My Car Is Wrecked! (warning - 5mb)

Recommended Posts

Belagrion to compare you mums pulsar to this situation is like comparing chalk with shit...please put some perspective into the situation, at the end of the day it comes down to experience and maturity...and if I did see you doing the above in ya mums car I would be the first to bag you out

I think his point is,

It doesn't matter what car you have,

if you think you can drive like Ayrton Senna,

you're gonna end up like Ayrton Senna.

Yes Mud I realise his point, however, it took you to word it better... ;)

I think there are alot of shared views on here, and they seem to be getting OFF TOPIC again.

Liam has the insurance company issued you with any confirmation of payout for the BER vehicle...??

my point bob, was aimed at the person who claimed rwd cars are dangerous in the wet as the ass steps out and they get wheelspin.

ANYTHING is dangerous in the wet and can achieve wheelspin with minimal effort. If you drive sensibly in the wet then your chances of an accident are vastly minimised.

would you like me to go back and make sure the if was in bold and underlined to clarify that i was making a point and not stating what i do?

mud your point is of the same vein, you drive with recklessness or with skills you dont posses then you too will come unstuck.

altho chances of your being hit in the head with a suspension arm are fairly remote unless your hangin round in josh's garage.

no...not yet, the assessor will send his results off to them tomorow, then they determine what happens with the payout.

Liam,

I will give your smashed up car honoury pics in the calendar!

that'd be awesome mud. If you're serious ive got more pictures on my computer at home including one of me on the night smiling with my wreckage :P also just another thankyou to everyone for their support and ill keep you all up to date with what is going on

Do you know which wreckers they'll be selling the car to?

Or what your goin to do with it from here on-wards?

You are the biggest scabber. The guy has just lost his car, give him some peace....at least for a couple of weeks. lol.

LOL!

Some people rather get rid of it as quickly as possible so they can get their next car. I know of one dude who wrote off his silvia and wanted to get rid of it quickly (did it within 8 days) and moved onto buyin a r33.

i fail to see how you find it hard to get traction in the wet. i can drive my s13 which is set up to drift in the wet and i can get traction no problems, i can drive it safely in the wet with no hassle.

my skyline has in the vicinity of 350rwhp and this too i have no problem driving in the wet,

if i wanted to i can make my mums 00 pulsar wheelspin madly in the wet and get the tail out round corners, does this make a pulsar a bad car and a powerful car that is hard to drive in the wet? no it does not.

i think u misunderstood me. what i was saying was that if u cant control ur foot in the wet, problem happens.( its just easier for a S15 or any turbo RWD cars to get wheel spin in the wet) specially for ppl who have only got their license not very long ago.

thats what i was sayin, there is nothin wrong with s15s. i had been driving that car for a year and did not have a single accident b4 i sold it.

y does every young person think a GTR will turn them into an F1 driver?? its starting to get to me....

and y is everyone so abusive nowadays? i only mentioned buying a GTR and now i got paid out. first of all, i did NOT cause the accident; then i did NOT say im a F1 driver. y cant i just happen to like GTRs? so should i just give up and buy a echo or somthing just becoz im not over 30 and u think i cant drive ?

The assessor has gotten into contact with me today and the car is definately being written-off for the total amount that it was insured for. All that needs to happen now is the claim will be finalised and they will post a cheque out to me. Ive also been told that i can keep my rims that are on the car by swapping them over with the original set, which i will be doing tomorow.

So it looks as though everything has worked out for the best and the turn around was extremely fast :D

    • So stock ECU does not like anything above 10 psi?  That Nistune one is just for "try" if it will be any different, I know it need to be tune for that. I know but YOU may know about these problem but i/we dont. They few little Skylines here let alone people who know anything about tham so that is why iam asking here
    • So now we have a radiator with no attachments whatsoever. It lifts up with a particularly tight spot between the drivers side air box mount and the lower radiator outlet, but if you've got this far you will sort that too. This is the lower mounts with the rad out so you can see where the rubber bushes go, it is a straight shot upwards Done! Assembly is the reverse of disassembly, with blood less likely to be shed.
    • Right, onto the second last trick. The Air Con condenser is mounted to the front of the radiator and stays in the car when the radiator is removed. There are 2x 10mm headed self tappers holding the top of the condenser to the radiator, remove those The bottom of the condenser is attached to the radiator with clips. You need to lift the condenser out of those clips and clear (up, then forward). f**ked if  could work out how to do that last bit with the front bumper on. I hope you can, and you share the trick.  Bumper removal probably deserves its own thread one day once I've recovered the will to live, but basically you need to remove the wheels, front inner guard liners (clips and 10mm headed bolts), the self tapper between the guard and the bumper at the rearmost point of the bumper (same as an R32 that bit), any remaining clips at the top/front of the grill, an absolute bastard design with a plate that holds the top of the bumper above the headlight each side (only 1 bolt which is tricky to get to, but the plate catches 2 places on the bumper and must be removed....carefully!) and push clips between the bumper and guard under the headlight. If you've done all that you will be faced with wiring for the fog lights on both sides and in ADM Q50 RS at least, 4 nasty tight plugs on the driver's side for the ADAS stuff. So, the clips at the bottom look like this on drivers side (looking from the front) And on the passenger side (also from the front), you can see this one is already out Clearance on both of these are super tight; the condenser needs to move up but the upper rad support mount prevents that, and the radiator can't move down far because it is (rubber) mounted. Once you achieve the impossible and drop the condenser off those mounts so it does not stop the rad moving, you are good to go
    • OK, next the shroud needs to come off and there are a couple of tricks. Firstly, there is a loom from near the passenger side headlight to the fans, coolant temp sensor etc and there is no plug to undo.  In my case I was OK to leave the shroud on top of the engine so I just undid the passenger side fan plug and about 10 of the clips which gave enough free wire to put it aside. The fan plugs were super tight, the trick I used was a small falt screwdriver to push down on the release tab, then a larger flat screwdriver to lever the plug out of the fan unit....be careful with how much force you apply! If you need to remove the shroud altogether for some reason you will have to deal with all the plugs (tight) and clips (brittle)....good luck. I removed all of the clips and replaced them with cable ties that I will just cut next time. Also, in the Red Sport / 400R at least, the intake heat exchanger reservoir hose is bolted to the shroud in 2 places with 10mm headed bolts; so remove them (the hose stays in the car; no need to undo it at the t fittings down at the radiator lower mount. Once you've dealt with the HX hose and the wiring loom, there are 3x 10mm headed self tappers holding the top of the shroud to the radiator; remove those.   The shroud then lifts out of the bottom mounts where it sits on the radiator, up and onto the engine out of the way. Simples
    • Ok, disregard my “rate them” comment, sorry for my unrealistic input
