Munro
Steve Glenney now has a white R33 N1 GTR.It won the rally at the recent Clipsal 500.He was running 2nd outright in his old black GTR before getting a puncture in the Targa last year. Targa Tom
Ah Mr Glenny, Yes if he continues to attack Targa the way he did last year he will increase his fan base... of which I am one. The only trouble with Targa is it only rewards you for where you finish!! This bloke who calls himself "Targa".... should be "BP" - the quite achiever..... I think he is (hope you aren't affended easy G) an older bugger and he has the missers callng the notes. I would say - can drive a bit and has the results on the board. There are a lot of GT-R's running this year, and I bet one or two finishes in the boonies And yes Targa I will be trying to prevent the red mist.... Having raced motorcycles for a few years, I remmember my first trip to Oran Park. Drove all night from Qld... and finished on my arse at turn two lap one of Sundays first race... LOL No refunded entry and no prize money... just another red eye back to Qld. Anyhow gotta do some more work otherwise mine wont be there Ciao:) Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/9764-targa-tasmania-gtrs/page/2/#findComment-247478 Share on other sites

I did the first year both the quick GTRs crashed last year its a long event so you need to take it easy to finish Nice to see you watching these forums Jeff. Shame you have turned to the dark side ( if you can't beat em join em ) Porsches but they are hard to beat if you can afford them. My belief is that a GTR is the ONLY other vehicle capable of beating a Porsche at Targa in the right hands. It's a shame you didn't continue your development of the GTR marque because I believe your driving record speaks for itself ( ie. Bloody Good !! ) If you beat the Whites GTR I will for one , personally bag you , you traitor:D Hehehe Good luck anyway and keep the shiny side up. floody
The White's had a monumental crash in rally tas recently I believe, dunno if they'll be in targa or not? All the N1's in the world can come down to Tassie, but I really doubt Richards will lose while he is still breathing and entering targa! barring crashes, mechanical failures of course. Its a wonder porsche don't just sponsor targa, its already tailor made for the bloody things. I'd love to see a GTR take it though. Also like to see the GTS-X that runs get up there in the modern classics... cheers, floody Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/9764-targa-tasmania-gtrs/page/2/#findComment-270095 Share on other sites
Targa Tom
The Whites will be there!!!! I would imagine as I type John is standing bake throwing more money at the event.... LOL From my observations, it is the toreque that gives the porsche an advantage... Best people to ask would be Jim, Targa and Greg Garwood.... they have all made the switch... Me, I reckon a HCR32 is the go. Which reminds me better go and do some more work... race is now only FOUR WEEKS AWAY  Ciao Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/9764-targa-tasmania-gtrs/page/2/#findComment-275243 Share on other sites

summoner
this years modern fields are large amoutns of skylines and large amounts of porsches.. I agree 2000 was a tough year(we came off and totalled a series 6 rx-7 that year). I am fortunate enough to navigate for my dad in the event and have done so in 2000 20001 2002 and will be navigating again this year. Going for our 1st gold plate *yay* Will be cool to catch up with fellow forum members over there i'll be in the Yellow GT3CS de Corti/de Corti entry #904 Have fun people Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/9764-targa-tasmania-gtrs/page/2/#findComment-314038 Share on other sites

no_gtr_yet
"Top effort Targa Tom, its good to see the GTST giving those cheating 4wds a run for their money" Duncan this should open up a can of worms !!!!!!! I believe that all the Datsuns got through post race checks so the cheating call may be a bit OTT. Duncan
umm. the point was that having to use 4wd is cheating....not a q of whether they followed the regs.... Targa Tom
The minimum contribution by our commercial partners was quit substantial. By running decals - and there isn't a lot of room - it devalues the investment by our partners. Having said that, our service vehicle carried all our product supporters and those others who helped make the event possible... With this in mind and the excellent quality of 99.9% of this site, we will find a spot for a decal supporting it. And here is a thought, get a few Skyline Owners together and go to tassie in 2004. Enjoy the event, red wine, and roads... and with a bit of luck, a certain horse trainer may take the next step...
