I've seen over 300rwkw from a stock bottom end R33 with GT-RS and cams.  There is a thread on it somewhere here.

can anyone link to this thread? i cant find it via search. OVER 300rwkw from a GTRS is a very big ask, i will believe it only when i see the dyno graph! Thats over 500hp at the engine from a 400ps rated turbo. even with a conservative rating thats still a big ask!

well i quess you have your dyno reasults and it was in fast fours as i said But with people on the forum only making 360-390rwkws with two on a gtr :(

So if I go to the GT-RS (more than likely) what should be considered while the turbo is being done ??

GT-RS turbo

Dump pipe (HKS Extension pipe)

Tomei Poncams (264s?)

Fuel Pump

Injectors (Blitz seem to be the only direct fits i can find)

Headgasket (Tomei 1.6/1.8mm)

Oil Cooler

Splitfire Coils

adjustable cam gears ?

Z32 afm ?

can't seem to think of anything else.

nope the 33 greddy plenum doesnt fit the neo......you either need an adapter plate which is almost impossible to get a hold of or drill new threads in the cylinder head to make the 33 one fit. The second option is not one I would like to take....so im still searching for that elusive adapter plate.

Correct on the Greddy plenum... I also investigated this and found the same information. The stock plenum works fine though up to about 600hp, it just doesn't look as cool as the greddy plenum

hahha your car will be right if you just run 0.6 bar of boost ie stock boost. I have been to wakie many times with my car and have never had a problem. But I have heard of reports of 34s running stock turbo and running 0.8 bar or more and blowing up their turbos.

lol then i must have some kind of freak turbo because mine sees 0.9 Bar every time i drive it, and it's been fine at that boost level for over 18months, with a few track days too B) New HKS GT series turbo coming soon though :D

O/T guys but you could rate the GT-RS (esentially badge engineered Garrett GT2871R 52T with T3 flange and Skyline specific dump pattern) as ~ 420Hp compressor and 330 Hp turbine side . That exhaust housing is only .64ARR so 300Kw of exhaust flow ?

That GCG Hi Flow would be very cost effective particularly as you already have the R34 Neo type exhaust housing , one out one in and no orphan bits needed . Will look dead stock and is rebuildable . How easy is that .

Cheers A .

you going for an internal gate or an external ?

I think the Plazmaman one might fit the 34s.....as it uses the standard runners.

Just need to find out of the runners are the same on 34s are they are for 33s.

You'll need to find out if its chrome coated too... after all A/M plenums are more cosmetic than performance based unless your making something over what a stock motor is going to handle

:D

480cc will be pushing it @ 300rwkw.

Get the Nismo 550. Bolt it and gives you the required head room

stock boost on a 34gtt is 0.8-0.9 bar. provided it isnt pinging :D

I was lead to beleive its 0.6 or 0.7 ?

I turn it up to 0.9 when I feel like giving it a hit...

R31Nismoid: AFAIK nismo dont have 550cc for 34s.

I think next step up will be 740cc which is a little bit overkill.

Stock boost is 0.5 bar.

I have also never heard of 550cc Nismo injectors for the R34.

Not that I've done the calculations but I think 480's might be a bit small for 300rwkw too.

Are you sure you've got the right GT-RS there discopotato? That doesn't seem right based on what we are seeing on the dynos.

I thought the 0.64 turbine was the GTR one and the GTST was 0.8'ish.

Based on what I have seen HKS compressors seem capable of around 10% more than their rated capacity. So my feeling would be that the 420 bhp tops out around 460 bhp. That's 285 rwkw (using the usual 2wd Skylines losses of ~60 kw). It wouldn't take much of a "happy" dyno to read 300 rwkw.

:) cheers :D

Especially as the 300rwkw was on a dynojet dyno.

In "Ls1-land" we find the dynojet figures to be generally around 10-15% higher than dyno dynamics figures for the same mods.

    • You just need to remove the compressor housing, not the entire turbo. I would not be drilling and tapping anything with the housing still on anyways.
    • So, I put my boat on a boat. First of all, I'm going to come out and say it. Why is Tasmania not considered a holy goal, an apex that all road-legal modified cars go to, to experience? This place is an absolute wonderland of titanic proportions. If people are already getting club runs for once in a lifetime 30 person cruises to Tassy then I've never seemed to see it. It is like someone replaced the entire place with an idyllic wonderland for cars, and all of the people living there with paid actors who are kind, humble, and friendly. Dear god. After doing a lap of almost all of the place I've found that it's a great way to find out all of the little things that the car isn't doing quite right and a great way to figure it all out. All in all, I drove for 4 hours a day for a week and nothing broke. I didn't even need to open the engine bay. This is by all means a great success, but it has left me with a list of things to potentially address. I also now have a 3D printed wheel fitment tool which annoyingly hasn't got any threads in it to actually assemble it. I might be able to tape it together to check the sizing I actually want to use, but it'll likely involving pulling the shocks out to properly measure travel at least at the front, and probably raise the car while I'm at it, at least in the rear. I scraped on quite a few things and I'm not sure how else to go about it. I was taking anything with a bump at what felt like 89 degree angles. And address those 10 other tasks. And wash the car. God damn it is dirty. And somehow, the weather was perfect the entire time - And because I was on the top of Mt Wellington it turns out it was very much about to freeze up there. I did something I typically never do and took some photos up there in what must have been -10 and the foggy felt like suspended ice, rather than mere fog. If you own a car in Australia, you owe it to yourself to do it.
    • Damn that was hilarious, and a bit embarrassing for skylines in general 😂 vintage car life ey. That R33 really stomped. Pretty entertaining stuff
    • Hi, I have a r32 gtr transmission. Does any of you guys have an idea how much power it will hold with the billet center plate and stock gearset? At what power level and use did yours brake with or without billet plate? Thanks, Oystein Lovik
    • Saw this replica police car based on a Mitsubishi Starion XX parked next to a 'police box' (it's literally a box) in Hirohata, Himeji City in Hyogo prefecture the other day. It's owned by Morii-san who is a local Mitsubishi Starion enthusiast. According to a local radio station blog post, he always wanted to make a police car himself based on ones he saw in his favourite Manga comics.  As it's illegal to modify a car to look like a police car and drive on the road, Morii-san tried many times to get permission from Aboshi police station headquarters nearby. They refused initially by after they got tired of that they granted him permission. However, the car can only be displayed on private property and obviously can't be registered as long as the police livery is present. The car was completed at a cost of 1.5 million yen (US$ 10,000) in addition to the car cost. A location was chosen outside Hirohata Police box where the car can easily been seen from the street. Morii-san has two other Starion road cars, both widebody GSR-VRs.
