Well Ill try the ghetto boost mod to ensure the wastegate isnt creeping open (drill out the holes slightly).

3000rpm is pretty damn good to have full boost!!!

It looks like Im getting about 9psi by 3800rpm in 2nd.

Running a bit rich and probably not optimum ignition timing so maybe I could get thatdown to 3500rpm..

no, you don't drill out the holes.

I got a cutting torch and spot heated a bit of the actuator and bent it one way about 45 degrees, then spot heated another bit along the rod and bent it back the other way..... then bent another bit back..... Kinda like the ASCII 'art' below....

PS. Ignore the . look only at the lines... :O

you can drill NEW holes in the end of the rod that attaches to the flapper. I actually tried that......

But boost was, hmmmm, how to I put it....... VIOLENT! :O

Boost was miles to quick to come on and the EBC couldn't regulate it.

so I changed back to a more moderate ghetto mod :(

IMO i would go and get yourself a decent EBC,for piece of mind,

Bass full boost at 3k is bloody good.I have poncams and still full boost isnt untill 3800rpm.

Mine is a Precision BB highflow, shafts and wheels not balanced inhouse like GCGs but the cartridge(wheels and shaft) are sourced from Garrett already balanced. That is the only difference that i can see.

Cranked boost up to about 13 or 14psi. Can get that boost by about 3800rpm in 3rd. 2nd is about 4100rpm.

Not reving it past about 5000rpm but boy does it feel like a shove back in your seat as it comes onto the higher boost.

Cant imagine what 18psi +tune will be like. Currently running very rich.

You do have to get into the accelerator a bit more though with this turbo to make things happen

Forget about the lag - It's not really an issue - I think Im running about 13-14psi. I can't believe the hit it gets

Be careful if there is any wetness on the road. These cars are monsters. 3rd gear.. 3000rpm boost building. about 3800rpm steps sideways as it hits builds to 14psi!!

Not going to push it anymore till injectors then tune. Seriously though anymore than 240rwkw for the road is just plain silly :P !! Whatever its making now running as rich as buggery is plenty

Well I guess the 170rwkw it was making before at 10psi on stock turbo was plenty also hahaha

Increase grip. :P:D

I also have a vg30 turbo with r33 hi-flow front..Dont know much about it but it made 235rwkw at 10-12psi.

Ive recently converted the car to manual and taking it back to get retuned..

This turbo comes on really aggresive i love the feel and shove it gets, cant campare it to the stock turbo. Midrange couldnt really be tuned as Im only using a safc.

theres some old threads about this combination of turbos if yous arn't aware, that person had great results also.

Cheers

Hi Sloutch,

Here is the link I was refering to, good read.

I was extremely interested in the thread as I have an unknown turbo on my car and its seems to be a similar one in the above thread.

Cheers

    • And I just realised that that advice is slightly nonsensical for a GTR, because you need 2 of them. But it is otherwise true.
    • Having had a reasonable look at the car, I'll be able to remove the (one time) rams and retract the hinge (they are held in the down location by a tiny (m3?) sacrificial screw) which will get it physically back in shape. From there if you remove the rams you need a resistor to turn off the airbag light (as Mark said, there are plug in kits and I might go that way because its reversible). And...per all the threads on here, even if you have the resistors to turn off the airbag light, the bonnet light will stay on as it writes to the airbag computer history - that is either replace the airbag controller, reprogam the EPROM (if I can work out how), or remove the globe from the dash. Having seen how sensitive this system is, if I had my time over I'd pre-emptively remove the rams, even on a road car, because this is all a very unnecessary pain in the arse. Reminds me, time to go and have a look at the Fuga too....

I opened the loom upto where it getting branch with other wire, i’m amazed they is no wire. So need help how to fix the speedometer problem.
