it would be complied, i'm lost.

In the two years that I have owned my R33 apart from the odd RBT, I haven't been pulled over yet. Actually never been pulled over in 9 years of driving, knock on wood! Don't want to jinx myself either!

in my 1.5 years of owning a line ive only been pulled over once for an rbt, he asked a couple of questions, asked if i had modifications under the hood, just said" she's a stoker" and he let me go.

for over 4 years i have never had a problem and only RBT twice and never asked about what i got in the bonnet!

it's just this time, where this police just pull me over for no season just to check out my exhaust. .. is it for real that he said that the EPA will send me form and ask me to EPA centre! he didnt give me the defects form but just a normal traffic fine!

A few months back I was pulled over by a powertripper about not indicating into my street, which uses a filter lane of the main rd...

The cop was at least 3 cars back, but he was stating how I drove like a dickhead, how people my age that drive cars like I do, end up round poles etc...

What I did was called up the police station for that area and registered an official complaint, as it was blant that they were on a powertrip...

I stated that we shouldnt be stereotyped due to the car we drive, that the cop acted in complete dis-respect, representing the rest of the police body, and that calling me a disckhead is totally unprofessional.

It was funny, cause the leading sergant I spoke to on the phone stated that "dickhead" isnt even offensive these days, but I asked them, would you teach your children that word?

I still havent received my indicating fine... its been a few months now

I get pulled over in my company car and in my 32 all the time.

In the past I have done some stupid things but I tend to try and take it easy now-a-days and I think that my license has been flagged and I always get hassled.

Last year took two officers from harbour side to court for harrasment and won.

    • If as it's stalling, the fuel pressure rises, it's saying there's less vacuum in the intake manifold. This is pretty typical of an engine that is slowing down.   While typically is agree it sounds fuel related, it really sounds fuel/air mixture related. Since the whole system has been refurbished, including injectors, pump, etc, it's likely we've altered how well the system is delivering fuel. If someone before you has messed with the IACV because it needed fiddling with as the fuel system was dieing out, we need to readjust it back. Getting things back to factory spec everywhere, is what's going to help the entire system. So if it idles at 400rpm with no IACV, that needs raising. Getting factory air flow back to normal will help us get everything back in spec, and likely help chase down any other issues. Back on IACV, if the base idle (no IACV plugged in) is too far out, it's a lot harder for the ECU to control idle. The IACV duty cycle causes non linear variations in reality. When I've tuned the idle valves in the past, you need to keep it in a relatively narrow window on aftermarket ecus to stop them doing wild dances. It also means if your base idle is too low, the valve needs to open too much, and then the smallest % change ends up being a huge variation.
    • I guess one thing that might be wrong is the manifold pressure.  It is a constant -5.9 and never moves even under 100% throttle and load.  I would expect it to atleast go to 0 correct?  It's doing this with the OEM MAP as well as the ECU vacuum sensor. When trying to tune the base map under load the crosshairs only climb vertically with RPM, but always in the -5.9 column.
    • AHHHH gotchaa, I'll do that once I am home again. I tried doing the harness with the multimeter but it seems the car needed a jump, there was no power when it was in the "ON" position. Not sure if I should use car battery jump starter or if its because the stuff that has been disconnect the car just does send power.
    • As far as I can tell I have everything properly set in the Haltech software for engine size, injector data, all sensors seem to be reporting proper numbers.  If I change any injector details it doesnt run right.    Changing the base map is having the biggest change in response, im not sure how people are saying it doesnt really matter.  I'm guessing under normal conditions the ECU is able to self adjust and keep everything smooth.   Right now my best performance is happening by lowering the base map just enough to where the ECU us doing short term cut of about 45% to reach the target Lambda of 14.7.  That way when I start putting load on it still has high enough fuel map to not be so lean.  After 2500 rpm I raised the base map to what would be really rich at no load, but still helps with the lean spots on load.  I figure I don't have much reason to be above 2500rpm with no load.  When watching other videos it seems their target is reached much faster than mine.  Mine takes forever to adjust and reach the target. My next few days will be spent making sure timing is good, it was running fine before doing the ECU and DBW swap, but want to verify.  I'll also probably swap in the new injectors I bought as well as a walbro 255 pump.
    • It would be different if the sealant hadn't started to peel up with gaps in the glue about ~6cm and bigger in some areas. I would much prefer not having to do the work take them off the car . However, the filler the owner put in the roof rack mount cavities has shrunk and begun to crack on the rail delete panels. I cant trust that to hold off moisture ingress especially where I live. Not only that but I have faded paint on as well as on either side of these panels, so they would need to come off to give the roofline a proper respray. My goal is to get in there and put a healthy amount of epoxy instead of panel filler/bog and potentially skin with carbon fiber. I have 2 spare rolls from an old motorcycle fairing project from a few years back and I think it'd be a nice touch on a black stag.  I've seen some threads where people replace their roof rack delete with a welded in sheet metal part. But has anyone re-worked the roof rails themselves? It seems like there is a lot of volume there to add in some threads and maybe a keyway for a quick(er) release roof rack system. Not afraid to mill something out if I have to. It would be cool to have a cross bar only setup. That way I can keep the sleek roofline that would accept a couple bolts to gain back that extra utility  3D print some snazzy covers to hide the threaded section to be thorough and keep things covered when not using the rack.
