so it cant be anywhere above the steering wheel?

i cant see how that would affect anything. its not in your vision.. to create a blind spot.

well i guess its not like any of their other rules make sense hey?

i'm depressed now. i like where it is now... but then again if it isnt the boost guage they will defect me for something else anyway.

but TLAI909 says he's been pulled over many times..... or is he just lucky?

if they can see the guage over the steering wheel (which they can from 20 metres away) they're just going to go "oh boosted turbo", and if they're in the mood give you grief about it. If its below anybody outside the car's vision then its not an instant attention grabber.

I got done couple of weeks ago by the RTA i had gauges on what they refer to as the "A" pillar which you (arnt) allowed to have. The guys from the RTA unit were cool about it they told me its cool where it is but id have to remove it a soon as possible no gauge should be put over the steering wheel , when i returned to my car the cop that caught me said that i was gona a cop a fine for the gauge anyway ****EN cops!:pissed:

this is where i have it. here

its in a good spot, nobody else can see it, doesnt affect vision etc.

regarding gauge pods, you can just get a permit for them (WA) if you wish then then cops cant do didlee to you. :)

yeah thats true

nissan stock A pillar pods for the S15 (prob would go on a skyline)

when i heard the price it disgusted me

i think the law is that it cant be infront of the steering wheel and it cannot impede your view of the road

i think off the steering column is the ebst, that is where io want mine, just need to work out how to mount it without screwing and drilling (making a bracket)

the reason why you cant have it on the 'A pillar' is not because it blocks vision, but becuase your head can apparently reach it if u were in a crash, and so its a saftey reason(its called the head crash area). ...thats what a sargeant cop told me, and he also knew his shit abt turbo cars.

my 2c

When I put my gauges on the A pillar I thought I'd do the right thing and ring up the legal team at NRMA (I was a member so I thought I'd try and get my monies worth :) ).

I told them what I wanted to do and asked them to look into it.

After 3 hours of looking through all the RTA and Vehicle modification books they could find, there was nothing saying that you couldn't put them on the A pillar.

They ended up ringing the RTA directly and low and behold there's nothing in writing saying that you can't put them on the A pillar. So after hearing that advice I went ahead and did it.

BUT - that doesn't mean that they won't defect you on it, cause you know that fighting with a copper on the side of the road get's you nowhere, and the inspection guys at the RTA generally have no idea :)

    • Sorry to hear your HFM BM57 was faulty,  did you contact HFM I would hope they would be at least grateful for the information if there was some sort of manufacturing fault, you would hope they would be sympathetic even if your item was 2 years old if it had never been fitted. May I ask where it leaked from ?
    • Cats are called Bella, and Donna...  Like that poisonous plant And I remember your 2 monsters, I remember making a little bit of wee when you let them out... LOL I have already installed cat doors into the laundry where their kitty litter is, and the sun room, apart from the cat doors there's not going to be any permanent mounted stuff on the interior walls (interior doors are cheap and easy to replace) I will get a outdoor cat cage thingie once I finish the landscaping out back... https://catnip.com.au/ The only off limit areas are the main bedroom and the gym room....but, currently the cats are curled up in bed, in the main bedroom with the Mrs.....LOL, the off limits for the kittens to the main bedroom lasted about 5 minutes with Jackie I currently only have 1 free standing huge cat tree multiple level scratching post thingie in the lounge room, but, I will be getting another one soon now that I'm happy with the furniture layout in the back room and have a perfect spot for it
    • All of this is making it seem clear that running the Coppermix twin was definitely the way to go, especially in hindsight with how insane tariffs have gotten and the strength of the USD vs yen at the time.
    • That sounds like no chance of even importing one for road registering then Now I see why Duncan wants to check LHD rules for Targa...   I wonder how "bolt in" the AWD would be if you got one imported from the US and swapped it to an AUD one
    • Not to mention they drive like a bucket of bolts! yuck!
